CCP has a history of not simply forcing things on you as a developer, meaning everything they build has a reason behind it and isnt some magical sci fi thing. Everything is reasonable and makes sense in the grand scheme of things. Thats why the lore is so extensive and awesome.
Forge guns are ridiculously powerful, nearly uncontrollable weapons that shouldn't realistically be able to be wielded by humans. It is only with great effort and mechanical genius that they were able to fit one on a heavy suit, which was able to actually withstand the gun without killing the user.
Scouts/assaults/logis simply cannot use a forge gun. If you must have an AV option as a light suit, use a swarm launcher. So CCP puts lore ahead of gameplay and fun? I highly doubt that, otherwise they wouldn't be making games successfully for so long. They have made one game and yes it is successful.
However a scout is very small and weak the forge is a handheld railgun that fires a 3 inch slug at speeds over 7000 meters per second. That is a lot of force that has to somewhere, into the dropsuit using it bare minimum it would knock the scout on its @ss.
We do need more options for anti vehicle warfare but the forge on a scout suit is just silly.
Also in real life the only fast moving anti tank weapon is another tank or one mounted on a hmmwv( humvee). AT4 is kinda heavy and very awkward to run around with as is a javelin or other missile/rocket launcher. Using them automatically requires you sacrifice some mobility due to weight. |

Arramakaian Eka wrote:Much better gunplay now, didn't see any serious issues with hit detection, although I think auto-aim is still too aggressive (easy-mode). Got several kills with a scrambler gun, and finally had some success and tank kills with a forge gun. There needs to be a way to outfit a light with a forge gun... It's pretty idiotic that an anti-tank dropsuit is forced to be a heavy - it's not like we can rely on damage mitigation against tanks for survival. Once the game got stuck and wouldn't allow me to open up the menu (start button), had to restart the game for it to work. The dark cloud wrote:And was it really needed to implement that a forgegunner is not allowed to move while charging up? We could allready only move extreme slow with that thing. I can move around with my non-proto forge gun while charging - perhaps it's the gun you're using, so it's a feature? In point of fact you did say forge gun and scout right here.
Other options are fine think of some and put it in the feedback section by all means. |

Note I have not yet had time to log on and see the changes for myself, so perhaps you are right and we don't need anymore. Although when they introduce new vehicle types that may change. |

Although when they introduce new vehicle types that may change. They've nerfed marauders pretty bad. Took away their 1.5x damage and raised the price to 1.2 million. They also lowered their CPU/PG. I roll in a Soma and do better financially and KDR wise. Wow they have been swinging that nerf bat pretty hard haven't they. All we needed was more.options and the marauders would have been no problem anyway. I mean webs and seeking AV grenades with a forge or swarm support would have done the trick.
I am very disappointed by this. |

Rorek IronBlood wrote:You know what I find funny -- if not a tad sad -- that has gone unmentioned, and unspoken? Accumalative skill point acquisition. Meaning CCP in the tuesday update did infact turn (back) on automatic stationary skilling. Where one automatically acquires skill points whether logged onto the game or not. This was always brought up whether it would return or not, and when it would. I feel this is something overlooked. At the moment I believe the current ratio is one skill point every four seconds. Infact you can watch it climb in-game while you are in your skill sheet above in the UI (User Interface).
Just thought among all of the negativity that someone should mention a positive. Which this is. Let the math begin.
Twenty four hours in a day with sixty minutes in an hour, and sixty seconds in a minute. That would mean if I am correct in assuming it's one skill point every four seconds; that a player would obtain fifteen skill point a minute for a total of nine hundred skill points an hour. Grossing in mass total for the day (even while not playing) twenty-one thousand and six hundred skill points a day. Just for having a character on Dust514. Assuming I am correct that it is one skill point for every four seconds though. That is not bad at all.
I wonder how this will be affected though when CCP deflates the skill point acquisition from four hundred percent above normal back to it's base line? Will CCP have a new ratio for accumalative skill pointing? Will it stay at what it is now? Amazing to think about, no? For the record it was working in the last build but the UI FOR it was bugged and non functional. Also they have reduced SP gains as far as I have been able to tell but I kept running into bugs that made playing difficult let alone actually testing something. Lets hope the hotfixes knock some of those the **** out. |
