Is boring. Let me elaborate. Currently its a snooze fest 2/3 of the time and usually when u cap all objectives the game just drags on
Solution: Make Skirmish 2.0 MORE like Titan Mode from BF2142 Right now skirmish 2.0 is a half ass titan mode + BF style conquest.
For those that dont know titan mode from bf 2142 basically its skirmish 2.0 BUT u can board the enemy titan and blow it up from the inside when the shields have been dropped.
Implement that in DUST. Let us board the MCC if the shields are down and either end the game quicker or if peeps are losing make a last ditch desperate attempt to win by assaulting the MCC if they get the shields down.
Give us options. Add some URGENCY to the game so even a team dominating has to be ready and on their toes to counter a possible MCC boarding attempt.
One thing i keep reading from ppls posts on the forum is that skirmish 2.0 lacks that urgency in battles. Thoughts guys?
PS: Also bring back Skirmish 1.0 or something similar along with updating skirmish 2.0, hopefully by letting us board the MCC, to make it more exciting. |

Excellent idea Mavado. Dust game modes currently just really feel like a generic version of every other FPS. I think most of us are wanting something that gives us a sense that what we are doing here is part of a persistent universe and victories and battles are actually changing the landscape of that universe somehow. I realize that, at launch, FW changes can be affected because of our battles, but I am afraid that during those battles it won't feel like we are "conquering" that territory but rather it will just feel like any other "flags-change-back-and-forth-until-a-timer-expires" game. A mode similar to what Mavado has suggested here would add a sense that we are taking this area over and are a real part of the New Eden persistent universe. |

+1 to OP and bringing back the old skirmish mode.
Loosing or winning by a huge margin is really boring and doesn't make you feel like there's anything else you can do. If something like this is added, we will have more options and enhance the whole experience. |

even the old skirmish had a better sense of urgency than this one. u had to get the 2 defense relays down before ur MCC shields ran out or u would lose. so the 1st part u only had half ur MCC life to play with and back then a viable tactic was having rail tanks and installations attack the MCC causing dmg but u cant do this anymore in skirmish 2.0
they also removed RRing the MCC as well with the flight ceiling i think |

Meh, skirmish 2.0 mostly needs skirmish 1.0.... This "run around in circle" game mode gets on my nerve..... Less tactical than that is difficult. |

make the game faster and bring back the mode in replication where you had to blow up objectives to open up the second map.
The endless circling around letters at slow pace makes the game slow.
map design and speed will create urgency |

how is it less tactical than the old skirmish? just because u are funneled into hot spots doesnt make it more tactical
its a "run around in circle" mode in PUBS because ur blue dots are always terrible. that didnt change in skirmish 1.0 either in skirmish 1.0 ur smurfs are just being funneled into hotzones that doesnt really make it more tactical |

Maybe, if specific points deal triple the damage of the normal null turrets but are very hard to maintain being inaccessible to vehicles, not being spawnable from, and the absence of installations |

Like both ideas by OP:
Skirmish 1.0 was fun, definitely placed that sense of urgency and constant action.
Plus the BF2142 idea is brilliant, it adds a solution to the whole 'red-lining' issue, board the MCC and bomb it from the inside,makes the last bits of the game exciting for both sides, plus its not like it would be an easy task, would be a lot of cqc plus perhaps a more open cargobay area (?) that would definitely be challenging for any attack....
the key is it makes it exciting, plus to be fair it is different since no one has really tried to get back to that style and this already fits the bill.
Also, giving a last ditch effort for a losing team that already had shields down is brilliant too, makes it so freaking exciting. Imagine, got a team down on the ropes, just a matter of burning them down, but then things get silent and doesnt seem to be much resistance. Then someone yells over the mic that they have drop ships up and headed toward the MCC..... maaan the beauty of it, would make me tear up.
Dropship should be a method to get in, but perhaps also make a tougher method which requires you to get under the MCC or something (or not, and make that an option for people who have dropships) |

yup and u got tanks on the other side scrambling to shoot derps with rails and derps gotta dodge rail fire an all sorts of AV hell to get their troops there for 1 last ditch attempt to win |

Redlines in the 1st 3 mins then waiting 7-10 mins fo the game to end is the most boring thing ever Give us an exciting way to end the match quickly and move onto the next one.
Ambush u can end a game quickly if the enemy is just that bad, skirmish needs that option but not just simply making the MCC take faster dmg if u control all points but instead something exciting so the losing team can pull a win out from the jaws of defeat if the winning team suffers a lapse in concentration |

I also want the two first skyrmish back(biomass and communication). It was so fun to cap every or almost every installation in order to destroy the two first objectives ( a sabotage-like with less requirements to destroy the 2 points), then a second part where you need to control 3 points ( this part was a domination-like with the enemy repawn near these points).
The only weakness for me was the few respawn points for the second part of battle, only 1 per letter, then only 2 spawn points near B letter (1 on the left and the other on the right at 3 meters of supply depot on biomass), same thing for communication, 1 repawn per letter, then (if I remember) it was a respawn next to the little labyrinthe close to C and the other one was in front of A batiment, beside few boxes, next to the gate on the right between A and B.
Well, all this description only to say "I want the first skyrmish back".
Also, a little off topic subject, I want more people on the battlefield, because 7-8 months of 16vs16 is going to be boring, so if you can put more players than 16vs16 per battle, your 24vs24 for example to begin with, a six people squad and also a "clan deploy" tool.
I want CCP to do all that, only if it is not going to mess up the game (e.g.: massive lags, because 24vs24 in a game).
I hope everybody can understand what I wrote, otherwise I'm sorry to impose you my limited english. |

Titans were freaking awesome to board on bf2142. The MCCs at this point are just basically a massive block of polys with a hole in it, it doesn't feel like a COMMAND center, it can easily be fitted with corridors and a generator.
But, like every single suggestion that's been supported by most people it will either be not looked at or it will be deemed as something that will come soonTM |

Reminds me a lot of what Guild Wars did right with their PvP (not much on the list to be honest)
The capture and hold scoring system was very basic, first to 500 wins, however you can storm the enemy castle and kill the king for 300 points. It encourages you to get reckless when you are losing, and really push yourself to the limit. Losing from over extending or pressing to hard is a hell of a lot more fun that losing by shuffling your feet together sitting in your MCC waiting for the end of the match you have 0% chance of winning. |

Actually, when I read about skirmish I thought "Hell yeah, BF2142 is back and kicking".
When I first jumped out of the MCC I thought "Coool...I hope there will be more such jumps!"
But then the reality of Dust514 hit me with its boring Skirmish where everyone is playing Sniper or Heavy... |

Might I suggest boarding be done by one ship firing several grappling hooks which punch into the enemy MCC's hull, allowing the players to go ziplining into it, much like a sci-fy version of how pirates would swing onto enemy ships.
This would be AWESOME!! |
