Check their weekly kill numbers... Pretty sure most starter fits hit better numbers in a single game than some of them have on their monthlies. So that tells you how little most of them play. Some are still active, but they are by far in the minority. How is this relevant? Zaria has thousands of hours logged in Dust. Darth and Kirk also have impressive hours logged and lifetime WPs earned. What exactly has changed so much in the last 6 months that required the CPM to play every single day? Or week? Or how about ******* month? Dust has the same core gameplay it had when it first launched. The current CPM has plenty of experience under their belts and playing the game weekly, with so little development occurring, is just silly. I'd rather them spend that time in meetings with CCP actually doing what we elected them to do: act as sounding boards for CCP's ideas and providing informed feedback. If we get a real patch soon then I would like to see the CPM login to play test the changes/new features. It's true. Ripley what do you think not playing/not active on the boards means from a CPM? You can't say "I don't care" any louder without just starting a thread about it in GD. Hard to be a sounding board for a community you are no longer a part of. Regardless of "patches", active is active and inactive is inactive. You have some that still play, but the sad truth is most won the rigged popularity contest and moved on. In truth its more than a little shady to run the post then disappear. Looks like most wanted a free trip and an ego boost. For the few that still actually play and communicate, good for them and good for us. The rest, stop making excuses for. They can always post their own....if they ever actually log on. I mean you don't elect a Senator to represent your state only to be ok with them moving to Canada. You expect interaction. Believe it or not some things about this game and its meta change even when there is no update. Seen any unkillable LAVs of late crashing PCs? That issues is one you would not be aware of if you have not been on for months. There are many other issues as well that were not here even a month ago. When it comes to representation "absence DOES NOT make the heart grow fonder". That and good ideas don't just arrive with new updates. You realize some if not all of the CPM have real lives right?

You know because its cool to run for a position you can't actually fill or decide you don't want to after the fact.. I can bet you that "real life" won't stop them from getting on the plane. Bottom line is communicating or playing a few hours a week is not much to ask no matter how busy you are. If it is then you need to resign. Somehow some of them manage to actually do that, so why would you expect different from the rest. Take a look at the other CPM related thread on the front page here. Notice you only see the same few actually taking part. They found the time, and made the effort. Kinda what you expect from them all. Don't just group all of them into one category. The CPM aren't meant to relay our every thought and action, they aren't meant to be the ones super active. They get their information from us, because they don't catch everything even when they do play. It is OUR job to make ideas to change this game, not theirs. WE ARE THE THINKERS, THEY ARE THE MESSENGERS.

Tell me, are you saying you wouldn't do anything different if you were CPM?

They get to listen to my stupid ideas everyday and they tolerate me with the utmost respect. They may even tolerate you too even with that attitude of yours.
What you need to realize is that your perspective is all wrong. You are blaming the wrong people. CPM has no power over CCP to force them to say anything. Their history has shown them to be an asset to the community even before becoming CPM. This popularity contest as you call it, is not what you think it is. They are popular among the player base because they are good people with good intentions for this game. Just because their activity dropped does not really change them or who they are.... It was CCP that alienated both us and the CPM. You are not around too hear it but they complain just as much about CCP's silence as everybody else. If you got more involved and actually tried to get to know any of them directly then you would see it. What are they really supposed to do at this point? Their hands are tied by CCP.
So their activity dropped... so what. the activity of everybody else has dropped too. CCP stopped talking to us. They probably can't flat out say it, but support for the game may be dropping. Or who knows maybe there is a secret port in development but nothing is certain... and they can't confirm it as to not disappoint anyone. You can be whatever you want to be. (An Optiminist, a pessimist, or a realist.) Just stop talking of things you know absolutely nothing about and try to construct a valid argument before you attempt it. Your reverse psychology doesn't work well on me.

Bottom line is usually a persons signature. Where most of the CPM either list their email, skype, or twitter. Many eve dev's use twitter too. We all stalk each other for news that never comes. Do you have something specific you want to tell them and show them? Do you have a specific question? Contact them and stop being the guy that puts forth no effort other than shi tposting on the forums. Because that is my job. The reason they don't post here or answer questions is because they have no answers to give and no new information to release. It is called NDA. No one is **** posting. They just made an observation from readily available data. Read the white pages there is a lot more to the position than having an email link in your signature. I'll ask you for a good argument as to how having someone who no longer takes part in the game is the best person to represent those who do. Like I said before there are some who make effort, and others who have moved on. I just don't know why you would want to make excuses for those who are not doing their part and stating that someone does not play anymore when you can plainly see it on the leaderboards is stating a fact and honestly not really up for debate. I am pretty sure most of us expected ALL of the CPMs to remain active members of the community during their term. Right now a few of them carry the burden for the others. You never need to be part of something to represent it. I'm willing to bet that any one of the CPM has more hours on this game than you could ever dream of.

Everything was different - the feel, the sounds, the installations, the MCC actually moving from one point to another, the weapons, and you didn't have people jumping around like kangaroos (before the horrible myo fib change) with shotguns and mass drivers.
Everything was much better during closed beta, and it's only gone backwards since. Not everything has gotten worse. We have had some improvements and many additions to the game since then. While I agree some things were executed better in closed beta, there are some things that are better now.

While I agree some things were executed better in closed beta, there are some things that are better now. What could possibly be better now? More features, more weapons which offer better balance, more suits which offer better balance. There is all around better balance now than there was in closed beta. No one weapon or module (looking at you myofib) is overpowered over everyone.

I know you guys can't tell us anything so I just want to know the answer to one question. Are you excited about anything in Dust's future? You don't even have to say what. I just want to know if you think there is a beneficial change coming? Dust haven't a future. And you know this how? Have you peaked behind the curtain? No? Then you can't say Dust is dead.

(At this point I am quite....make that significantly, drunk. Please excuse any grammatical errors and/or made up words)
despite the drunk, you are making valid points. Believe it or not, most of the time i have free to DUST up is occupied talking to the devs. But past that the issue we are bumping into is... we can only take your feedback TO the devs ATM. We have nothing we can report back at this time. As a few have said, there's only so many times I can say "things are happening please be patient" before I feel like a placation-vomiting moron. I see the DUST community as being interested in actual information, not in vague handwavium. When I have more than vague handwavium, I will be the first a**hole on the keyboard answering your questions as best I can. But despite my usual proclivities, I'm not interested in making touchy topics worse. I don't really care if all you have is kinda handwavium. I just want to see you guys on the field. Forget the questions, forget the expectations. I just want to know you guys are still dealing with the same BS on a daily basis that we are. You can't help fix a game you aren't playing. So pretty please, CPM, from the bottom of my cold beatless heart, please make an effort to be seen on the field with the rest of us. I know you all have real lives and things to do, places to be, but I don't, I see who's playing and who's not and I can plainly see that you guys aren't. If you can't find the time to at least work in a few battles a week then please resign, I don't want to be represented by someone who never steps foot on my side of the fence. It's like having the president of the U.S. living in Dubai. A little bird told me that a lot of the time they play on alts.

I'm talking about the first few months of the cloak. At one point you literally couldn't see a cloaker when aiming through a laser rifle. Ah, you gave me a heart attack, I thought you were talking about the current cloak. Phew...

I just have an issue with this invisible representation we currently have. I see the mayor of my town at least once a week. Haven't seen a CPM for months. And the mayor has stage 3 prostate cancer and is 24/7 packing a catheter, the man's 87 and he gets around more in a week than every CPM in 3 months. I don't pester the CPM about upcoming anything and don't intend to and I suggest that the community for the most part let them be, we all know they can't say anything, but dammit that doesn't mean they can't play anything. They do talk on the forums, twitter, and skype. Quite frequently too.
