you're high.
that's exactly what happens: you play more, you get better. the game rewards you with unlocking better gear, you play more, you get better.
what you want is "montessori video gaming" = everyone comes in first because the devs do a bunch of handholding to protect you from the facts that you are finding out right now. you weren't as good as you thought you were and now this game proves it to you because better players own you and you blame the game.
typical.
Peace B That's the problem it's completely devoid of skill. It's whoever has the better gear wins not who is the better player. yea, knowing the game/maps/modes ect is a huge enough advantage in every other game and too throw more advantages on top of that is crazy.
Except for the fact that with Dust going to have something around 3000 maps, how can you ever get use to them? You can't.
Unlike every other shooter where you play the same maps over and over and over again until you learn every single nook and cranny, you will actually be in a lot of territories for the first time all the time, putting more emphasis on team play, and not making this just another run and gun shooter, that tries to pass itself off as a squad based shooter.

You just said it and contradicted yourself right there. The maps aren't too big,it's that the squads are too small.
Seems like there's a new thing to QQ about every single week.
First it's the AR's are OP,then it's the strafe speed, now it's that the maps are too big.
Always something with you people.

Maps are to big for 16 v 16 increasing squad cap wont make the maps smaller. Only player count can do that. |

da fauq you talkin about man with tactics you can take out an advanced heavy suit with the starter assault loadout. the skill is in the tactics you use like (sorry howdidthattaste) he is one of the best heavys in the game with great gear and lots of skill but if you sneak up on him you can kill him with an AR easy hell if he is caught out in the open you can kill him with an AR easy. this game takes a lot more skill then lone wolf bunny hoping and I like the way it is. maps are a little large (besides biomass and communication). |

LOL every single dust map looks like a copy of the previous one, no originality in them at all.
Infact i can make a dust map on unity 3d in about 5 minutes

But if the player count on a said "too big" map were increased by say 2x,then all of that open space wouldn't seem like such a big deal.I bet if it were 16 vs 16 on a MAG domo map, that would seem too big too, wouldn't it?see how that works?
Man,I thought I'd never see the day that anyone was actually complaining about a map in a shooter being too big.

Big maps and low player count doesn't mix well at all. Why do you think bf3 players on console constantly ask for player count increase? |

PDIGGY22 wrote:SoTa PoP wrote:PDIGGY22 wrote:SoTa PoP wrote:no, people want a game EXACTLY like this, but the beta doesn't hold up to the hype CCP made it out to be.
One of the things that made me say "I WANT" is the commander role, playing RTS in an FPS tickled the hell out of me. I was going to specialize that role and be commander like no other, but nope, not even any word about the class.
Maps are too big, 16 vs 16 for this games idea is too small, vehicles either are useless or dominate an unprepared team, and CCP doesn't seem to want to relax our anxiety over this game at all. There's several threads stating how distraught people are by CCP and how they're handling the builds and whipes and yet no reply to even say, "It's okay peeps, this is only half our features compared to the real game."
Oh, but they're more then willing to comment if we bump a recruitment thread. o.0 NOBODY wants a game that simply makes you better just because you play it more, nothing rewarding about killing someone and knowing it was all due to your equipment vs your opponents equipment What? Sorry but I disagree, no one wants another Call of Duty where the only thing you can do to advance is get more (pointless) OP weapons. If I put down 100 hours on this game and the person I'm facing just started, I better own his face, especially considering it costs ISK that gets taken from me on death to be better then him. And to push my point further, militia gear kills well enough of the majority of players. So what if you have to run from a heavy, you'd have to run from a tank too, no difference, both put up ISK to be where they're at. You're given enough starting SP to not be completely useless if you spec right. And if you find you did mess up, start over. A proper reward system is exactly what FPS is missing, but it's also missing RPG elements imo. Killzone 3 was nice, just wasn't much fun once you realized you should grab an LMG and crouch everytime you see an enemy for perfect aim. No one wants another COD? maybe not you but black ops 2 is shaping up to be the highest selling game OF ALL TIME. This game won't put 1% of the numbers online that COD does. There is no incentive to play this game once you've missed out on the head start, newcomers will get destroyed to the point of never wanting to play it again. You need to have balance in a competitive play, and so far, there is not and only seems to get worse every build. Every single good thing about this game is still on PAPER and not one thing in the game play is truly impressive Hell the game still looks the same from the video FROM 2009
You have no idea what you are talking about seriously. None at all. One percent of Call of Duty's highest numbers on at once is about twenty thousand or so and that is going by day two numbers on the Xbox360 from what I remember. As for how it looks though that is subjective, but everytime I hear someone comment about graphics, all I can do is laugh aloud. CCP has already stated they will be seperating players by release and that the level of players you play with will be based off several factors, and there will also be secs with equipment limiters from what I heard in the past. So you are over exaggerating on a lot of ends. I'm not defending everything CCP has done; they have done enough to tick me off, and make me upset. Especially like tonight -- what happened to the mics in-game? However over exaggerting is supperlfous, and unnecessary.
As for your comment about "nerds" and whatnot.. I cannot believe you even used that word, but whatever. It was a suggestion. I do not know you, and I do not know what you have played or not.
Nonetheless this game will easily net twenty-thousand and more. What CCP needs to do is set their priorities straight though. Like not taking vacations or time off during this stage of development, or being so silent about what is happening to a game most of us have a stake in. |

You guys would argue about the color of sky not being blue, which it isn't. xD
But anyways, I only mentioned CoD because of the popularity it receives, it's a great game, kinda, but do you really want another replica of an old formula? BF3 can get away with it since I can blow a building up, but I'd like to see some more originality, which at least CCP is trying at.
And if you believe any FPS is truly balanced you're fooling yourself. I seem to recall everyone using Fumas in CoDMW2 for a reason. And matches where all the high level people get put on the same team vs the low level people. The idea of balance is both teams being completely equal. How can you possibly achieve that? When this game goes live, anyone with an eve friend will be getting some heavy ISK, so they're at an advantage, should we complain about that? How about that most of the people who will be joining have no connections to Eve at all? I'm sure they'll love getting pounded on from space. Where's the true complaints of balance that actually mean something to the mechanic of the game that CCP is trying to create? These petty ones brought up so far are just smoke compared to the issues comin' up that may make or break this game publicly.
And anyone else says the squads of 4 are too small for a 16v16 game I'm just going to ignore it. It's just... dumb. Maps need to be 24vs24 at the lowest, and still no 6 man squad. I'm sure the people cryin' for more in there squad either just want everyone to play together or want some OP team. I'd prefer if they added a raid style system like MMORPG's use where squads can Q-sync together.
And my last comment: When this game goes live it's going to get SWARMED. There's a ton of hype around DUST and many people are highly interested but didn't get a beta key or weren't willing to pay 20 for one. But more then that, it's FREE. Who the hell wouldn't try out some massive FPS MMORPG that's making gaming history when it costs you nothing and you have the chance to change the galaxy for two games on two separate systems? |
