April or May makes a lot of sense, since April is the Eve Fanfest and May (6th) marks 10 years since Eve launched. |

Having been an eve pilot for quite a few years and having seen it evolve day after day, week on week and year on year. I have faith that CCP will turn this around, i would love it to release dec2012 but if we have to wait till 2013 then so be it, at least the game will be polished and wont disapoint new comers. But from CCPs track record, be ready for any suprises! |

well i maybe wrong at saying this whole statement but someone can correct me if im wrong on this but didn't this game drop for beta Originally almost a year ago back in December of last year ? far as i know yes it did or their abouts . ok with that being said they have had right at a year to perfect what they want for the actual release of this game for that reason this game is now by my count on its 4th build which the 5th build i would assume their in would be the final install of the beta and seems more and more likely it will be sometime in November we will see Build 5 .
because you all know their are lets see 3-5 beta steps to go through or at least CCP is anyways . they are 1: Private Closed Beta Trials , 2:Private Beta ,3:Closed Beta ,4:Beta and coming soon 5: Open Beta (which is the beta will happen weeks prior to the release of the game in this case most of time it can be a few months before release of game ) . so with the process of the beta itself and the builds which is suppose to be 5 builds for the beta and assuming they are improving much better with each build that 5 will be final build of the beta and be the Open Beta for all . with that being said i think (IMHO and my two cents) it will release sometime around x-mas or their abouts and Open beta opening up for all to play this game just a few weeks before that. and it seems that CCP itself are tight lipped about its at the moment so anyones guess as good as the next ones . and if beta has been out for over a year now it would mean that should be well enough time for the actual release of the game to come out weather people are ready for it or not and seeing how Sony has a track record of wanting things to go their way i would assume it would make good business sense for them to release this game around x-mas(December) or their abouts when everyone is out buying gifts for themselves and others that CCP/Sony could make some serious bank off the holiday season with people buying AUR for this game and other stuff they might add at release that would provide a big boost for them both . i mean after all doesn't that make sense ? to me it does but that's just my two cents . |

my silly guess (2 cents)...
1) open beta will start in early November with a wipe and move to TQ (which should fix a lot of lag issues and 5pt map issues). Full Eve integration and open market to sell items and give items to corp mates/corp. personally, i'd prefer to give salvage and unneeded items directly to the corp and let corp mates either take what they want from that, or have it distributed upon request by the CEO.
2) we will all test this version, and it will be basically the "final build".
3) release will occur right before Xmas = 4th Q 2012.
my guess is based on nothing at all except for reasoning due to the suspected release date of 4th Q 2012.
the statement that CCP has the final build (or at least next "open beta" build) on hand already is more than likely true. does anyone really think they pulled this current build out of thin air 2 weeks ago? didn't think so. the Dev will always be 1 step ahead of the market... in these terms us beta testers. |

During the 2 or so months I've tested the game, I have noticed improvement in many of the game's elements such as the UI, player interaction, and visual effects. However, if the game were to release as it is in the coming months then I do not see how it will fair well to reviewers or players who aren't part of the EVE fanbase.
I am aware that it is a free MMO, and thus will forever be updated. (Considering CCP stays in business, which is likely)
Despite that, the game is not ready to be revealed to the public in this state (in my opinion). No matter if it were $60 retail or came bundled for free with every PS3 system, being released in this state will be inexcusable.
My complaints mostly stem from that the game is both technically and fundamentally broken on numerous aspects. According to other player previews, these issues have not been fixed for well over several months. This leads me to infer that they won't be fixed completely in the coming months as well. Yet, while the bigger issues are either being ignored (or at least not being addressed to the players as often), new features are being added with their own issues. Would it be better to focus more on the core mechanics of shooting, connectivity, and stability before worrying about nerfing weapons?
This game has huge potential, but I truly think a release around this time next year would be the best option.
this game gets better with every big patch.

MAG was extremely successful for new IP.
It had the most active community out of all the PS3 shooters.
There is huge commercial potential in a MAG 2, just needs to be executed properly.
You can bet it will be made for PS4, it will have 512 player battles, clan wars, better MMO and persistence mechanics and I'm sure whomever develops it will make more than 3 maps for every game mode.....
MAG was too early, it needed better hardware and players with better connections, which by 2014, will be available.....
Just you wait and see. |

Keep dreaming.
There will never be a MAG 2,and people really need to get use to this idea.
First and foremost, there's no one to develop it.If Sony decided to hire a studio to develop it,I'm positive that it wouldn't be close to the same game as the first on.
I will say, that if there is a MAG 2,it ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT be called MAG 2.If anything, they will totally rebrand it,try to keep the core mechanics and add new things, but a straight up MAG 2 will never happen. There are just too many people that would see that name and keep away from it.
My personal opinion is that the one factor that helped kill MAG in the first place was Scot Rudi, and his brilliant idea to add random bullet spread in the infamous patch 1.03,and to do it about two weeks before BFBC 2 came out.People left in droves after that, with a lot of them to never return.I don't thing that those people left would be enticed to pick up MAG 2.
MAG ended up being a product of Sony's unwillingness to take a leap of faith and pour as much support into a game that need it,for whatever reason. Is there really any reason to think that they would do anything different with MAG2?

It won't be going out in it's current state. The EVE hookup and a lot of the add-ons (webs, etc) aren't even in play yet. Those are really big deals. Way too early to say it's no good as-is... we're at the tip of the iceburg. The core mechanics need to be tweaked, yes, but that's an ongoing process with MMO's. Even MMO's that have been out for years still perform balancing tweaks. I know it's frustrating, but give it time. It's still in beta for cripes sake... they usually have to be released for a number of years before they really start nailing balance. |

Check the sales figures and laugh at your own comment. Whether you thought it was successful or not is irrelevant. Check your facts before you mess with me. You lose.
And Th3rdsun, given that games in the list below with similar figures are either sequels, or have had further versions made or in progress, I'd say the same logic will apply to MAG.

The implementation of new features needs to happen more often. The balancing is taking way too long and it doesn't need to. Like the OP mentioned, core elements of the game such as stability, lag, and movement need to be smoothed out. |

Blizzard have made quite a few games. WoW did pretty well I'd say. Wasn't my thing, obviously wasn't yours. I gave up playing PC games when I got my ps3. You could class d2 as an MMO. Up to a point. That game was the best :D But anyway, CCP made a great game with EvE but it's not exactly high paced moment to moment game play. It's a large part of why I can't get into EvE. Freelancer was better, but not really MMO. (ps Discovery Mod is essential to freelancer. 144 player 23/7 server is the awesomeness. Must log in again sometime). I just have no more faith in CCP than any other company developing it's second major release. |

Bored of dust. But after my morning walk, chin ups and breakfast it will be time to put in six to eight hours on Planetside 2.
When I play dust, it keeps my attention for maybe two hours maximum in any one sitting, before it gets boring and frustrating. |

I wouldn't say that it's sound logic considering that the majority of these games mentioned were developed by studios not subsidiaries of Sony.
Here's some sound logic for you.If you were so sure that MAG would get a sequel, then why did Sony have Zipper work on another SOCOM game (that was a total failure),and even after that,a game for the Vita,Unit 13?Answer,because they have no interest on another MAG title, end of story.
If they would've been interested in another MAG,they wouldn't have shut Zipper down, and they would have had them developing it right now as we speak,so that it could be ready for the PS4's launch. As it is,they let the game lie in it's own grave, just waiting for the final step of someone to cover dirt over it.
People need to wake up from their starry eyed fantasies of there ever being another MAG game.Like I said before, the only think that might happen is that Sony makes a game very similar to MAG with more stuff to it and similar gameplay mechanics, but not having the MAG title.

Zipper were working on something when shut down.
Sony was greedy, that's why they sacrificed quality for cost on socom and same reason they stopped work on MAG.
And you obviously don't know the industry - because - top of the list - Kill zone - is made by a fully owned subsiduary of Sony.
When Forgelight engine is released for PS4, the MAG 2 talk will become official. Wait and see.

And you obviously don't know the industry - because - top of the list - Kill zone - is made by a fully owned subsiduary of Sony. When Forgelight engine is released for PS4, the MAG 2 talk will become official. Wait and see. Obviously you can't read, because I said "the majority of these games mentioned were developed by studios not subsidiaries of Sony.",which I was referring to Socom AND Killzone as games that are Sony subs.
And please, just tell me who is going to develop it anyway?
Oh,and how in the hell does not supporting a game make you greedy? |

And Th3rdsun, given that games in the list below with similar figures are either sequels, or have had further versions made or in progress, I'd say the same logic will apply to MAG.
From vgchartz -
MAG global sales - 1.25 million EXCLUDING DIGITAL SALES
Similar games below:
Killzone 2 (2.87m) Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (2.72m) Medal of Honor (2.56m) Killzone 3 (2.35m) Resistance 2 (2.34m) Borderlands (1.68m) Call of Duty 3 (1.36m) BioShock 2 (1.34m) Portal 2 (1.33m) Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 (1.29m) Far Cry 2 (1.26m) Battlefield: Bad Company (1.23m) Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas (1.21m) Resistance 3 (1.21m) SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation (1.17m) Dead Space 2 (1.17m) Rage (1.15m) Army of Two (1.11m) Medal of Honor: Airborne (1.10m) Deus Ex: Human Revolution (1.06m)
I'd say the developer will remain confidential till announced....
And when I say greed, its pretty simple...MAG was unfinished, Clan wars should have been added, but Sony told Zipper to focus on getting another release out to generate fresh revenue, rather than fixing a product that they already had taken money for, made promises about, but then not implemented...
If MAG had a proper clan war system, with a clan league table, a lot of people here would not be here....because that type of competitive team play environment is what people liked, indeed why many thought that corporation battles in dust could be the substitute for lack of clan war in MAG......
But all of this is not related to the topic.
Point remains that dust is a shambles that needs a lot of work, probably 2-3 years, before it could be considered an AAA FPS release.
If ccp are hiding a better version, let's see it then.

This game has huge potential, but I truly think a release around this time next year would be the best option. this game gets better with every big patch. you're deluded. Just as deluded with anyone that thinks that there's going to be a MAG 2. Yeah guess they didnt know Zipper Closed last year very sad indeed |
