During the 2 or so months I've tested the game, I have noticed improvement in many of the game's elements such as the UI, player interaction, and visual effects. However, if the game were to release as it is in the coming months then I do not see how it will fair well to reviewers or players who aren't part of the EVE fanbase.
I am aware that it is a free MMO, and thus will forever be updated. (Considering CCP stays in business, which is likely)
Despite that, the game is not ready to be revealed to the public in this state (in my opinion). No matter if it were $60 retail or came bundled for free with every PS3 system, being released in this state will be inexcusable.
My complaints mostly stem from that the game is both technically and fundamentally broken on numerous aspects. According to other player previews, these issues have not been fixed for well over several months. This leads me to infer that they won't be fixed completely in the coming months as well. Yet, while the bigger issues are either being ignored (or at least not being addressed to the players as often), new features are being added with their own issues. Would it be better to focus more on the core mechanics of shooting, connectivity, and stability before worrying about nerfing weapons?
This game has huge potential, but I truly think a release around this time next year would be the best option.
Actually, the stuff they're adding is needing to be tested. Release is scheduled for later this year; otherwise, Sony would null the contract and this game will be scrapped. They have to keep giving us more to test. Yeah. Its going to be a long 2 months, but this new stuff they keep adding has to be tested, or else full release will be a long way's away. We gotta test all this stuff, and we gotta make sure we streamline this testing as best we can, or the game'll suffer.

Well that's disappointing. I understand the need to test new implementations, but what good is that when the core foundations remain unchanged? Couldn't these newer concepts be introduced once the game is stable enough for an initial public release?
They probably will set up the core foundations and such before long. Have a little faith in CCP, they've done this before. |

CCP as 2 versions of dust
the release version-which only they have access to atm
and the beta version-which we are playing the hell out of
they add content to the beta to see how it works and if it does it is then implemented into the release game what we are playing is constantly updated and subject to change every single day .
Mother of... CCP... is trolling us... MORE THAN GABE NEWELL! |

Well, we're looking at a late 2012 release either way. Sorry, they've got obligations to meet and a fanbase to please with their "early 2013 expansions," so good news for the gaming community, bad news for the timing... such a dilemma. |
