Hello o/
I know you guys can't tell us anything so I just want to know the answer to one question. Are you excited about anything in Dust's future? You don't even have to say what. I just want to know if you think there is a beneficial change coming?

Most don't even play anymore.... Check their weekly kill numbers... Pretty sure most starter fits hit better numbers in a single game than some of them have on their monthlies. So that tells you how little most of them play. Some are still active, but they are by far in the minority. |

Don't worry, they want to tell you. As Dennie Fleetfoot (current CPM and CEO of D-UNI) point out to us in the corp mail, one can only assure the community so many times before they have to take a long break and wait for the NDA to get lifted eventually.

Darth and Kirk also have impressive hours logged and lifetime WPs earned. What exactly has changed so much in the last 6 months that required the CPM to play every single day? Or week? Or how about ******* month?
Dust has the same core gameplay it had when it first launched. The current CPM has plenty of experience under their belts and playing the game weekly, with so little development occurring, is just silly.
I'd rather them spend that time in meetings with CCP actually doing what we elected them to do: act as sounding boards for CCP's ideas and providing informed feedback.
If we get a real patch soon then I would like to see the CPM login to play test the changes/new features.

Ripley what do you think not playing/not active on the boards means from a CPM? You can't say "I don't care" any louder without just starting a thread about it in GD. Hard to be a sounding board for a community you are no longer a part of. Regardless of "patches", active is active and inactive is inactive. You have some that still play, but the sad truth is most won the rigged popularity contest and moved on. In truth its more than a little shady to run the post then disappear. Looks like most wanted a free trip and an ego boost. For the few that still actually play and communicate, good for them and good for us. The rest, stop making excuses for. They can always post their own....if they ever actually log on.
I mean you don't elect a Senator to represent your state only to be ok with them moving to Canada. You expect interaction. Believe it or not some things about this game and its meta change even when there is no update. Seen any unkillable LAVs of late crashing PCs? That issues is one you would not be aware of if you have not been on for months. There are many other issues as well as well that were not here even a month ago. When it comes to representation "absence DOES NOT make the heart grow fonder".
Truthfully you yourself have been scarce on the game as well, so maybe your perception is a little distorted. |

Soto,
I'll remember to ask that the next time I elect someone to represent me.
You know because its cool to run for a position you can't actually fill or decide you don't want to after the fact.. I can bet you that "real life" won't stop them from getting on the plane.
Bottom line is communicating or playing a few hours a week is not much to ask no matter how busy you are. If it is then you need to resign. Somehow some of them manage to actually do that, so why would you expect different from the rest.
Take a look at the other CPM related thread on the front page here. Notice you only see the same few actually taking part. They found the time, and made the effort. Kinda what you expect from them all. |

The CPM aren't meant to relay our every thought and action, they aren't meant to be the ones super active. They get their information from us, because they don't catch everything even when they do play. It is OUR job to make ideas to change this game, not theirs. WE ARE THE THINKERS, THEY ARE THE MESSENGERS.

I'm still in contact with many of the cpm. All these complainers... I don't even do anything and I'm more involved. They get to listen to my stupid ideas everyday and they tolerate me with the utmost respect. They may even tolerate you too even with that attitude of yours.
What you need to realize is that your perspective is all wrong. You are blaming the wrong people. CPM has no power over CCP to force them to say anything. Their history has shown them to be an asset to the community even before becoming CPM. This popularity contest as you call it, is not what you think it is. They are popular among the player base because they are good people with good intentions for this game. Just because their activity dropped does not really change them or who they are.... It was CCP that alienated both us and the CPM. You are not around too hear it but they complain just as much about CCP's silence as everybody else. If you got more involved and actually tried to get to know any of them directly then you would see it. What are they really supposed to do at this point? Their hands are tied by CCP.
So their activity dropped... so what. the activity of everybody else has dropped too. CCP stopped talking to us. They probably can't flat out say it, but support for the game may be dropping. Or who knows maybe there is a secret port in development but nothing is certain... and they can't confirm it as to not disappoint anyone. You can be whatever you want to be. (An Optiminist, a pessimist, or a realist.) Just stop talking of things you know absolutely nothing about and try to construct a valid argument before you attempt it.

Bottom line is usually a persons signature. Where most of the CPM either list their email, skype, or twitter. Many eve dev's use twitter too. We all stalk each other for news that never comes. Do you have something specific you want to tell them and show them? Do you have a specific question? The reason they don't post here or answer questions is because they have no answers to give and no new information to release. It is called NDA.

How about this one, It is you who do not understand the role, and as usual you speak out of ignorance...... READ THE WHITE PAGES. Its pretty specific about expectations. One of them is a presence and updates about their doings here. You can't do that if you don't log on. You can't speak on anyone's behalf if you aren't here to read what they are saying. Not getting paid is not an excuse either as they knew that going in. If you honestly think representing players of a game you no longer play regularly or in a some cases at all is the best thing for the community or fulfilling the voters expectations for a CPM you are delusional.
Everyone knows they have very little real power, but they do have the ear of those that do while the rest of us do not. If they are not a part of the community how can they represent it? There are some who are vocal and active here, but just check the monthly numbers for some and you can see their interest in the game and the community has waned.
You can make excuses all you want, but their are many duties and expectations with the position. Some are doing their part, but others have plainly moved on. We all know the game is stagnant, but there are numerous NEW ideas presented here regularly that you could only know about by reading them and discussing here. Their are new issues arising in the game itself that you can only experience by actually playing the game (again the LAV exploit, limbo exploit, or match making errors).
Sorry I expect my representatives to actually play the game, but in all honesty that's just common sense.

I'll ask you for a good argument as to how having someone who no longer takes part in the game is the best person to represent those who do.
Like I said before there are some who make effort, and others who have moved on. I just don't know why you would want to make excuses for those who are not doing their part and stating that someone does not play anymore when you can plainly see it on the leaderboards is stating a fact and honestly not really up for debate. When I have news I can f*cking share with the community I will do so.
Until then, let me stew in my juices in peace over it.
Ripper is right, One Eyed King is right.
Get this very clear. we signed a legally binding document promising not to reveal information that hasn't been approved for release. This means that until the devs are given the green light to share news, no matter how exciting or seemingly disastrous, we, the CPM do not have said green light.
We post on the forums, we play. We are active in discussions with the devs in ways that do bear fruit. But until we get the go-ahead like we did with the hotfix containing a lot of the shield revamps, gallente assault buffs, etc that I opened a rather interesting Q&A in the council chamber on, we cannot simply crap out tidbits and teasers to make you happy.
"NDA" has replaced the following words in my vocabulary: All of the ones that are fun to scream at people while angry.
Many of us play on alts because of the sheer breadth of sh*tposting, accusative spam that vomits itself into our chat channels which we don't want to deal with while we play the game. Some of us have real lives, and don't spend all of our time surgically attached to video game consoles 24/7 sustained only by an IV drip of coffee and steady diet of hot pockets.
And please, tell me again how we're not representing the community. Tell me how we aren't doing our "jobs" and I'm just going to point and laugh at you. And collect the tears.
When we have news to give, you will get news. That is all I can promise you. Until then, much as I would like to say something inspiring and diplomatic, you're going to have to find a way to cope. But you're not going to get more answers, faster, with rhetorical bait posts.
Imagine a gigantic, shiny bug zapper.
Embrace your destiny.
