A tree? You are...CORRECT! Try to answer this one: I am the black child of a white father, a wingless bird, flying even to the clouds of heaven. I give birth to tears of mourning in pupils that meet me, even though there is no cause for grief, and at once on my birth I am dissolved into air. What am I?

You are correct, Thrawn01. Here's another riddle:
Pronounced as one letter, And written with three, Two letters there are, And two only in me. I'm double, I'm single, I'm black, blue, and gray, I'm read from both ends, And the same either way. What am I?

This is the full riddle? It feels like it's half.
Anyway, let me try. activate stream of consciousness:
a rhyme, poem, song which is mystical, magically structured. special properties. celestial sprites 'make clear', synonym for elucidate. Celestial, stars. moon. all my own? my as in me? me... as in I? reader or audience? narrator or reader? perhaps the narrator cannot relate to it? wait... relate to it. Cannot relate to it as hard as we may try.
a rhyme excelling in mystic force and magic spelling. Sir. In. Celestial. All. Sica. interesting. rhythm. sir, i bear a rhyme excelling. in mystic force and magic spelling. celestial sprites elucidate, all my own striving can't relate.
stars? hope?
or is it a phrase? a rhyming phrase...
'sticks and stones'....
a poem? the answer could be itself. a riddle? death? life?
excelling, spelling elucidate, relate rhyming couplets, shakespearian.
mouth or tongue.
celestial sprites definitely seem to be the stars, maybe moons. what do the stars make clear? the darkness? sight? maybe planets. planets elucidate life?
maybe we're meant to end the riddle?
"Such is the time we take for granted, Wasted, gone, the poem is haunted."
Okay that's creepy. lets take a different route. mayhaps the second line is the key. "mystic force and magic spelling". is the rhyme self-conscious? is it referring to itself? is there some trickery within the wording? hmm. all i notice is that the first letter of each line spells Sica, but thats DUST tank. no, no.
this seems to describe shakespeare, i noticed. the rhyming couplets, but also its actual meaning. his plays bore mystic force and magic spelling; macbeth? romeo and juliet, star-crossed lovers, "celestial sprites", and the inability to relate despite how hard we strive... king henry iv?
and i give up. but i wont search the answer yet. maybe we get a clue. :D

Ugh, I looked up the answer and felt betrayed by the wording, I would rather it said "IF you have me," and not "when." Maybe that can be a hint to the rest of you. |

Uh, I'll make a purely scientific guess - motion?
Practically, according to Newton's First Law, every object, including humans, at rest tends to stay at rest, thus it doesn't want to go in motion. When an object is in motion, it tends to stay in motion, it doesn't want to lose it.
I don't see much of a difference between "if" and "when", however. |
