The headset worked fantastic for that older system it would show in game when the mic was on and when i hit mute it would show onscreen. When i bought the newest system that mic will take for ever to connect when the game starts and i get no notifications about mute and the stuff. So maby it has something to do with the hardware?
Headset/mic works nicely with Kz3 and MW3.. so cant be hardware?
and heres some fast googled picture of headset so we are speaking of same item :) http://www.google.fi/imgres?q=sony+wireless+headset+7.1&hl=fi&sa=X&biw=1920&bih=985&tbm=isch&prmd=imvns&tbnid=RaaMMU-QHE6bSM:&imgrefurl=http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/10/sony-ps3-wireless-stereo-headset-review/&docid=qOmTLIYw_yhD3M&imgurl=http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/09/dsc0420-1317031988.jpg&w=600&h=399&ei=2vUQUK_OC4eA4gTR3YGYDg&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=550&vpy=320&dur=4942&hovh=183&hovw=275&tx=143&ty=86&sig=104167388633351817673&page=1&tbnh=145&tbnw=218&start=0&ndsp=45&ved=1t:429,r:11,s:0,i:104 |

This is the one I have: http://www.plunderguide.com/sony-ps3-bluetooth-headset/
It caused instability, though not really that much lag that I noticed, It has caused some frame rate stutter a few times.
After switching to a USB headset, I'm fine, but that is hardly how it should be. |

Lots of sporadic lag and the inputs mapped to those specific buttons seems be constantly cutting out. So if I'm moving or charging a forge gun the gun will never fully charge or my movement is extremely "choppy" (to the point of not really moving at all). I went as far as narrowing the problem down to Dust but didn't think to try turning it off the headset or modify the sound settings. Something to try next log in. yes, please try to just leave those headsets off and let us know how the game is for you. my main issues when using this headset are very similar to yours. walking is choppy or sometimes i call it stutter stepping. then i cannot hack, it constantly resets. i cannot aim down sights, constantly going in and out of "scope" mode. i cannot sprint, it constantly stops me and i'm constantly having to click L3 to start sprint again. overall, just everything is choppy/stuttery/resetty(sp?) These are exactly the issues I've noticed, usually not too bad, but seemed to be worse this past weekend. Will test with headset offf and report back. EDIT - UPDATE. 7/26/12. Spent the night playing with surround sound turned off. Turned off only via headset, did not change any PS3 settings. Things seemed smoother, no choppines at all. Scope zoom worked reliably. Sprint worked reliably.
I spent Tues night playing (2+ hours) and could not replicate any of my original problems. (VC on/ Mic muted)

I bought my Sony headset back in Nov. '11 and have had no problems with the virtual 7.1 or using my mic (alhtough most of the time I have the mic muted, except when I need to talk).

I am using the Sony 7.1 headset with a Gen 2 (? the last version of the "fat" PS3 ?) PS3. The Sony headset was purchased October 2011. A few stuttering and sighting problems in game a few weeks ago, most frequently when using a sniper rifle (maybe holding zoom too long?). I am using the virtual surround sound on the Sony headset. I also tried with a USB headset and no headset this weekend.
With no headset and with the USB headset, I had very few hiccups. With the Sony headset, this weekend had the fewest glitches. Maybe a little more than non-bluetooth, but not as frustrating as previous weekends. During the "ISK 1M giveaway" two hour event on 28 July, I used the Sony headset and noticed very few glitches - no more than with the USB headsets at night. |

this sucks... why does this only happen with some people's official stereo headset and not others? mine used to work without issue. now anytime i turn it on i start having issues. ugh. i was really hoping everyone with this mic had this issue so it would be easier to resolve. idk what to do. i've yet to try anything to make it work though. |

I have a turtle beach (USB) headset and I'm not getting lag, but, I can not transmit communications (I can hear everyone just fine). This is the only game I'm having the communication problem too. I may try my old bluetooth just to see if it works this upcoming weekend (and a couple of other ideas).

No problems, except that I notice that if the headset isn't on before I launch Dust, it doesn't seem to work.
Quick question I didn't see for those who ARE having lag problems with the headset:
Is your PS3 using a Wired or Wireless internet connection?
(the Sony 7.1 headset uses radio frequencies to connect to between the headset and the USB dongle, so that might be thrashing wireless signals while its running) |

I am also using the Sony 7.1 I'm not experiencing the lag and can hear sounds and voice comms great. I am not however, able to talk. I've tried turning the surround on/off and the mic mute on/off without any changes. I've tried turning the Headset Extension on/off in the PS3 settings as well as monkeying around with the audio settings. I have noticed that it will not let me change the setting away from "3" in the accessory menu. The echo cancelation is also working in the PS3 screen but again.. my comrades cannot hear me in game. |

I have that same. In war room you can see in team/squad chat that you have "speak bubble" --> headset with mic. When others speak you can see that green color in their bubble but your own keeps blank/muted.
Annoying when people speak to you ( see that you have coms) but you are unable to reply :/ |

I only have lag when I am using wireless, you can also see the issue of the wireless devices interfering when doing just about anything on Dust. I think the newest updates to the sony headset have actually made things worse but it's hard to tell. |

Mine is wireless, but this is the only game that I play that has this issue. If it was the wireless signal interfering it would be a problem on every game, not just Dust. |

Ran into the stuttering issues (sprinting, hacking, charged shooting, scope zoom, etc) again last night. Everyone on Coms also seemed to be complaining about the lag.
Muting/ Unmuting the mic didn't help, turning the virtual surround on/off didn't help. Completely turning off the head set was the only thing that fixed the stuttering problem but I still experienced a high rate of what I would consider normal lag/ glitch behavior.
I'm on wireless network as well but suffer no issues outside of Dust. |

even after Precursor, whenever i use my 7.1 headset it causes a constant stutter type lag. i still cannot Aim Down Sights, it overall makes the game still as choppy laggy as it was before this patch. |

I bought the Official Sony Wireless Stereo Headset about 6 months ago and I also experienced lag while playing Battlefield 3. When I turned the headset off, the lag went away. When I turned them back on the lag returned. There were some games though where I had no lag at all while using the headset.
In Dust, I don't notice much lag. The problem I had though was I couldn't hear the guys on my squad at all when I used the headset. They typed in chat and told me they could hear my mic but I could not hear them even though all the other game sounds worked. When I turned the headset off, I could then hear my squadmates speaking through the TV speakers. I had voice volume in the game settings turned all the way up. I set Push to Talk to OFF before this as well.
So far, I've only had issues with the headset when playing multiplayer games with voice coms. On single player games there's no problem and it also works perfectly on my PC. It's pretty disappointing all around though because the whole reason I bought it was for multiplayer voice coms. Had I known this is how it would perform I would never have bought them. |

i have the blue tooth earpiece and all it does is continually transmit sound even when nothing is making any noise around or near it.
the only way it stops transmitting for me is if i press the mute button which means im essentially doing the push to talk. |
