It's not a real problem. Just players degenerationg back to old, and bad habits. However the majority of us in some way knew to expect price hikes, and increaes to even our most basic builds. It was expected. Why people are now crying over it is beyond me. Granted I understand that some builds alone cost millions of ISK per life, or drop-in. This all a good thing though. Players can play as they want, but the game is not meant for players to camp the whole game for some fear of ISK costs. It's on the player to compensate that increase.
CCP wanted Dusters to have a real sense of -- "Risk & Reward" -- which are finally starting to see the outer layers of only now. Price hikes are only the first step. Soon the amount of ISK and SP (Skill Points) are going to deflate from their four hundred percent above normal state. If people are cying over this now, and only going to degenerate this bad I feel the point of Dust514 may have been lost before it was even realized, and finished. Which is a very sad state of affairs to be sure.
Anyway there are other problems abound out there at the moment. Players not grasping the reality or gravity of Dust514 and taking to bad habits out of fear or for other varying reasons is absurd, but understandable. I suppose. |

My experience so far has been absolutely terrible, mostly because of the god awful "instant battle" setup. Getting thrown into games that are over (or almost over) is bad enough, but not being able to choose between ambush and skirmish is a non-starter for me. I'd rather just not play Dust than have to slog through matches of Ambush. Secondly, I didn't get put into a single match at the beginning, I was just thrown in either at the very end, or randomly in the middle. Unfortunately, I was getting the "invalid fitting" glitch and had to keep restarting the game.
It wasn't until I had been attempting to play for over 30 minutes that I actually finally got INTO a battle and actually got to see the battlefield... which consisted of a bunch of dudes randomly running around in classic Derp Match style (SNORE) on a giant barren wasteland of a map. I then unloaded a few clips on a guy paying zero attention to me, watched as the hit detection failed to register ANY of it, quit the game, and vowed not to bother playing again until the 21st. |

Really hate this new build. The merc quarters are nice but I've honestly been losing and dying way more than I was last build. It's insane. I'm always on the losing team probably because my teammates aren't using mics and that they're trying to get a grip on the new build.
Hit detection seems a bit off for me (but not for the enemy!)
Remote explosives? Completely ditched them in favor of the AV grenades (which actually does damage now! The homing is nice too.. but they will only explode when near a vehicle)
Dropsuits? Yeah before I know it I'm down to less than 10 sets halfway into the match. Don't know if it's a glitch (it isn't) or maybe it's because of the fact that I'm dying more than actually playing.
I seem to be the Lone Wolf on my team. I don't mean that in a good way. Whenever I spawn I'm on my own and I'm usually facing about 2 or 3 guys by myself and/or they're far away (which means they get the territorial advantage by keeping their ground / hiding behind cover and waiting for me to reach them - they have all the time in the world). Fact: I have to run to shoot people while the'yre already looking at me from an area that's dominated by many of them. Takes less than about 2 seconds to kill me (I fire off about 2 or 3 bullets from my AR that MIGHT hit them). Oh and they move in groups. Sounds like a great team, sad that I'll never be a part of it.
Sniping is nice, although I prefer doing it on Skirmish but that option is completely out the window with the new "Instant Battle" option (Who knows what I'll get?!) AND I have to wait about. Just saying about 5 minutes or more just to join a match that was already started. I got lucky and got in there early while everyone was waiting in the lobby (I was talking to them, I know I know! I was lucky enough to talk to someone!) and hacked all the bases so that we won easily. Although it's not really a fair win, things did even out when more players joined (i.e. I got crushed easily). Oh and I have to wait around a minute to actually see the end match results.....
and YES, it IS possible to earn less than 2, 000 skillpoints in a match. I guess I should get an award or something
Oh and the dropships act like helicopters now. Like actual Battlefield 3 helicopters.... I enjoyed piloting the Dropships too (because they were so easy)... oh well can't use them anymore.
Not sure what to say now that it went from a relaxing tactical game to almost a COD style experience. I didn't like the 10 second spawn, but hell I'd love it back so we can get a breather in between deaths.
Oh and I hardly see the waiting around in the space station lobby thing before a match. Oh right.. I think the "wait 10 minutes for a match to start looking at the player list" replaced that somewhat..
just my 2 cents. I've had it since the E3 build (or the first week it was up for grabs on PS Home). I guess I'm just mad because I was so used to playing the build before this and everything's different now. |

Well I would consider that more of this build is different then not. So you could very well say it's entirely different. Even the servers themselves are different as confirmed by, Wolfman, in one of my threads on the subject. I think build has a lot of potential and the only problem at the moment is that it's incomplete. Not because, it's a [beta], but because it is only a third of the full update. However that does not excuse all of the problems building and still currently hindering Dust514. Especially some of the most basic of game physics, and algorithims which make up the games backround and functioning laws. Which seem broken and/or malfunctioning.
I have hope they'll fix it, but if by the third update to this build and we do not see some more progress on the games governing laws I am unsure of the fate of Dust514 and it making upon release. |

I have been enjoying what seems to be a more variety of maps. Unsure of the instant battle system as last night it put me and grit and one team vs a solo guy on another team. It added 2 more guys to his team towards the end but the map we got put on was huge. Had some problems the whole squad getting into a game, remaking the squad seems to usually fix that. |

You know what I find funny -- if not a tad sad -- that has gone unmentioned, and unspoken? Accumalative skill point acquisition. Meaning CCP in the tuesday update did infact turn (back) on automatic stationary skilling. Where one automatically acquires skill points whether logged onto the game or not. This was always brought up whether it would return or not, and when it would. I feel this is something overlooked. At the moment I believe the current ratio is one skill point every four seconds. Infact you can watch it climb in-game while you are in your skill sheet above in the UI (User Interface).
Just thought among all of the negativity that someone should mention a positive. Which this is. Let the math begin.
Twenty four hours in a day with sixty minutes in an hour, and sixty seconds in a minute. That would mean if I am correct in assuming it's one skill point every four seconds; that a player would obtain fifteen skill point a minute for a total of nine hundred skill points an hour. Grossing in mass total for the day (even while not playing) twenty-one thousand and six hundred skill points a day. Just for having a character on Dust514. Assuming I am correct that it is one skill point for every four seconds though. That is not bad at all.
I wonder how this will be affected though when CCP deflates the skill point acquisition from four hundred percent above normal back to it's base line? Will CCP have a new ratio for accumalative skill pointing? Will it stay at what it is now? Amazing to think about, no? |

I didn't even notice that. I just got on to try but seems as though the servers are down. |

Well they've certainly succeeded in creating the sense of risk. I'm now anxiously awaiting the reward side of the equation. |

For the record it was working in the last build but the UI FOR it was bugged and non functional. Also they have reduced SP gains as far as I have been able to tell but I kept running into bugs that made playing difficult let alone actually testing something. Lets hope the hotfixes knock some of those the **** out. |

no but i saw one it barely missed me and wiped out someone else and was like HELL YEA!!! also there are 32 players now.. that makes big notcible effect, it looks like a battle even more now.
and no they did something when i played last night the hit detection was almost spot on. i think i can actaully quit drinking now and just play the beta and the new graphics are great you dont feel like your playing PS2 anymore.
yea my dropship was taken out by a single swarm launcher and my shield is like 3900 but I was having so much fun as a soldier I forgot to learn 2 fly which I have to do now that you can do a barrel roll.. the way I flew last build I didnt zoom around much unless we were taking SL or FL I would just slowly lumber around allowing my gunners to rack up kills like they were firing from a stationary platform but we're hoping that the pilot suits give us some kind of special way to fly the ship better and only someone with a pilot suit can actually fly the ship worth a dam but we'll have to wait and see.
the network stability is still terrible but at least i could play 2 out of 3 games instead of 0 like I was having the first night inciting me to go crazy on the forums in an all out troll thread where i was accused of being a fanboy i let loose a psycho troll fueld by way too much liquor but everyone was furstrated in their own way because we're passionately wanting to play so the forum that night was a lot of chaos of pro-CCP/anit-CCP reflecting our furstrations at not being able to play but they seem to be improving this aspect.. we're now getting a taste of this wut game can really become |

Haven't tried it myself yet but that's what multiple people have said. I hope that doing pilot skills makes the dropships like before or something. |

I have heard the same informatoin from word of mouth in-game as well regarding the orbital strikes, but I have not called one in myself. I am too busy in-game taking objectives to be worried. I can see orbital strikes if regulated properly to breach choke points, or take down larger HAV (Heavy Attack Vehicle) which are charging the front lines. However while I enjoy the fact that you need war points to call them in; I believe it should also cost the user or team ISK off of their contract(s). With an added cool down period of course as well. This will help to ensure that when used they make an impact, but also are not abused.
As for the accumalative skill points last build. I do not believe it was functioning properly as many people brought it up and stated that it infact was "not" working during that build. Either way it is back, and working well. So no harm; no foul. At any rate though -- I am still interested in seeing how CCP takes to this after they decrease the acquisistion rate of skill points and ISK alike. Should be interesting. |
