Everything was much better during closed beta, and it's only gone backwards since. But I really don't disagree with that. I only wanted to shed some light on the "gameplay" word. What I really meant is that, beside the "feeling" with the game, the core gameplay is basically the same: you have to choose what dropsuit to use, how to fit it, then you search a match, then you play the game in a certain way etc. For example: the moving MCC don't really add anything to gameplay, it adds some kind of immersion. Sound also doesn't add anything important gameplay-wise, unless, for example, CCP decides to add a much stronger footsteps sound: this way the gameplay would change because people modify the way they play the game, paying attention not to make too much noise. This would be a slight gameplay-changer, but it still does change it. Another drastic gameplay changer, however, would have been the closed beta "experimental" sniper rifle: it had special behaviors and bullet travel time and falloff (it was as buggy as hell, that's why we don't have it now). Needless to say, this would have changed the way snipers snipe. And if we had bullet travel time and bullet falloff on certain weapons, this would also change the gameplay drastically. Edit: I almost forgot, another gameplay changer has been the introduction of cloak device Myo's completely changed the way Dust was played and I personally feel like it was not only a step in the wrong direction but a step in the wrong direction on the edge of a cliff. Pre-Myofib jumping dust was still a game worth playing, Post-Myo's.....might as well give every suit 5 highs 5 lows and unlimited CPU and PG. The game has literally dissolved into who's the laggiest latino with a Bons/Agimus and the most Myo's. Dust in beta was a noteworthy game. Now it's just a bundle of coulda-woulda-shoulda and a handful of too late.

Everything was much better during closed beta, and it's only gone backwards since. Not everything has gotten worse. We have had some improvements and many additions to the game since then. While I agree some things were executed better in closed beta, there are some things that are better now. What could possibly be better now? More features, more weapons which offer better balance, more suits which offer better balance. There is all around better balance now than there was in closed beta. No one weapon or module (looking at you myofib) is overpowered over everyone.

despite the frunk, you are making valid points.
Believe it or not, most of the time i have free to DUST up is occupied talking to the devs.
But past that the issue we are bumping into is... we can only take your feedback TO the devs ATM.
We have nothing we can report back at this time.
As a few have said, there's only so many times I can say "things are happening please be patient" before I feel like a placation-vomiting moron.
I see the DUST community as being interested in actual information, not in vague handwavium.
When I have more than vague handwavium, I will be the first a**hole on the keyboard answering your questions as best I can.
But despite my usual proclivities, I'm not interested in making touchy topics worse.

The CPM has done more than enough to earn my trust over the last few iterations. They've only had a few bad members, and for the most part I feel like they all went up to bat for the DUST community in a big way.
Honestly, i feel the CPM has done more for us than the CSM has done for EVE in the last few years. I would argue we have the superior council, even with their more limited power, history, perks, and exposure.
Perhaps you are too lost in the silence to remember back before it started, but the CPM when unmuzzled is one mouthy group. They started numerous feedback threads, spreadsheets, and googledocs with the community to bundle feedback. They've worked nearly a second job (for free) on our behalf, and I know how proactive they are when they are given the NDA wiggle room to do so.

Part of the whole reason for the NDA is not indicating when features may or may not be released, and what may or may not be in them. Giving a time table is an obvious breach of that.

Dust has the same core gameplay it had when it first launched.
LOL no How is the GAMEPLAY different? The only difference is HP has a value and isn't a percentage. lol did you watch the whole video? Because your reply makes it sound like you didn't. I'll tell you what, you explain how it's different. All that's changed since beta except graphics is that skirmish isn't the same game mode, HP has values and certain things have been removed. The core gameplay hasn't changed.
Five huge paradigm shifts in gameplay and in game experience:
1. Invisibility: Does this even require an explanation of how it changed the game. This allows shotgunners to get even closer and actually insert their shotgun into the rectal area.
2. Jumping 25 feet high: breaks the logical routing of a footsoldier around obstacles and significantly changed gun game. Acts as a replacement strafe since strafing was nerfed.
3. Strafe speed and backing speed reduced: impairs ability to actually maneuver out of harms way. Now, there is no recourse if caught more than 3 feet from cover.
4. Player trading: allowed players with seemingly unlimited cash to amass a 50 year supply of officer weapons in their personal depot. This changed the context of the battlefield and meant even more instadeaths for noobs and amateurs.
5. Invincible tanks: ... There was a time when any tank could be destroyed by a couple of foot soldiers. Then there came a wave of invincible tanks reducing A/V to dropship removal.
There are probably more, but the core experience of this game has changed much in my opinion. I liked it early on and find most of the "progress" to be disgruntling. Fun is going down. Dumb is going up. |

Before I get banned from the forum . a little bird told me that they have been privileged in testing out the new features and giving their feed back to CCP . is the source reliable? I believe so . this person was not to long ago with Rattati on skype exchanging addons and fixes on the previous major update . ( does CCP have a private test server ? Yes they do / did they just finish building a new server? Yes they did ) . can I say with a clear conscious that its being tested for the PS3? Nope. Can you see it on the PS4? 50/50 , same could be said for P.C .

Especially when cloaks were 100% invisible even when moving when viewed through certain scopes (laser rifle for the most part) It was ridiculous for an enemy who's already almost impossible to see, to literally be impossible to see when you aimed at him. It was like looking at really dim stars.

And the mayor has stage 3 prostate cancer and is 24/7 packing a catheter, the man's 87 and he gets around more in a week than every CPM in 3 months.
I don't pester the CPM about upcoming anything and don't intend to and I suggest that the community for the most part let them be, we all know they can't say anything, but dammit that doesn't mean they can't play anything.

Judge was the master of pulling the wool over people's eyes.
Cloaks are harder to see the more backlighting there is and the further away you are looking. Muzzle flash also makes them harder to see. Judge has chosen long range engagements with muzzle flash effect, and crucially high levels of background light in these examples. How often is a cloaked merc going to have sky backlighting?
Cloaks are not invisible through laser rifle scopes.
I'm sure he would say it just demonstrates that cloaks can be invisible or difficult to see. But the level of rhetoric, bias and misdirection he put into his videos, whilst sounding intelligent, was always a dangerous combination. |
