Dust is literally dust. I see a few people here trying to stay positive, but I bet those people are the ones that have PCs. We are console gamers, we dont just drop a ps controller and pickup a keyboard. Look what happens to eve players when they do that. They get wrecked. (Shots). You guys ****** all of us real console players, I dont care what anyone says to try to make it sound all good and sweet. Raped with no lube, I cant even sit. 3 years of being hopeful for this game and arguing with my family and friends that tried Dust and said it sucked. I always defended it and just held onto hope. CCP should have just sold the whole concept of the Dust to another company that actually could have taken care of it more than CCP themselves. We should have known this game was going to hell when you were still finding yourself killing yourself with a grenade that bounced back off an invisible wall. They coudnt fix minor ****.
Didnt CCP abandon another game they had? Now theyll probably start another project on PC and abandon that one too. RIP Dust, sorry your creators SUCK!

Seems like console gamers are as closed minded as the systems they are playing on.
As a guy who normally plays on PC, I had no problems just picking up Dust on PS3.

Really though, this is a console game, moving to PC, where most current players would rather not play. Why attack the console players who are a little butthurt that a game they enjoy is moving to PC?

I think the idea was to suck it up and go to where the game is like the PC players did who had to buy a PS3 to play this three years ago. Segragating yourself into arbitrary camps of being a 'console gamers' or 'PC gamer' is the dumbest concept I've heard in gaming.
"We are console gamers, we dont just drop a ps controller and pickup a keyboard". Why the **** not? It makes no sense especially now that gaming platforms are so homogenous. |

While console gamers tend to be younger and more laid back, playing mainly to have fun rather than prove he has the biggest pixel-peen around. Not to say that console gamers are not competitive though.

Stop kidding yourself, no one is going to make a choice of platform based on what "current players" think. If it was reasonable, dust would not be dead by may.
Apart from that it's pretty obvious that ccp failed ALSO because they decided to release on (old) console hardware.
And if that's not enough, it's supposed to be a tactical game. You don't see ARMA or similar games on consoles, do you? You know why? because console players want COD ffs, not a "thinking man's shooter". Because they can't ******* aim (shots fired) |

I bet all the PC gamers wouod ***** and most people would have never crossed over. You cant say **** about this move because YOU are good because you have a PC and prefer PC game overall. This is about people who strictly play on consoles becuse there is such thing as preference and most console gamers prefer consoles. Makes sense. |

That's a whole lot of generalisation that I don't believe to be correct. It's true that certain genres that attract more hardcore gamers only exist on PC (like tactical shooters and RTS etc), but there's so many kids casually playing around in CS or TF2 or Minecraft or Gmod and Battlefield these days. At that kind of level I haven't noticed any difference in the communities. |

I wouldn't classify The Division as a tactical shooter, but then again I wouldn't consider DUST a tactical shooter either. Tom Clancy series did away with the meat of tactical gameplay for over a decade (have yet to try Siege though). |

I understand the anger, i feel it. I don't game on pc. But all that aside what logically made you hopeful for the future of a game with a 7 year plan on a console that was already 7 years old. CCP is a computer gaming company and came into this with that mentality. They even stayed it was just a test for future games before it even "took off." Lmao but no one read up on that part I suppose. It's a game, chill.

Like, not since Ghost Recon Desert Siege or Rainbow Six 3 were Tom Clancy games truely tactical, and that was 2004. Ok call them "cover shooters" now, but they are a far-cry from the CoDs that you claim all console players want. I honestly haven't played a CoD since BlOps2, and have never played any multiplayer Halo. The truth is, there are a lot of ex-pc players, hardcore gamers, who play console now because it is simply a better experience. Games like ARMA are starting to come to consoles, and are being recieved quite well by the console community. Are there still casual kiddies who will pick up the next 12 graphic updated iterations of CoD in the millions? Of course, that wont change.

Some other guy said that, not me. And games like ArmA are not coming to console. Can you name me some? I legit would check them out.
I've found the opposite is happening, back in the day Operation Flashpoint, SOCOM, Ghost Recon Desert Storm etc existed on consoles as well as PC. Now there's pretty much nothing in that genre sadly. |

We will have to wait until E3 to see, but arma 4, RUST, and Day-Z are all in the works for PS4 if rumors are correct. The devs at bohemian said that arma 3 wont make it, but the have a devkit already ready for arma4.
Truth is, we have yet to see a real "next gen" game released. Most of the games out right now started development on ps3 or a crude ps4 devkit. Devs are just now realizing what can be done with the current gen.

Haven't heard any rumors about ArmA 4 not even with a Google search, and Rust and Day Z are definitely not tactical shooters (Rust certainly isn't, it's as arcade as they come). They're survival games which is a new and interesting genre in it's own right.
Well if that's the case then this generation is super SLOW. They better get started then because it's already been over two years and I only expect five years before the PS5 is out. Hell, the next Nintendo console is already releasing this year.
Current tactical shooters I'd consider to be ArmA 3, Red Orchestra 2, Squad (which is FANTASTIC), Star Citizen FPS mode, Ground Branch and possibly Insurgency. |

TACTICAL??
https://youtu.be/OHW8TZzlGVM?t=45s
please watch 2 minutes of this gameplay and come back here and tell me it's tactical.
THEY HAVE HEALTH BARS AND LEVELS... dude, that's World of Warcraft with guns, what are you high on?
I really feel console players have very different perspective on what means "tactical"
for me , tactical is VERY VERY low TTK, less dancing and shooting, more sneaking, gathering intel, positioning, gear.\
but looking at dust bunnies, tactical means enough TTK to make a sandwich in the meantime, duels are decided by who has the highscore in dance dance revolution, whatever you do, just DON'T TRY TO AIM IN A CROUCHED POSITION!!

I also beleive we have seen plenty of next-gen games, but like I said they're not niche genres but mass market ones like GTA and CoD etc. Current tactical shooters I'd consider to be ArmA 3, Red Orchestra 2, Squad (which is FANTASTIC), Star Citizen FPS mode, Ground Branch and possibly Insurgency. Cant find the article I read recently but I found one from nearly two years ago in which they had a discussion with a developer. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-03-24-bohemia-rules-out-consoles-for-arma-3
And GTAV is in no way next-gen. I own it on ps3. Everyone knows that CoD just gets a polishing pass for next year. The few games I have seen to be completely next gen, have been games like ESO and the witcher 3, which were some of the first games into development for next-gen. The Division and Mirror's Edge: Catalyst will be truly next-gen games, and they are already blowing previous titles out of the water, before release!

I guess the division it is.
I have a PC but i am not positive.
Sure i can most likely play the game but really after watching this car crash from the passenger seat do i want to? The answer of course is yes because i get to watch CCP screw over the PC base instead while i laugh.
CCP have a track record of trying to develop something then dropping it completely so dont be suprised when it happens again.
Division looks alright.

TACTICAL?? https://youtu.be/OHW8TZzlGVM?t=45splease watch 2 minutes of this gameplay and come back here and tell me it's tactical. THEY HAVE HEALTH BARS AND LEVELS... dude, that's World of Warcraft with guns, what are you high on? I really feel console players have very different perspective on what means "tactical" for me , tactical is VERY VERY low TTK, less dancing and shooting, more sneaking, gathering intel, positioning, gear.\ but looking at dust bunnies, tactical means enough TTK to make a sandwich in the meantime, duels are decided by who has the highscore in dance dance revolution, whatever you do, just DON'T TRY TO AIM IN A CROUCHED POSITION!! Actually very low TTK is the opposite of a tactical shooter. Look at CoD and BF, they have extremely low TTK and are called "twitch" shooters because they rely on quick reflexes and awareness. Tactical shooters rely on actual tactics, such as placement, weapon choice, ect. Why would weapon choice mean anything if they all kill at 100m in one shot?
Most modern tactical shooters have evolved into "cover" shooters now, but they still have more roots in tactical shooters than twitch shooters.
The words have evolved over the years. Just like "hardcore and casual" have. Hardcore used to mean, if you died you lost everything and started over, and casual meant, well, not that..
Now hardcore means "I have no life and play all day, whereas casual means I can only play a couple hours a week.

Yes, Cod and BF have extremely low TTK but they lack other qualities I've (and you also did in your post) written. To answer your question about weapon choice with another question:
Why would I try to shoot an smg at someone who is 1 km away from me? Why would I try to destroy a tank with a shotgun?
It's really easy to come up with milions of answers. Look for them in the real world ;)
Cover shooters are just shooters, meaning arcade gameplay. Can't see anything tactical about the fact that you can see someone behind you without turning around...
But I`ll try to check some tactical shooters on consoles, please post titles I can check that have very low TTK and are tactical.
As for people without life playing all day - they are not hardcore, they are just no-lifes. You can play a game "hardcore" while spending a couple hours a week. Like trying to get through ultimate ghosts and goblins on lunch brakes ;) |

You know you can have multiple gaming platforms. You don't need high end PC to play some good games. You can also plug that PC to your TV and it is no different than PS3/4.
Heck, I use my old-ish laptop I use for work to play most popular MMOs.
Ps. Tactical Shooter :
Quote:These games simulate realistic combat, thus making tactics and caution more important than quick reflexes in other action games Example, Counter Strike. Dust and other games alike are like action games.
