Just wondering.
Is this still happening ? I just bought one yesterday. I'm not sure if it's my connection or what but I did get a few lag spikes more often but nothing game breaking .... yet. |

Lots of sporadic lag and the inputs mapped to those specific buttons seems be constantly cutting out. So if I'm moving or charging a forge gun the gun will never fully charge or my movement is extremely "choppy" (to the point of not really moving at all). I went as far as narrowing the problem down to Dust but didn't think to try turning it off the headset or modify the sound settings. Something to try next log in. yes, please try to just leave those headsets off and let us know how the game is for you. my main issues when using this headset are very similar to yours. walking is choppy or sometimes i call it stutter stepping. then i cannot hack, it constantly resets. i cannot aim down sights, constantly going in and out of "scope" mode. i cannot sprint, it constantly stops me and i'm constantly having to click L3 to start sprint again. overall, just everything is choppy/stuttery/resetty(sp?)
I can confirm this. With the headset on, it cause lag, off, it does not. Wires shark the packets and you'll see why. I have a nudge that it has something to do with the surround sound, as I just turned it off and it's working far better...
eDIT: my ps3 is wired via Ethernet, my controller plugged in via charge cable..the moment surround is turned off, it works better. For the longest time I thought it was my net connection, but after extensive testing, I found it to be on the ps3 side. Now I know the ps3 headset dongle can interface with all the different protocols that's proprietary to Sony, which also means that the devs can look into this further as they have the dev consoles Sony issues to developers for either a fee or whatever deal they have. It could be dust514 , Sony, or even the players... What would be nice is if this was looked into on an official capacity. |

I use a turtle beach PX5 with bluetooth for voice comms and fiber optic for regular audio, it works awesome on all my PS3 games, with the exception that sometimes people say i come through a little fuzzy or broken on dust. |

Mine causes similar problems.
At this stage is keeping me from taking the game serious, if cannot be played with a Sony headset.
Seems original post in this thread coincides with changes CCP reportedly did to controller-handling (no longer needing to choose between DS3 and mouse+keyboard), which leads me to believe it is related to a generic problem with event-handling in Dust514 when any USB device is plugged in. |

Had the same issue since yesterday! God i thought my PS3 is screwed or my LCD! Im also using the PS3 Headset with virtual surround! Same issues with the screen flickering.. I would try to see how it runs with unplugging the bluetooth headset and dongle and play but unfortunately sony is doing a maintenance on the psnetwork over here.. What an annoyance! |

any more information from you guys will help. i still do not use my Sony Stereo Headset with Virtual Surround Sound. and you can see how long this thread has been open. Devs state they're working on this but they're not. the headset still causes unplayable lag. try to hack, i bet you can't. try to sprint, i bet you can't (unless you keep pressing the sprint button), try to ADS, i bet you can't (it'll flicker in and out).
i'm going to report this so we can get a Dev in here again and see what they have to update us with. |

i'm going to report this so we can get a Dev in here again and see what they have to update us with. Good luck - the issues have been known for half a year, and no hints that it is being actively pursued by CCP.
This issue has now officially gone from being a Bug to being a Feature.

*Bump* Confirmed still an issue after reinstalling Dust514
Really hope no-ones buys this one any time soon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-PlayStation-Wireless-Headset-Voucher/dp/B009VUPAEQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1361106791&sr=8-2 |

Yeah still an issue.
For me the issue seems to be some kind of interference between the DS3 controller and the headset. If i use both wirelessly i get stutters when trying to run or hacking breaks up all the time... if i plug the DS3 in via USB cable i have no issues...
Nowadays i play with KB/M and have a 4 Port USB Hub in which i connect the DS3 while i play.
There's a somewhat "fix" for the issue... you need to resync (sticking a pin in holes on all the devices) the DS3 and the Headset. But that one just helps for a short while. |

I also experience these problems but do not have the headset use do. I have the official bluetooth that I got years ago when it first released. I also have experienced just about every single one of these issues both with it on and off. It is why I don't use the Forge Gun anymore as it will not charge once these issues start, and usually won't be fixed until the reset each morning. |

ongoing tests:
- The "Lag" appears to be controls resetting
- The issue appears to be RF interference or input-"noise"
- Other things can cause the same issue, plausible same Root Cause
@1: Controls Resetting When the issue comes up, what is experienced is that all actions are cancelled
- Running is stopped
- Aiming stops
- Firing stops
- ... stops
This even when it happens for just a few miliseconds From this, my observation is that it relates to a bad input-handler. Normally, the input handler would look for 2 events:
- Button depressed
- Button released
In the case of Dust, it appears that it expects a continuous stream of "Button still depressed" events, to consider the action as continuing. When the headset and other RF interference occurs, that stream of events is interupted, and Dust returns to a default position.
In other games, I've finally managed to reproduce related effects:
- Borderlands 2 will continue the action despite interference (much better!), but may on rare occassions continue the activity for a few miliseconds too long (over-steering)
- Need For Speed uses the "continued stream of events" and speed may occassionally "sputter"
Overall, the issue is a LOT less significant in other games, even with the virtual surround turned on (more data = more interference)
@2: RF interference It would appear that part of the issue can be RF interference between the Sony Playstation SixAxis/DualShock and the Sony Playstation Stereo Headset - but in that case, also with other sources of 2.4GHz equipment. I am seated 5-6 meters from my PS3, with line-of-sight except for a plywood panel - at this range, the two devices CERTAINLY should not experience interference, but it does appear to happen.
Will be buying a long USB cable to test this, using the SixAxis via USB and the headset wirelessly. Should be able to get some kind of results. If anyone has equipment for testing RF Interference, or generating noise in the public 2.4GHz, feel free to test within confines of local law.
@3: Non-Headset interference It has been reported in other threads that having equipment attached to USB may cause "lag" or control-resets (as above). A standing recommendation is to unlpug everything from USB when playing Dust. This leads me to speculate that it may also be a different issue with the Dust input-handler: Resetting activities on unknown events. Normally an input-handler would have a dummy default "catch-all" function, where unknown/irrellevant events are basically ignored. Given that having equipment attached to USB causes issues (e.g. controllers in a charger), this is also a likely scenario. |
