I think ccp should add a weapon of this variety to the game for people interested in being a more tankish guy.
If possible even allow people to fire small arms from behind them at a cost of mobility and accuracy.
Now I know there will be people who are going to say this would be OP and such but this is why I made this topic, to get the opinion of the players, and to see what they might have to say to make a weapon like this balanced in this game.
Throw out your opinions and or ideas guys |

they so need to add dual weilding for appriprotate arms. a scrambler pistol would work with an amarrian tower shield.

Don't really see the point since you have hi tech force shields and things like shield extenders and armor plates. |

This thick plate would have its own shield generator and armor layer making it as tough as the user, cept it only works for the shield itself. |

Heavy's with riot shields... I could see that. Especially for those who can't kill anyone. Have the shield on the left arm, repair, revive, shoot with the other. |

It is essentially a weapon that block incoming fire in a certain direction but leaves you vulnerable in certain areas when using it, makes you a great distraction to. |

Shields are a joke in every game that has implemented them, all the way back to counter-strike 1.6
If you want to be "tankish" then use heavy. What I think you want here is a way to absorb infinite damage and be a major annoyance to enemies, and to some extent teammates when you have no damage output potential.
It would be a serious mistake to put a shield in this game. Heavy armor and a logi friend are all you need. |

I say amarrian would have the best coverage but worst vision and return firing.
Minmatar would have the smallest shield but best visual and return ifre.
Gallente has best return fire and medicore coverage.
Caldari have best vision medciore coverage and okay return fire.
Heavy weapon only. Stops bullets long as tis own shields is up any bullets that penetrate after its shileds are brought down do half damage to user if it hits. |

My response to this is that ccp needs to make it a balanced weapon, make it destroyable or something. |

Possibly disable aiming down sights and reduce accuracy, aswell as a longer reload time. |

Not a fan of the idea of a shield but if they did want a shield in the game I'd suggest a heavy equipment or shield slot only on heavies and only for shields. You equip it and can walk with it but not shoot. So you are just a damage absorber for a team taking a room or whatever but you can also deploy the shield, by sticking it in the ground for people to hide behind. I'd make them destructible so people don't block doorways or make spots impossible to get to. |

Heavies already have enough armor
I'd rather have it while running around in the logi suit
like a logistics shield, takes a light slot and allows use of equipment in the other hand |

How about it takes the heavy weapon slot, has its own shields and armor, and reduced movement speed. When it's armor is depleted, you start taking damage through it, but it isn't destroyed, and can regen shields. Possibility of firing your sidearm with greatly reduced accuracy.
I suppose it might work, but I'm not too sure its a good idea. |

I think the idea of a giant shield has potential but not as a storm shield like swat teams use. Now some sort of equipment shield emitter that u can drop on the ground like an uplink or hive might be a cool idea. It wouldn't work while ur holding it but u drop it on the ground and a couple seconds later ba'zing u got a tactical sheild barrier (thts a nice name too and I could get used to calling them tsbs) and of course u would be able to shoot through them but enemies couldnt and maybe the HP of a heavy suit but strictly sheilds no armor. Thoughts? |

Wouldn't mind a more powerful melee weapon.. Level up your Knife Handling skill. Gives a 50% damage increase.
Stack stimulants on top of that, and you can tear people apart when you're in close (assuming the game lets you hit them - which is a lot easier than the last build). |

I'd like to see a deployable shield generator. maybe a logi item and its armor would always be decreasing so a logi would have to stay behind and and maintain it. |
