As a guy who normally plays on PC, I had no problems just picking up Dust on PS3. Seems like most PC gamers are as mindless as the point and click shooters they play. And this is coming from an ex-PC gamer who also had no issues using a DS3 or a M/KB. Really though, this is a console game, moving to PC, where most current players would rather not play. Why attack the console players who are a little butthurt that a game they enjoy is moving to PC?
Stop kidding yourself, no one is going to make a choice of platform based on what "current players" think. If it was reasonable, dust would not be dead by may.
Apart from that it's pretty obvious that ccp failed ALSO because they decided to release on (old) console hardware.
And if that's not enough, it's supposed to be a tactical game. You don't see ARMA or similar games on consoles, do you? You know why? because console players want COD ffs, not a "thinking man's shooter". Because they can't ******* aim (shots fired) |

TACTICAL??
https://youtu.be/OHW8TZzlGVM?t=45s
please watch 2 minutes of this gameplay and come back here and tell me it's tactical.
THEY HAVE HEALTH BARS AND LEVELS... dude, that's World of Warcraft with guns, what are you high on?
I really feel console players have very different perspective on what means "tactical"
for me , tactical is VERY VERY low TTK, less dancing and shooting, more sneaking, gathering intel, positioning, gear.\
but looking at dust bunnies, tactical means enough TTK to make a sandwich in the meantime, duels are decided by who has the highscore in dance dance revolution, whatever you do, just DON'T TRY TO AIM IN A CROUCHED POSITION!!

P14GU3 wrote: Actually very low TTK is the opposite of a tactical shooter. Look at CoD and BF, they have extremely low TTK and are called "twitch" shooters because they rely on quick reflexes and awareness. Tactical shooters rely on actual tactics, such as placement, weapon choice, ect. Why would weapon choice mean anything if they all kill at 100m in one shot?
Most modern tactical shooters have evolved into "cover" shooters now, but they still have more roots in tactical shooters than twitch shooters.
The words have evolved over the years. Just like "hardcore and casual" have. Hardcore used to mean, if you died you lost everything and started over, and casual meant, well, not that..
Now hardcore means "I have no life and play all day, whereas casual means I can only play a couple hours a week.
Yes, Cod and BF have extremely low TTK but they lack other qualities I've (and you also did in your post) written. To answer your question about weapon choice with another question:
Why would I try to shoot an smg at someone who is 1 km away from me? Why would I try to destroy a tank with a shotgun?
It's really easy to come up with milions of answers. Look for them in the real world ;)
Cover shooters are just shooters, meaning arcade gameplay. Can't see anything tactical about the fact that you can see someone behind you without turning around...
But I`ll try to check some tactical shooters on consoles, please post titles I can check that have very low TTK and are tactical.
As for people without life playing all day - they are not hardcore, they are just no-lifes. You can play a game "hardcore" while spending a couple hours a week. Like trying to get through ultimate ghosts and goblins on lunch brakes ;) |
