For those who don't know, in cod, you can call in a Chinook helicopter that gives you a box for a random killstreak. But since this game has no such thing as killstreaks, then I wish for deployable objects that come in in Support drops. The objects could be called in by the commander (see commander thread here: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=352974#post352974 .) can be things like large shield emplacements ( the shields from this thread: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=349101#post349101, only bigger.), emplaced launchers, blasters, forge cannons, large nanohives, and more into the base. Then, a dropship can come in, attach it to the bottom, and fly away with it. When it finds the spot it wants to place it down, it can cycle to it from the equipment cycle, and it will drop (or something similar). And then players can then "hack" it, and then the box will open, and the item will be ready to use.
OR
You could have a new sort of vehicle that could carry things like this, maybe even small vehicles around the map. It would be the same process, only that the care packages would have to be loaded onto the vehicle (maybe a semi- truck type thing?).
EDIT: these are not instulations. instulations are not ment for light vehicles and self infintry. These are for mainly squad help. It's not ment as a offence killer, more of a support role. Under no way in hell would I stand for doing something for x times and getting rewarded. Futhermore, that second killstreak was a typo, and I didn't spot it, so sorry. Lastly, The cod, care package+name (which I changed) was just an example. Damn, you guys are so reluctant to change..... |

I'd be more than happy to send you thorium-tipped care packages from the sextet of 125mm railguns on my destroyer flown by my EVE character.
But you won't like them when they get there.

care packages require people to actually care.
guess what, people don't care. you are paid to do a job and your "care packages" are precision strikes that 90% of the game is too dumb to use. |

Maybe not care packages... but I don't see any reason you couldn't PAY for an ammo drop in the form of a large orbital delivery nanohive. |

Commanders will be able to deploy installations to support their team, so I don't think this the ability to call down packages to support the team is necessary. Commanders are coming, and they will command from the MCC. |

I'm fairly sure KAGEHOSHI read the thread.
He's not trashing your idea WHz, he's pointing out an angle that you might not have thought up. A Care Package mechanic is designed to give support or aid to a single individual (which is why it's a kill streak offensively) and does not really lend itself well to the concept of teamplay.
Notice that he never said it was a bad idea, just that it isn't necessary. Would you rather have a personal little box of ammunition or a supply depot delivered to you because the surrounding infantry need it too?
I'm starting to think that all you did was read his response, assume it was negative because it intoned that care packages aren't needed, and then went off without much thought into what he really said... not too constructive broheim. |

Where would these uplinks and nanohives be coming from? Those Precision Strikes are (when the game is officially released) be coming from EvE players, not from an NPC ship like it is now. Everything in this game is coming from or will come from something. It has to be made/bought and then used. Nothing is just given, except for now because we're in BETA and we're testing for the all the shenanigans. |

NO!!!! No offense dude but this isn't COD, it isn't bf3, it isn't medal of honor. Care packages do not belong in dust, please do not try to be one of those chuckleheads who are trying to convert our beloved dust into something that some of us hate (cod). If you need that swarm launcher but don't have it, if you need that sniper rifle but didn't equip it.....then that's your fault and you should have taken care of it before you deployed, or create multiple fits like alot of us so you can choose from supply depot or when you respawn I.e logi sniper, logi AV, logi assault, scout assault, scout AV..........you get the idea. |

Like I said, you didn't read the post. None of you have, actually. You just read the title, and got mad. The drops aren't just magically appearing out of thin air; there called in, just like a vehicle is, but it's for things more useful (like an emplaced gun, or a big nanohive.). And it doesn't just arrive to you; It has to be brung to you via a dropship (or the land vehicle idea), that had to go to base, and pick it up. You guys really have some anger issues..... |

If you actually read the post everything he suggested is in the works... Basically everyone's just upset because he mention call of duty and care packages.
A summary of the post is really "Can we give commanders the ability to drop structures and gear that can be moved and deployed on the battlefield?", answer is SOON.... |
