Wait a minute... didn't I already make you look silly at the beginning of this thread? ... yup. lol And you're one of those that tries really hard to troll? Lol, don't worry you'll get the hang of it. You called me a tryhard and the whole past two pages of this thread is you posting near biblical sized paragraphs upon paragraphs, debating people on something so lame as console viability, you're a fruitloop
Your a fruit loop!

Talos Vagheitan wrote:Well, we really don't know the required specs yet. No I'm not optimally set up to play an FPS on PC currently. I'm also not demanding anything, I just don't think the benefits of consoles should be overlooked entirely. We don't know the exact specs, but multiple former CPM2 folks have confirmed CCP Rattati's goal is to have this game run on a mid-to-low end PC at a stable 60 FPS. I'm paraphrasing a bit. Look at EVE Online and how CCP optimizes the ever living **** out of their games; you can run EVE on a busted microwave
Talos Vagheitan wrote:WoW can't compare to this game. The Dust-EVE universe is unique, and I think would benefit tremendously to the maximum number of players. That's why matchmaking never worked for us. Having higher numbers of players would help with matchmaking, but there are diminishing returns on that. Really, more than max players, matchmaking benefits from having many skill levels of players. That can be accomplished with the populations we see on PC servers.
Talos Vagheitan wrote:Also, regarding a game with a near infinite development scope Okay that's being very generous but go on... Talos Vagheitan wrote:you actually could make the case that the more players (revenue) then the better game in the long run.
One of Dust's biggest thorns was a tiny, isolated community that stomped out any hope of gaining new players. More players =/= more revenue necessarily. It just means more opportunities for CCP to turn F2Pers into paying customers; if the game itself is shoddy the population it supports isn't going to make a difference. The game's overall quality might suffer if, oh I don't know, the developers are having to split their efforts between two platforms.
My advice to you, playa.

Imo, It is real that the amount of players on PC is quite big, but it's definitely not bigger than console population, at least for now. If the trend is ever going to be different, that would be up for debate, but talking about todays situation, the PC community, even if exponentially growing, is still not "big" enough to match the dedicated gaming community on console.
I'll try to explain: if you look at raw numbers (I'm looking at them here http://steamcharts.com) Steam is the Heaven on Earth because it has millions of players everyday. But then if you take a look at what actually they play, you'd be surprised by a couple of things:
- A huge portion of total players play Dota 2. - Another incredibly huge part of them play CS:GO. - Steam charts are like a bit "on steroids": Everyday roughly 12 millions "players" turn on their PC but only 3 millions of them play any game. This is clear for whoever has steam installed: as soon as you turn on your PC, you're automatically connected to Steam, but you don't necessarly play any game. You do all kind of things on a PC, while we know for sure that anyone who buys a console can basically do nothing more than playing games.
Comparing always raw numbers, Call of Duty Black Ops III on PS4 sold 14.15m copies. These numbers are not on steroids, we can safely assume that 14 m people have been playing Cod on Playstation 4 at least once. We don't have official player count stats on console, but a glitch used to show how many people were online on ps4 and it ranged from 247k to 800k on weekdays...one can only imagine what happens on week-end. In a few words, there were many more people playing black ops III on ps4 than the peak players ever recorded on CS:GO.
Just a few things thrown into the mix that should be taken into heavy consideration imo.

Well I say leave the consoles behind. Compatibility only drags down pc games.
So, yeah, leave the consoles behind, just like the rest of the industry is doing.
Pretty soon you console boys will be following the pc model anyway. |
