For those who don't know, in cod, you can call in a Chinook helicopter that gives you a box for a random killstreak. But since this game has no such thing as killstreaks, then I wish for deployable objects that come in in Support drops. The objects could be called in by the commander (see commander thread here: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=352974#post352974 .) can be things like large shield emplacements ( the shields from this thread: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=349101#post349101, only bigger.), emplaced launchers, blasters, forge cannons, large nanohives, and more into the base. Then, a dropship can come in, attach it to the bottom, and fly away with it. When it finds the spot it wants to place it down, it can cycle to it from the equipment cycle, and it will drop (or something similar). And then players can then "hack" it, and then the box will open, and the item will be ready to use.
OR
You could have a new sort of vehicle that could carry things like this, maybe even small vehicles around the map. It would be the same process, only that the care packages would have to be loaded onto the vehicle (maybe a semi- truck type thing?).
EDIT: these are not instulations. instulations are not ment for light vehicles and self infintry. These are for mainly squad help. It's not ment as a offence killer, more of a support role. Under no way in hell would I stand for doing something for x times and getting rewarded. Futhermore, that second killstreak was a typo, and I didn't spot it, so sorry. Lastly, The cod, care package+name (which I changed) was just an example. Damn, you guys are so reluctant to change..... |

Like I said, you really didn't read it. All you saw was Care packages and went ape **** at me. Would you be happy if I/CCP called them support drops? |

No offense dude but this isn't COD, it isn't bf3, it isn't medal of honor. Care packages do not belong in dust, please do not try to be one of those chuckleheads who are trying to convert our beloved dust into something that some of us hate (cod). If you need that swarm launcher but don't have it, if you need that sniper rifle but didn't equip it.....then that's your fault and you should have taken care of it before you deployed, or create multiple fits like alot of us so you can choose from supply depot or when you respawn I.e logi sniper, logi AV, logi assault, scout assault, scout AV..........you get the idea.
Like I said, you didn't read the post. None of you have, actually. You just read the title, and got mad. The drops aren't just magically appearing out of thin air; there called in, just like a vehicle is, but it's for things more useful (like an emplaced gun, or a big nanohive.). And it doesn't just arrive to you; It has to be brung to you via a dropship (or the land vehicle idea), that had to go to base, and pick it up. You guys really have some anger issues..... |

Baal Jagorin wrote:Wow, did you even bother to look at what you can call in without some kind of rediculous killstreak bonus? No? Lets take a quick look.
Emplaced weapon turrets modded to your liking.
Vehicles fit-able to any situation -Tanks with missle launcers mounted blasters and CRU's -Drop ships mounted with door guns of many varities and CRU's -LAV's with small weapon turrets of multiple types
The first wave of orbital strikes that can't kill team members. (another rant in and of itself)
There are even things you can carry
Nano hives that can supply and heal team members Spawn beacons Medical and repair equipment
There is no point in care packages in this game because a well rounded squad properly equiped and organised can competently and successfully handle nearly any situation encounted on the battleground using only squad organic weapons and tools.
The big weapon turrets won't fit into a little area. I mean something like a deployable HMG with sheilds, or a MGL (like the MK19, or a M134.) in a smaller enviroment that using a LAV or tank wouldjust get you killed.
I'm talking about Nano Hives that can resupply faster and heal faster than regular ones, and are bigger than normal, and are harder to kill (same with the spwan beacons.) .I was also thinking about sending in base level gear that was disposalable, like a wuick swarm launcher to scare away that tank.
Care packages could be useful, and has a point in Dust. You just see the name, and start raging because I got it off of cod. Yes, I took the name, but how they work is so different, that it's not even funny. stop raging, and step up and say that you were wrong, because your just going to make yourself look stupid, K (BTW, would it make you feel better if I called them support packages?)? |

Aesiron Kor-Azor wrote:The Dust 514 soldiers are super soldiers, they have heat resistant armour, repair modules, implants, regenerative biotic attachments, equipment, weapons.
They will never need any of those things that aren't already able to be called in as installations.
And calling them 'care packages' in the first place was just no.
So being in the middle of a battle (when they get into the 64v64+ battles on the conquest sized maps) and your almost/out of ammo and your squad is out of nanohives, and I won't need these things? I think not. Plus, the instulations are static, meaning they are stuck there. If your moving only one, you could (possibily, if they use my idea) use just one MTAC and you got a mobile one, which it will have aginst a instulation. these are just weaker than the instulations. |
