So I drove carefully down the street when I bumped into a street lamp. "Oh," I thought with a small chortle. "I should be more careful!" Then I looked at the my shields and realized, to my horror, that I somehow knocked out a third of my shields for bumping into an object that wasn't sloped.
Please correct this, CCP. It really shouldn't happen. |

I guess I could understand it happening for shields, but I ran into a structure lost all my shields and nearly half my armor. Certainly can't say the militia tank is over powered. |

I have experienced this as well: I lost 40% of my HP because I touched a box.
Also it seems you can't run over people. |

Yup, tanks are paper. The militia tanks, at least. Anyone want to test this out with a Sagaris? |

^^^ This is purely a physic/collision problem. One thing is hitting at full speed a wall another is slightly touching a box or a street light. |

I bumped some stuff in my Madrugar and had the same effect. Though I was only losing about 30% shields in a shields-light vehicle, but I wasn't ramming scenery at full throttle either. |

I'd just like to say that you CAN run people over with the tank.
And I know this sounds odd but I seem to take less collision damage when I'm moving at a high speed compared to a medium-low speed. Anyone else get that impression? |

It seems like slow speeds will just push people around (as in the speed when you first make contact, not if you hit them and then push them up to high speeds). If you hit someone at full speed in an LAV, they go down, at least they did last build, which also had running-people-over-issues. I managed to squish some people with an HAV yesterday though, and it seemed to happen more frequently when turning while moving forward, rather than just trying to hit them in a straight line. |

You bumping into a street light also speaks volumes about the way the driving controls are handled. |

I've watched a tank doing just this...completely ignored me as i walked up to it and vomited my supply of remote explosives on it...maybe we've play against each other once or twice?

Greetings,
So last night I was doing my impersonation of Forlorn driving a Tank, and as others stated, I hit a box and lost all of my shield and a good chuck on my armor. After getting blown up for my troubles, I tried again, and found that my tank was taking damage from any "obstacle" even if said obstacle was a 1/2 meter ridge. I have no problems with this happening to Minmatar vehicles, but it shouldn't be happening to the real HAVs or LAVs.
BTW, I noticed something very similar driving the new miltia dropships. |

Hmm I think people should just be a little more careful. I could see them lessening the damage a little. Honestly though a tank has A LOT of mass to it so when you hit a wall or something that is quite a jar to the shields and armor. I could see less so for the armor but agree with shields being ravaged by environmental hazards aka walls lol. |

I can see having SOME damage if you have a collision, but the vehicles are so hard to control that the amount of damage received is just ridiculous. |

I'm really hoping for controller remapping, some people prefer using the left stick for everything, I'm much more used to using R2/L2 for acceleration, so of you see me driving like I've just downed an entire gallon of bloody marys you'll know why. |

I agree the collision system is a bit borked. Bumpy terrain is enough to damage my tanks, and last i checked HAVs were supposed to be "all-terrain". Taking damage for running people over is just silly, even with infantry shields tanks are known for simply running through walls without a care, so some soldiers or bumps shouldn't be too hard. |

Worse yet, I had a drop ship delivered with nearly no armour left, because the delivery ship bumped a structure on the way down. |

I think I saw that and had assumed that a player was firing upon the delivery.
lol that would suck to order a prototype tank for example and it blow up on a building. |

Ok, yeah I just had a big sucktastic encounter with a light pole earlier today. It took off the remaining 50% of my Madrugar's armor when I backed into it. That's about 1700 damage from backing into a light pole. I think this needs to be toned down a notch. |

Militia vehicles are weak. If they were strong enough to not get seriously damaged by poor driving, then they would be strong enough to overwhelm the battlefield.
I can understand someone spending 200K on a fuly decked out Sarg' and dominating the field, but "free" militia tanks should be relatively easy to take out with the right weapons/tactics. |
