WHY why would you not JUST CHANGE the hav armor buff?. you cannot fly a dropship anymore.. it was easy to lose dropships with great skill on it and still dodging missles.. now 20% bounus to swarms.. are you mad? EXPENSIVE dropships are not even worth having anymore.. no.. ONLY NERF THE BUFFING ON TANKS.. did you even look at the fits of these people? |

With the Nerf with tanks, I see Tanks fighting side by side with infantry. Before, tanks were acting like Gods.
The Dropship will have it's buff in later build, I think. One reason for the buff is not for the swarm launchers, it's the new weapon they're going to introduce on the next build. It's called WebSlinger. I think it uses a net to slow down dropships.
Edit: I can see what CCP is trying to do. They're trying to implement teamwork. Having said that tanks are now working side by side with the infantry, it seems the action is more consistent. |

You can still fly your drop ship, its just like flying a more or less real transport chopper now, you either stay as high as you can go so enemy won't see you or you stay as close to the ground as you possibly can to use buildings and terrain as cover, I've been using the later tactic and my gunner got 12 kills and we only died because I put my drop ship right in-front of a squad of Swarm launchers.
Sure the swarm buff is really annoying, but please don't just stop flying you can still do it and survive in the process if you're careful, you won't make a KDR of a tank nor will your gunners, but it is still possible to be airborne. |

Sorry, but when exactly could a forge nearly 1 shot a marauder? LoL no. Not until now. Fear not. Infantry love Dropship pilots, and I'm sure we will support Air to surface missiles as another module in addition to chaff launchers. Because flying Dropships is cool. Not like sniping or being in a godtank. |

The only thing that really changed was how aggressively they nerfed Shield Amplifiers. I'm fairly sure even after the 20% buff to damage, they're still a tad weaker than they were just a few weeks ago. The shield amp nerf is really what all the fuss is about right now, and long range forge guns make me SO happy ^_^ |

the only problem with that is that most won't get in a dropship thats acturally one of the reason why many dropships are used as gunships unless you got a cru and then even some won't use it |

One reason why players are into tanks on this build it's because dropships were useless. Also, tanks were like one man army commando friendly. Even with the teamwork effort, a well fitted tank is still unbeatable.
With this changes, is just temporary. As far as I can see, the changes made the gameplay more team oriented. Tanks are now fighting side by side with the infantry, instead of tanks going on their own business. Remember, It's not all about you.

It's good to hear that low flying works as I was going to give it a shot tomorrow. Those who master it now will only be that much further ahead of everyone else when chaff/flares are introduced. I'm happy to see player skill replacing tanking as the method to sty alive and effective. |

It's not about that anymore. The forge guns still deal crazy damage, and if you're flying low and fast through the spikes on the spikes map to lose them like I do, then the forge gunners will get you easily.
Right now, there's no way for a pilot to win.
Your gunners MUST get kills for you to get SP. No kills no SP. We don't even get points for using a mobile CRU or dropping off/picking up players. |

The cru will give sp next build I heard.
The swarms are still nerfed, they were 350 reduced to 250 now at 300. 300 could still be a good number. Remember this build started with current forge and 350 damage swarms. The resistance module nerf still hurts, seems overkill, hopefully it will end up between current and pre-nerf soon. |

This. I fly dropship, but there is so little incentive, except the joy of flying.
I wish we can get SP for good flying, such as losing a swarm lock on will give us SP, will encourage more use and better flying skills and to risk bringing your gunner/payload to the target.
Also i think Dropship needs a eject passenger function or at leased a siren to tell them to jump, its a dropship right?
So why can't i drop my troops off at a enemy objective? instead i have to hover and scream at them to jump, except most of them don't have voice chat on?
Worse, is when i'm badly hurt going down trying to find a place to dump it where it's not too close to the enemy and just as im about to jump out, i see my entire team spawn inside. Couldn't tell them to jump, had only enough time to try and level the ship and drop out myself.
I look back to see my ship explode in mid-air, bodies flying everywhere.........
The nightmares. It haunts me sometimes.

Seriously, I play alot with Nakaya and now we cant even fly drop-ships! They're just not worth risking at this point. the +20 buff to swarms was not the answer . What should have happened was HAV armor buffs had to be re-balanced considering that swarms weren't doing anything to them while drop-ships were getting thrown all over the place like a rag-doll. |

4000 shield shield recharge 30 % 1000 armour 2 missile turrets 455 hp damage and damage modifier 700 000 isk each taken down with 3 shots from a swarm launcher i didnt have time to go for cover i have tried everything to make my ship survive longer nothing works. also i think they should make it harder for random idiots to jump into ur dropship and crash it i was rounding up my squad giving them cover with the turret when some idiot jumped into the pilot seat and crashed into 2 buildings then the ground and destroyed my ship even team members should need to hack it to fly it . |

I just got thu an ambush on the spiky rock map and it was vvvvv harsh. Only able to do it buy flying reallly really low and ducking behind the rocks and stuff. The problem is once you kill everyone they all come back as swarms and you got no place to go. Wish we could recall stuff back up to the warbarge.
Ah well its more fun than ever. |

i agree low flying and using the terrain to ur advantage is a good strategy but some kind of countermeasure and warning to swarm lock on would be very handy especially for large open maps that have very little spots to escape fire and i agree with the earlier point pilots need more incentive they should make the dropships fraggo friendly so the longer its alive the more points u rack up i get more points from landing on a building and firing my own turrets than i do for flying around the entire game with 2 gunners .also if u could communicate the location of swarm troopers to ground troops . |

The only real problem i have with dropships is how much they jerk around when hit. The forge gun range might be a little too long range and the swarms could have their damage reduced slightly. Other than that ive been doing fine in a well fit myron. Last game my gunners went 24-0 and 17-0. We all got 170,000+ sp and about 300,000 isk |

Add me, I want to see how you did that. I made it through 12 minutes of a match before the forge guns got me, and that's the best i've done. I'm gonna assume that game was an anomaly and nobody got AV out for you.
I agree the forge gun range is too long again, and I'm a forge gunner. The forge gun is supposed to be anti-tank and the swarms should be anti-air. I think thats the balance CCP needs to go for. Limit the forge gun range again, give dropships Chaff (which I hear they are going to do), and for the love of god give dropships sp/isk for spawns and pickups.
Before the buff I could actually make a little money flying, now I've gotta ground pound for 3-4 games to make enough to fly for half of a game. I realize this is only temporary until the next build, but aside from actually enjoying flying there's no point in being a dropship pilot. |

I always fly with the same gunners and they have mics. Good communication is a must. If we see 1-2 different swarm launchers ewe fly straight to them and my gunners concentrate their fire. More than that and we run away, flying as fast as i can and as low tote ground as i can. I dont use any armor repair modules because both gunners always use repair tools.
The key to surviving a team full of swarm players is to go straight at them. Demoralize them enough by killing them everytime they fire and they will spend the rest of the match either hiding or dying. Forge guns are a different problem, but as long as you and your gunners stay aware you should be able to avoid them. |
