Well, we're looking at a late 2012 release either way. Sorry, they've got obligations to meet and a fanbase to please with their "early 2013 expansions," so good news for the gaming community, bad news for the timing... such a dilemma. |

They all have remained the same, or are still in great need of improvement. Communication has improved much more than the other aspects from what I have seen so far. Add: Grouping mechanics Player counts Matchmaking logic Bland maps No proxy chat Clearly there is about 2-3 years work left, at least, to turn this into a AAA release The concept is great, but the development methodology, the testing methodology and overall execution is sub-par. You don't get it do ya? Lol when eve came out in 2003 it was bugged, and half the features in the game now were not present on release, its taken time to get it to what it is now. Yes dust is buggy, yes it has problems, but over time it will improve. If this was going to be a disk release title then there would be worries but its not, its digital. So because its digital that means its constantly evolving and having bugs fixed and features added. This is not final release code, its beta code. Upon final release it may still have some bugs and not all announced features will be present but that will change over time. alot of people are coming into this BETA expecting a final release code, well it don't work that way. A game of this magnitude takes alot of time to develop and fix, the daily downtimes are not for ccp to go make tea and shoot pool........the daily downtimes are for fixing bugs. If ccp took dust offline altogether to fix it then y'all would be moaning about that too. If everything is not ironed out FOR release then it will be ironed out bit by bit AFTER release, just like eve was.......and look where eve is now. YOU dont get it do ya? The 'EvE online' approach WILL NOT work with the console fps community! Which dust 514 will NEED to survive for the long haul |

Could you name another company that is capable to make a MMO that last 10 years for me, especially nowaday ? How many game have said company made ? Basically if you have a good game, why make another? The problem with companies who make many games tend to abandon their current games such as EA did to E&B. Yes ccp has dust as well but thats an expansion onto EVE it self, there is however 1 other game that is not related to eve and that is world of darkness.
CCP has found ways such as update graphic engines, put new features in, oh and A LOT of nerfs that make ships seem like entirely new ships (hence there changing every frigate to perform new roles now), to keep the game interesting.
What people keep forgetting is that this is a MMO, which is a bit different than just a game that lasts for a year or 2, like EA's popular games such as battlefield, sims, madden, need for speed thats been getting new versions of them as the years go by instead of being just 1 same game.
I can safely say, being a EVE Subscriber for 9 years, that CCP is a very loyal company and will not let Dust turn into dust, they will end up releasing it with minimal features and basic gameplay and save bigger additions for future expansions which are of course free just like eve's expansions are; why put everything out now where people can become bored with them when they can put them out in installments and keep the game alive forever? |

Need for speed would be better if they used ccp's approach. Every time need for speed adds something they take away something the last game had away, a $60 expansion every year would be better then what they have been doing.
As far as I'm concerned there is only one need for speed game with full price expansions that come with game you all ready have that take away as much as they add, looks like call of duty is the same way. |

During the 2 or so months I've tested the game, I have noticed improvement in many of the game's elements such as the UI, player interaction, and visual effects. However, if the game were to release as it is in the coming months then I do not see how it will fair well to reviewers or players who aren't part of the EVE fanbase.
I am aware that it is a free MMO, and thus will forever be updated. (Considering CCP stays in business, which is likely)
Despite that, the game is not ready to be revealed to the public in this state (in my opinion). No matter if it were $60 retail or came bundled for free with every PS3 system, being released in this state will be inexcusable.
My complaints mostly stem from that the game is both technically and fundamentally broken on numerous aspects. According to other player previews, these issues have not been fixed for well over several months. This leads me to infer that they won't be fixed completely in the coming months as well. Yet, while the bigger issues are either being ignored (or at least not being addressed to the players as often), new features are being added with their own issues. Would it be better to focus more on the core mechanics of shooting, connectivity, and stability before worrying about nerfing weapons?
This game has huge potential, but I truly think a release around this time next year would be the best option. You only been in for 2 months? Had you played the build before e3 then you would see how much its improved, but also it has taken a few steps back. And we all going to die Dec 21 anyway lol, so they may release early to give us a few days before the zombie apocalypse

It took them 10 YEARS to get EVE where it is now by that time PS5 would be on it's way. What will happen if PS4 drops and gets a planetside 2 port or Sony decides to give the Planetside devs a crack at MAG 2? 10 years is to long for a console game. This is why I said months ago CCP should just take it to the PC and be done with it. I agree with Regis. And I do get it. I've been saying in so many posts, there is at least three years of work to bring dust up to scratch to AAA standard. There is no doubt that there will be a MAG 2 on PS4, probably a launch title. The problem for ccp is that there will be better quality fps games, maybe not as deep in terms of mmo as dust, but better game play, and people won't play dust if it remains like this.... All a developer needs to do is make a 32vs32 game with clan battle support, solid FPS mechanics, a bit of eye candy and a perpetual clan leader board, and that'll be the end of dust on the console... Now look at the sentence above and you see what ccp need to fix to stay in the game for a long time.... - increase player counts - improved FPS mechanics - better grouping mechanics - better graphics Those four things, done properly, will keep the game kicking with solid numbers from launch, for years, because dust already has the persistence and open universe sorted....
I agree with all of this.
I know so many people who would play this game if JUST the shooting mechanics were brought up to speed. |

Not that it matters anyway, since the date is based on the assumption (which was true at the time) that leap years don't happen. 21st of december by the timing that made that date accurate was last year sometime.
And besides, it's just the time where the Mayan calendar expired, nothing to be concerned about. If the were still around, their timekeeping would be due for a reset. Just like when you check your watch and realise that it's about 5 mins fast and have to wind it back occasionally. Only with bigger numbers. |
