Gonna say last week I think it occured. They changed it because they wanted modules to play a larger role then the suits. So main suit differences now are pg/CPU and slots |

Last Friday. When I spent 1.7 mil SP getting advanced... Doh. They are still superior although not nearly so much. I basically get 5% damage over a type 2 suit. And I cost a lot more. |

Honestly never noticed, but if all of the dropsuits start off with the same base armor, and shielding then I am all for it. The only thing the dropsuit advancement level should be for is PG (Power Grid), CPU (Central Processing Unit) and module space. Which actually balances the game greatly in my opinion. Making everything much more purposeful. I think CCP did a good job on this. I have no qualms with this actually. Good to know that. |

No. If anything the prices are better now then ever, and the ISK income is fine at the moment. The only items in question for decrease would be "militia" grade equipment if they do become non-BPO (Blueprint Originals). Other then those items everything at the moment is priced fine. |

I think it is just a beta thing for testing purposes and quite possibly will revert back to the old style in a future build. At least I hope that is the case, as the cost of Advanced and Proto suits is too steep to not have that increase in HPs/shields when you upgrade. |

Maybe I'll regret it someday, but dumping all those suit points into passive skills instead is working out just fine. I love killing expensive people with my free gear, but I am starting to wonder what I'm going to spend all this ISK on. (Time to go tank it up, I guess.)
Modules are all well and good, but my passive skill guy can take out advanced and prototype suits fairly often with almost no ISK investment. CCP can't be happy about how powerful you can get without spending money, but I wonder if they'll give the higher level suits back any shields and armor or just nerf the free stuff. (It sounds like some of the devs want to make everything depletable but the starter fits.)
Personally, I'm fine with the suits remaining the way they were in the last build, but with the current pricing scheme. |

I think i saw ccp comment that if hp is kept low, prices will be lowered. Prices were good before nerf, little high now. Also the passive damage will be lowered, since suit hp is lower.
I think the heavy adv/proto now needs either more slots or hp added for adv/proto. It gains fewer slots then other suits. Scout gains only one slot at adv, stamina boost at adv? Scout gains plenty of slots at proto, so nothing else needed at that level. Not familiar enough with adv assault and logi to comment on them, they have good slot layout at proto though.
I did passive skills first, just now unlocking adv weapons. Reset will probably happen before I have sp for proto suits. Last build my 30mil sp scout didn't make it to proto, tried many side things though. |

The money you spend on modules is the main extra cost. I'm pretty 50/50 about it. If there will be matches where your suits are limited to a certain tier (standard or lower, advanced or lower, Proto or lower) then I'd rather see the old stats come back. If not? They advanced and Proto need either damage resistance or more hp/shield. Not by much, but say 5% for both each lvl. Regen too :)

Using that logic there's never nerfs.
Personally I'm "meh" about it, I do like how I can use militia gear and compete with people in proto gear now instead of having to get really lucky or outnumber them. Proto suits a few builds ago got ridiculous, wearing a full proto suit basically promised you a 5.0+ KDR even if you weren't good at all. Now I can compete in my noobie gear ^.^
I too have been training mostly into passive skills, weaponry at the moment. Only at 1.3 mil though, need to play more.
On the other hand... that means tanks are going to be able to squish people in proto gear just as easy as everyone else, well, almost as easily anyway. Strange to see them gimp all the suits but leave tanks the same, then gimp AV equipment at the same time. Clearly not favoring the foot soldiers this build, but I'll still remain one of them xD

I'm glad someone in DUST understands the importance of core skills instead of racing to high-end gear. This is well-known in EVE. More skills are getting bonuses, too.
And yes, all but starter fits will cost money at some point.
BTW, more CPU/PG and slots is a pretty big improvement. It means you can fit more modules and better modules. |

The issue here though is that it's not really a "nerf" when infact all it is a rebalancing of the structure and gameplay. I like to think it's more of a amending, and rebalance then a "nerf", but I suppose it is subjective. Nonetheless this is a welcomed hotfix in my opinion. Making people spend more ISK is always better for the balancing of the game. If you have less ISK at any given time it makes you think and balance yourself. Should you stay where you are at, or afford the ISK on gear, or skill books? Anyway.. Ha-ha. |

No, militia should be equal to civilian gear, since neither require skills.
Standard is equivalent to tech 1. |

I actually agree. This way it atleast minimizes how much of an inherent advantage the vets and the isk rich have. Should make for better balancing. Although tbh, the suit price should come down slightly. Perhaps by 20%? Suit prices just don't seem proportionate right now. Perhaps a reduction of suit prices, but slight increase in module prices, since they will be playing more of a role anyway. |

the 5.0 KDR (greatly exaggerated) is why i like it everyone who plays has the opportunity to be good by playing a long long time or by being great at shooters. It also teaches teamwork first since u will die with lower health suits compared to proto if u dont travel in groups. idk why they ever changed it i see the whole game being ruined in one nerf thats why im praying they change it back this should not play like other shooters |

After further speculation I actually like the change somewhat, I think it's still weak sauce because vehicles are going to be able to easily kill people with expensive fits but w/e, hopefully more people group up and use teamwork.. been seeing a lot of it lately which is promising. More teamwork from randoms than I would expect.
I'm fine with the way they are now, from my experience in playing the last couple of hours (hardly got to play this build so far).
The opinions between us clearly are different though. I think that to be good at a shooter you have to learn from your mistakes, get better at aiming, predicting enemy movements, flanking, sticking with the team. Basically being and doing good should rely more on your own skill than the game holding your hand because you have enough SP to afford super suits. I'm really enjoying infantry engagements more than I ever did in the previous builds.
If that's your opinion then that's OK, I'm just letting the developers know which one I prefer. Giving feedback.
Because of prototype suits I feel a lot of the gunfights devolved into strafing contests, less about skill and tactics and more about moving your left analog stick in random movements and counteracting it with your right analog stick. Not very skill based or involving much strategy IMO. Now that people die faster more thought is put into things, at least for me and it seems to be paying off.
Loving the change now.
Note that that's just from infantry vs infantry point of view for now, I haven't had the chance to train into AV stuff yet. |
