Soto Gallente wrote:Tell me, are you saying you wouldn't do anything different if you were CPM? I play Dust ever single day no matter the lag, no matter the matchmaking, no matter what. I think the point they are trying to make is that the CPM shouldn't consist (for the most part) of people you could consider "Forum Warriors". I feel like the CPM should consist of players who legitimately don't do anything but play Dust. There are plenty of us out there and I think that we could do a lot more to appease the community than the current CPM who I literally never see in a match. How are you supposed to help fix a game you never/barely ever play? Aside from mazzzturbating and eating chicken nuggets I really don't do anything but play Dust, I think I'd make a much better CPM member than many of the current CPM members I could rattle off.

Ice Royal Glantix wrote:Git Gud Bruh wrote:-snip- The CPM are supposed to be a link between CCP and the community; they collect our feedback and act as advocates for the playerbase when it comes to making changes to the game. You want the CPM to be people who play the game a lot, but, honestly, that only helps them create their own opinions, not collect and pitch the community's. Ideally, the CPM should be people who are very social and connected with the playerbase, so Forum Warriors who occasionally play the game are much better choices for the Council than active Dust addicts. Of course, it is difficult for the CPM to socialize with the playerbase when everyone sh*t talks them and tries to tell them how to do their job. I would hate be in their shoes, and I'm pretty sure you would too. Also, read Breakin's posts: They do play the game. That is all. Sincerely, Glantix / Ice But the majority of the current CPM does not play the game on anything near a regular basis, how can you socialize with players you never play with? I agree they have a difficult job and wish them godspeed in every sense of the word but dammit none of them play like we play. We are there, every single day, debating balancing issues and new ideas. We're the ones getting wrecked by the things that need a nerf and playing with the roles that need a buff, not the CPM (from my personal view of the battlefield). They don't play the game like many other players play the game and I feel like if your job is to socialize with a playerbase you should be a player, but the last time I saw a CPM in a battle it was 3 months ago and it was Breakin Stuff, him and Darth are the only two CPM's I could even confirm exist anymore. I'm not saying the CPM is doing a bad job, I'm just saying nobody notices them doing their job at all, good or bad. I feel like they should make more of an effort to mingle, hell, I'll invite every single one of them to OBTB and we can have a grand old party and they can hear my points about ADS balancing.
TLDR: I feel over-represented and under-understanded by the CPM

Everything was different - the feel, the sounds, the installations, the MCC actually moving from one point to another, the weapons, and you didn't have people jumping around like kangaroos (before the horrible myo fib change) with shotguns and mass drivers.
Everything was much better during closed beta, and it's only gone backwards since. But I really don't disagree with that. I only wanted to shed some light on the "gameplay" word. What I really meant is that, beside the "feeling" with the game, the core gameplay is basically the same: you have to choose what dropsuit to use, how to fit it, then you search a match, then you play the game in a certain way etc. For example: the moving MCC don't really add anything to gameplay, it adds some kind of immersion. Sound also doesn't add anything important gameplay-wise, unless, for example, CCP decides to add a much stronger footsteps sound: this way the gameplay would change because people modify the way they play the game, paying attention not to make too much noise. This would be a slight gameplay-changer, but it still does change it. Another drastic gameplay changer, however, would have been the closed beta "experimental" sniper rifle: it had special behaviors and bullet travel time and falloff (it was as buggy as hell, that's why we don't have it now). Needless to say, this would have changed the way snipers snipe. And if we had bullet travel time and bullet falloff on certain weapons, this would also change the gameplay drastically. Edit: I almost forgot, another gameplay changer has been the introduction of cloak device Myo's completely changed the way Dust was played and I personally feel like it was not only a step in the wrong direction but a step in the wrong direction on the edge of a cliff. Pre-Myofib jumping dust was still a game worth playing, Post-Myo's.....might as well give every suit 5 highs 5 lows and unlimited CPU and PG. The game has literally dissolved into who's the laggiest latino with a Bons/Agimus and the most Myo's. Dust in beta was a noteworthy game. Now it's just a bundle of coulda-woulda-shoulda and a handful of too late.

despite the drunk, you are making valid points. Believe it or not, most of the time i have free to DUST up is occupied talking to the devs. But past that the issue we are bumping into is... we can only take your feedback TO the devs ATM. We have nothing we can report back at this time. As a few have said, there's only so many times I can say "things are happening please be patient" before I feel like a placation-vomiting moron. I see the DUST community as being interested in actual information, not in vague handwavium. When I have more than vague handwavium, I will be the first a**hole on the keyboard answering your questions as best I can. But despite my usual proclivities, I'm not interested in making touchy topics worse. I don't really care if all you have is kinda handwavium. I just want to see you guys on the field. Forget the questions, forget the expectations. I just want to know you guys are still dealing with the same BS on a daily basis that we are. You can't help fix a game you aren't playing. So pretty please, CPM, from the bottom of my cold beatless heart, please make an effort to be seen on the field with the rest of us. I know you all have real lives and things to do, places to be, but I don't, I see who's playing and who's not and I can plainly see that you guys aren't. If you can't find the time to at least work in a few battles a week then please resign, I don't want to be represented by someone who never steps foot on my side of the fence. It's like having the president of the U.S. living in Dubai.

Especially when cloaks were 100% invisible even when moving when viewed through certain scopes (laser rifle for the most part) It was ridiculous for an enemy who's already almost impossible to see, to literally be impossible to see when you aimed at him. It was like looking at really dim stars.

Soto Gallente wrote:A little bird told me that a lot of the time they play on alts. I don't mind if they play on alts. Most of us have an alt or 5. I just have an issue with this invisible representation we currently have. I see the mayor of my town at least once a week. Haven't seen a CPM for months. And the mayor has stage 3 prostate cancer and is 24/7 packing a catheter, the man's 87 and he gets around more in a week than every CPM in 3 months.
I don't pester the CPM about upcoming anything and don't intend to and I suggest that the community for the most part let them be, we all know they can't say anything, but dammit that doesn't mean they can't play anything.

I'm talking about the first few months of the cloak. At one point you literally couldn't see a cloaker when aiming through a laser rifle.

Proof of Cloaks being invisible to laser rifle scopes.
