Glad it wasn't me, if I feel like an @sshole I take the tank and either:
a) drive it into the redzone
b) go on a joy ride killing spree and carelessly let the AV earn some points
c) keep it safe till you call in another tank and use your old one to blow up the new one |

Wait until friendly fire is switched on in the future for low-sec and null-sec battles. Also, be glad you only lost 1 million ISK. Many corps and alliances in New Eden have lost hundreds of billions of ISK per case to petty theft during the last 10 years. |

Um there is a system where the first few seconds noone else can get into the vehicle other than the person who called it in. If you wait past that time then its your own fault. Sorry. I love stealing drop ships (which i have no clue how to fly) and crash them. Its part of eve and if someone is dumb enough to not protect their assests they deserve it. I hope this never changes. |

Maybe that's why its never happened to me before but this time the damned ship dropped the tank about 75 feet from me for some god awful reason *as it does often* and I had to run to it. Its probably what caused this to happen but it couldn't have been more than a couple seconds, it dropped it up in the hills when i called it in down on the road. |

But, if you do purposely jettison from your ship and leave it floating in space only people with the skills to fly that ship can take it.
And that should be the solution here. When I call in a HAV it is locked to me for the first 30 seconds or so. And later on, if I leave it on the battlefield, only people with the required HAV skills can drive it. This would cut down on vehicle theft while not removing it completely. It would also entice people to skill in vehicles so they can drive things they find abandoned on the battlefield. |

Its locked to you for about 2-3 seconds. If thats not enough time to take the drivers seat then sorry you lose and you can call in another if you wish too....or maybe next time wait until your in an area with no blueberries around. I dont agree that you have to skill into driving a vehicle. Anyone should be able to drive it. I would agree with you if when you hack/drive a vehicle that vehicle becomes yours such that if the games ends and the vehicle is still alive then it goes to your inventory and not to the person who called it. Right now even if a enemy hacks a vehicle if it survives it goes back to the original owners inventory. |

In EVE, from what I understand, you're connected to the ship; essentially become part of it when your pod is inside. In Dust...you're just a driver. Yes, maybe the controls and all are different depending on the vehicle, but it can't be that different than the militia. Same reasoning that anyone can use a turret.
So, really, it would have to go both ways; to use a vehicle, you'd need the skills, but at the same time, to use a turret, you'd need those skills...all or nothing. |

If you spent 5 Mil SP and called in a 3 Mil ISK tank I, who spent no SP / WP, should not be able to drive it. Yes this is New Eden, but that's ridiculous.
