If the Oculus launch had not gotten so botched I would be able to run it right now but I decided to hold off and wait for all the new graphics cards coming out since getting an Oculus any time soon seems to be off the table. |

Graphics wise it doesnt look impressive at all. Animations look stiff and rough (still better then Dust514 though). But ill probs pass on this cause i dont want to deal with millions of micro transactions anymore. I matured as a gamer and F2P games are usually more expensive in the long run then a full fledged game that costs 60Gé¼.
Honestly since CCP decided to move onto the PC my general assumption will be that there might be some heavy link between "Nova" and Eve which will force the eve players to play it aswell. In the end CCP probs gonna double dip on their fanbase which is as follows:
1. Subs for Eve online. 2. Nova clustered with micro transactions which basically forces you to buy em to be competetive.
Dust514 wasnt a testfield about gameplay, it was a testfield for microtransactions and how big the potential would be. Therefore they moved on to the PC where the most amount of players can be found. More players= more micro transactions etc. I wouldnt even be surprised if essential items such as skillbooks can only be obtained from Strongboxes.

Trying to be the devil's advocate...
based on the fact that most players would only be allowed to demo a match or two they may have "tweaked" the player creation / selection to these shiny archetypes to avoid players having to spend significant portions of their limited demo time kitting themselves out. After all for demos of the like of Valkyarie they just threw you into the game without having to fit out your ship (which is possible in that game)
It may be possible to fit out your characters later, and the like but they just did not include it in the demo, instead showing a nice looking screen to put on top of the selection. Recall that often times demos will include "demo-only" features for the purposes of hiding or glossing over features that currently are not fully implemented.

Then that point should have been clear in the keynote, in the interview after, or CCP needs to make it clear during some sort of round table.
So far they have had at least 2 opportunities to make things clear, and have not done so.

From what I can tell, they've stripped out everything that made DUST 514 unique/interesting/fun. This is also DUST's competitive advantage in the marketplace. I have 0 confidence that the Shanghai team can make a better CoD on a shoestring budget with very little experience. This makes no sense to me.
I was holding out a little hope until now. Hope of a rich/fun/deep thinking man's battlefield is gone. I wish CCP Rattati and the rest of the crew the best in the future. I appreciate all they did for us over the years, but this is not the vision I was sold on. I don't even mind that much about it being a PC exclusive. I have 0 confidence in the upper management of CCP to make the right decisions. If they had publicly traded stock, I'd sell it short.

Strip DUST of anything remotely fun and intresting and you get this, i get that EA just does not listen to the playerbase when making games but CCP has listened then decided to do the excat opposite which is even worse.

They removed vehicles cause the normal player is either too stupid or ignorant to take care of em so the solution is to eliminate everything that "annoyed" the casual player. Which means they take the game into space where you dont need vehicles at all to move around. I probs can sum it up like this:
-Redline got annoying? Removed -Vehicles are too hard to kill/balance? Removed -Snipers that sit in the redline? No problem cause redline doesnt exist anymore -High ground tactical uplinks? Not possible cause no more Dropships -Orbital strikes from eve? Nope not gonna work inside of a spaceship/station -PC fights will probs be replaced with capturing stations/citadells instead of beeing on a planet -Complex fitting? Nah casuals cant deal with that so they streamline it down to suit, gun and a equipment -game modes are just going to be copy pasted from COD.
So they rip the stuff out that made the game unique and replace it with casual friendly COD elements. Hmm i wonder how thats gonna workout cause ya know we all know how "good" COD clones are received on the gaming market. Todays gaming scene is all about of beeing unique and fun to play. Since the first thing is allready out of the question it basically reduces the success chance by 50%.
Unless CCP handsout more information then this game will flop. Oh and Inb4 you get early beta access by purchasing the "merc pack" from CCP.

It's just unreal engine 4... the engine itself is optimized. You don't need a magically ultra PC to run that. Even if Nova itself isn't that optimized, you can scale down graphics and it would probably be playable on most PCs.

If the CPM is excited I am hopeful.
What I don't understand is why CCP hasn't written a basic press release with that information for this event. They have to know what would happen in the forums if they simply showed a bare bones tech demo and said "We are concentrating on FPS and not MMO".
If they have plans, they should have been posted on these forums. How difficult could that be given they had weeks to write something up?

They probably wanted it to be some big surprise or something like that. I don't blame them for it.
I'm sure there will be something from the devs on the forums within the week.

I get that Fanfest is a very poor venu for talking about Nova. It's filled with EO players who want to hear about EO.
However they could have done a simultaneous reveal here on the forum explaining where they are now (simple tech demo) and what their vision is (supposedly most of the original promise). It should be obvious that saying what they have so far was going to cause people to assume the worst (a dumbed down lobby shooter).
What could be preventing them from presenting a broad outline? How could that be in any way worse than stirring up the sh*tstorm that they have? |

If the CPM is anything i am deeply worried, excited proberly means it will be shite and from current videos it is, confidence will mean CCP has not got a clue, indepth will mean that all options have been taken away and MMO = 6v6 at this point.
Rouge wedding anyone?
I would rarther take an opinion from a crackhead called jim and a talking gerbil than a bunch of yes idiots who do less than nothing while being some of the worst players of the game and have been elected by less than 1% of the playerbase because they are not really needed and everyone knows that.

Fighting in spaceship with set objectives and spawns with small corridors isnt open world. Open world games are like GTAV, far Cry4, Just Cause etc and as a prime example Planetside 2. Sure it might be a tech demo but its in a appearently playable state at the fanfest. So yeah i feel entitled enough to not be delusional fanboy who swallows everything from CCP in a desperate attempt to replace Dust.
To further elaborate about the open world thing i probs imagine you just gonna select a random planet, which then has a certain map assigned to it which is going to repeat itself numereus times. If the transition from one area to another isnt seamless its not open world.
You should be more cautious cause for all i know CCP went onto full blown greed mode. Look at eve online where you pay for your sub (in some way or another) and yet its getting bombarded with micro transactions. Now imagine how bad this gonna get on this "new" F2P game on PC?
Im skeptical until CCP shows me more how this whole thing is going to work otherwise you can title it "COD in space". Which ironically might happend with this years COD release.
Besides the more critics/feedback they get the more of a chance you have to change something.
