Title says it all. Has been a problem since the servers came up yesterday.
UPDATE: Turns out it is specifically the "virtual surround" option that causes the problem. Turning the virtual surround off on the headset resolves the issue. |

i've completely stopped using my headset for this reason. it has been this way for me since a few builds. i will try your resolution to see if it helps me
edit: changing from surround to stereo did not resolve my issue. i still could not sprint. i was able to aim down sights though, didn't get to test hacking with it.
edit: resetting headset is a possible fix, i did a lil test and it seems to be helping. i'm not experiencing severe lag as i was before when using this headset. with the USB dongle in and lit up blue, turn your headset on as well. find a small pin, poke the reset button on the Dongle first and then the headset, then just hit the mute button once and the headset is reset. this seems to have resolved my lag issue with it. i am able to run now. hacking seems a bit iffy as so far i've only hacked things with others around to help so i dont know if my hack was working or not. i did have one lil issue though, on one spawn i tried to shoot at someone using ADS and it continued to flicker in and out of scope as it did before. but after i died it didn't do it again.... |

My Official PS3 headset kept screwing up, turning off randomly, or jsut stop working. In addition the game became much more crash prone when using it.
After I changed to my USB headset, things have gotten far better. |

My official Sony headset works just fine, no lag etc from it. the old Official Sony Bluetooth Earpiece one gave me issues, but no lag, just constantly transmitting. |

i do not notice as much of issues with my official sony bluetooth headset but my 7.1 headset, either surround sound on or off causes extreme lag for me. unable to sprint, barely able to walk, unable to hack, unable to aim down sights.. |

Is the 7.1 headset actually worth it? If I were to buy it here, it would cost me almost $200. That's almost insane. |

That's almost insane. i love the headset, Sony just updated the PS3 firmware to allow the headset to use virtual surround for movies now and not just games. Sony is coming out with a newer model, i believe state-side the current one is $100 where the new one will be $150 i do believe. its a nice headset but dust is unplayable with them, the headsets can also be used for PC but the virtual surround i'm not sure works on PC. |

I'm using the Official Sony headset with the Virtual Surround turned on. Most of my issues pertain to the Left Stick and R1. Lots of sporadic lag and the inputs mapped to those specific buttons seems be constantly cutting out. So if I'm moving or charging a forge gun the gun will never fully charge or my movement is extremely "choppy" (to the point of not really moving at all). I went as far as narrowing the problem down to Dust but didn't think to try turning it off the headset or modify the sound settings. Something to try next log in. |

I use these and I don't see this issue.
I mean, I have lag issue, of course, but I never really experienced anything like is described unless I play my own Music from the XMB - and that only started happening since this last build. |

I don't have any lag issues whatsoever when I use the official 7.1 headset, it sounds great and the surround effect works flawlessly. The issue I DO have with the 7.1 headset is that my mic rarely works with it. If I turn the headset on BEFORE loading Dust it will work, for a while. Then after an hour or two the mic stops working completely. I can still hear other people, but they can't hear me. Restarting Dust at this point, DOES NOT fix the problem, restarting the PS3 usually does. Here's the interesting part, if the mic on the 7.1 doesn't work, I can turn it off, unplug the USB attachment for it, and then turn on my old official sony bluetooth, and that works fine. The bluetooth works great, never gives me any issues. |

hiya frame,
what i have noticed is the HDD is highly active when lag kicks in. can be mid game to, everything working a dream then bam. char starts playing up at first its the L3 run button, you start to notice a very jerky run style. and/or no action at all.
entering a match from start you really notice the lag come, its instant. try to walk your char stutters, try to run char stutters. right stick and left stick become useless, the sticks become delayed. ( like playing eve @ 3FPS with all brackets on) i tend to stick with the problem right to the end of match. when back in the merc quarters the lag backs of very little, the HDD is a solid block.
market fails to load, but join battle works fine. delays in up and down movement in market cursor.
reboot fails to solve problem on the ps3 end i can play a US server and it will be a joy, but play a UK server its a dogs dinner (im in uk ) this happens either way, sometime uk playing up sometimes us playing up.
either way when it happens the ps3 is hard on the HDD reading/writing (solid light ) when server is playing well, HHD flashes here and there but no solid constant HDD light.
any chance in beta update of a diagnostic tool / crash log tool we can use on the PS3 to gather data for you guys ? something like we can select if it starts lagging maybe run a crash log send to you guys then reboot the ps3. |

These are exactly the issues I've noticed, usually not too bad, but seemed to be worse this past weekend.

i too use the sony bluetooth headset and have the least issues with it. but it too will not transmit voice or i wont hear anyone on voice, i know i should be hearing people because i'll play with a friend who has mic and even sometimes in the same room and we'll hear different voices on comms.
to add a few more details, in another post (or maybe this one?) someone suggested disabling the surround sound and dropping it down to stereo sound. that did not resolve my issue. it did seem to be a bit better as far as i could aim down sights without a constant in and out flicker. but that was the only thing that seemed to be improved as i still could not sprint and did not test hacking as i turned the headset off, it feels like i'm being nerf'd lol
i've tried turning the 7.1 on before starting the dust client and even mid game and on each try i still get this issue. the only remedy is to immediately turn them off and i'm fine.
i have completely deleted all dust data off my ps3, performed ps3 safe mode, redownloaded and still have this issue. i have the newer 160GB slim bought about 1 yr ago. i am wired ethernet and my ps3 is static ip in the dmz so there should not be a port issue, upnp is enabled and i've got nat type 2.

Yes, this all describes the problems I was having pretty much exactly. When I shut off the "virtual surround" and just use regular 2.0 audio all of those issues completely disappeared. So don't just try turning the headset off, also try turning off the virtual surround. |

I have Sony Official 7.1 wireless headset
Sounds are ok but my mic is muted all the time :/
and what different from other games.. when you mute your own mic from headset its mic light is Blue when it should turn to Red and when its "on" its red.. so viceverca.. ( mute symbol turns on/off in tv screen normally ).
I have done all needed port forwardig for voice etc and still no difference. No lag issues with headset.
any ideas or anyone with same problem? |

I am also having problems with the headset with my new playstation. I resently traded in my old system, like Gen 1 or 2 i bought it one year after playstation 3 came out so i had the big fat shiny kind. The headset worked fantastic for that older system it would show in game when the mic was on and when i hit mute it would show onscreen. When i bought the newest system that mic will take for ever to connect when the game starts and i get no notifications about mute and the stuff. So maby it has something to do with the hardware? |

EDIT - UPDATE. 7/26/12. Spent the night playing with surround sound turned off. Turned off only via headset, did not change any PS3 settings. Things seemed smoother, no choppines at all. Scope zoom worked reliably. Sprint worked reliably. |
