On the 14th November 2015 a general strike will be held. We will not log onto DUST at all on this date.
Information as to why we are striking can be found in the above link.
This strike must have impact. As such, it is vital to get a list of players who commit to striking on this date. Confirm that you will be striking by posting below with an 'X', and I will add your name to the list.
CCP has pushed us to this drastic action. Note that this is not a strike to the Devs. We want to get the attention of the higher-ups, who make the decisions about the future of this game.

The difference being that there, the fundamental issue was one of direction and not of basic functionality. It was also on a vastly larger scale with far more outrage that the general simmering bitterness of these forums.
'Striking' will not magically make the bugs get squashed and the lag suddenly become bearable. Why would it?

due to this, I feel compelled to say only two things.
one: a strike only works if you have a way to prevent others from doing their job as well. I you go on strike, and are only a giant racket that they have the ability to ignore what good are you? if you can not truly affect anybody, what is the point of making a racket?
Second: Not that this has any thing to do with the topic, but due to my current work schedule I can't get on on Saturdays anyway, so what the hell, sign me up for this quite frankly useless act, it isn't the stupidest thing I have done.

The unveiling of Legion was handled poorly and DUST mercs were right to be concerned. We were not given vital information, so we were left to panic. Maybe we wouldn't have flipped out if CCP had been more open in the first place. That's exactly what we're calling for now. We want more communication.

You would rather do absolutely nothing? Look where that has gotten us so far. At least we're being proactive. This won't be our only strike. We NEED CCP to notice us. We are driven to this drastic action BY CCP.

Going to bed now, will add additional names to the list tomorrow. I will be contacting all CEOs and alliances tomorrow, encouraging them to spread the word of this boycott. You all need to take a proactive stance by spreading the word in game to as many people as possible. Talk to your CEOs. Spam them until they send corp mails ordering strike action. Tell everyone. Spam it in every channel. DUST 514 is going on strike.

I plan on getting on EVE and spamming in the DUST alliance chat on that day for people to get offline.
I have also already contacted a couple of other alliance leaders who deal with a lot of Dust players and sent them this thread.

Meh, put me down. You could technically say I've been on 'strike' since the end of the last event playing Diablo 3 on ps4 w/ my girlfriend. Can't really say if it'll have an impact, but I won't be playing anyway so....
Also, scheduling a strike would be far more effective if you do so for an entire event and have a following already prepared to do so when it's announced. If you get enough people to strike that almost no-one can get the rewards then you might just get some attention.

I have been playing a lot of warframe lately, and it reminds me so much of DUST. Not in the way it plays, but in that it's time investing, doesn't explain a damn thing and penalizes you for not not doing your homework early on before making choices. I never played it on PC, but it's doing relatively well on ps4 and just had a recent content update, with balance passes and add ons. I just started playing this past week, but it has me upset about Dust a bit. Anecdotes aside, I understand what this strike is all about, CCP has been stonewalling the players with NDA and crypticisms for as long as I have been playing, which is almost as long as possible.
There is something about this game that could really help it take off, and maybe take off in a big way if its parent company would stop stringing the community around on important issuss such as the future of the game, if there even is a future...and the application of the countless investment of its playerbase. We really could all work together to get what we want from this game, but like the core mechanical aspects kf the game engine, the core principles of communication are broken.
TLDR -sign me up.

Did you know that spending on pc in long run is cheaper with more output then buying medium-end consoles every few years?
Also consider that you will have better experience with PC while ps4 graphics are getting outdated. But hey they have exclusives which is totally worth extra 200 every few years... never.

Having 0.1% of the player base sit out for a day will be pointless. You need way more people and a much longer strike time.

Consider that one alliance mail ordering strike action has already been sent out to Evil Syndicate Alliance., who have over 1000 members.
Consider that another mail will be sent out to RUST514 today. RUST514 have over 3000 members.
I think that's a little over 0.1% of the player base, don't you?

I really wanted to yell nay sayer at you but then you got all logical and common sensical and what not.
Ultimately tho a strike has the potential to push many players away permanently cause declines in revenues forcing CCP to make a move if they want to remain profitable.
Will a single day strike cause this mysterious domino effect? Nope.
Will CCP worry about the same thing happening a couple more times with growing intensity as the player base naturally shrinks on top of that? I would guess so but there's no blue tag on my pic so think for yourself there.

this around an event or a holiday break? Doesn't it make more sense to do it doing those

Fallout 4 was just released.
Star wars battle front is coming on the 17th.
Many other games on next gen are going strong and pulling players away. The timing is meant to build in with the natural loss of players which is already starting and will only grow as more people grab up black friday deals on PS4s and run away as well.
I have already jumped to PS4 but still come back to Dust every day for a couple of battles and a PC here and there. I know personally that leading up to the holiday sales there are tons of players who plan on making the move as sales happen.

By this logic here the game should have already felt a nice decline when other big title games came out like destiny or planet side 2. People will go and play those games and then be back in a few weeks. Fallout 4 is a single player game it can not offer the same kind of game play as dust can. Star wars battle front might be a nice contender but as of late most star wars games have been **** so I will believe it's good after real people have had time to review it. I don't think this is going to have any real affect based off of what has been listed here.

I've played 4 games in 2 months. Currently playing AOE HD and Destiny from time to time, and have easily avoided dust.
The game is aging and dying. It NEEDS a port to another system with updated hardware. The devs have already said that you basically need an SSD to get any considerable frames out of it.
And those other games have already killed it for many people. There are a ton of vets I've known that don't even touch this game anymore. They have moved away to bigger and better things.
Dust 514 could have been something special and at one point I very much enjoyed it. But from the few games I've played it's rather obvious that the games getting worse before it gets any better. It aimed way above the PS3's capabilities and will suffer for that.
I think all people really want is conformation their game will continue. And I wouldn't mind it either. I still follow the latest news and prowl the forums but the game play has become stagnant. I can only do the exact same repetitive motions so many times before I get bored and move along. |

I can't remember the last time I played a game. But I remember being in love with Dust 514. I used to do fan art, plan new fittings, and work out skill bonuses all the time. My friends all thought I was weird. lol. But I think they've gotten used to me being a gamer so they don't bother me about it.
But not anymore. My sister bought an Xbox1 so I've been playing Halo instead. I think Dust 514 is better, with only Big Team battles coming close to Dust 514's experience, but, well, I haven't really found a reason to go back to Dust 514 yet. I almost did with the last event, but I run CalLogi and I knew I would never get anywhere close to the kills needed....

It is quite simple.
A move off of the PS3 was announced and then later went vaporware status.
The PS3 is constantly scapegoated for the bad start we got on UE3 and for reduced developer resources.
We have stewed in the same "update" pattern for nearly the entire life of this game. It is no stretch of the imagination to say that 1.3 will primary involve more skins, a few more items able to be traded, more "balancing" weapons, a few tweaks to some suits, and if some miracle occurs maybe we get some different color vehicles. This is not progress and is really just more backwards than forwards. This is not Rattati or CPM's fault. This is CCP's fault and maybe even some fault on Rouge tho none of us have a clue on that. The simple fact is Dust has been dumped on by CCP for almost 2 years now and they seem to be quite happy with allowing us to run in circles why they farm all the cash they can out of us and stay silent to allow some hope to fuel that cash.
Enough is enough.
If you want CCP to stop enabling ******* behavior then you should be the last one to login on that day. Their silence only further fuels rumor mongering and asinine debates based on nothing but theory.

That boycott has been going on for a long time for a lot of people. I for one have not spent cash in a minimum of 4 months after being into 4 digits on money spent before that.
To be clear I have no problem with monetizing but I do have a problem with shrinking the developer team and then committing the majority of the remaining resources to only cash grabs and things that can play a dual role of performance and cash grabbing.

Guys, this isn't about whining and showing our lack of support. It's about the fact that if CCP doesnt want to tell us whether we should continue playing the game for a future, then we won't play now. Yes Arkena was right in that one strike wont have a huge splash.

Lol you got rid of the list of players because I pointed out who was inactive? Or do you really think not putting up your list of players is going to secure more players? Many more people would join if they knew who these "hundreds of players" are
right? Since they're all super active and will have an impact on game performance right?
This protest is a joke, you can't even believe in yourself, or your "fellow brothers," to actually make an impact on the game so you make it seem like your movement has clout when it doesn't, implying more than 50 people are participating lol.

The players who already left/quit being active/can't play because of broken systems or dont want to be PS3 is just that, a PS3, a lot of us who willfully quit did so because after months on the forums or conplaining about certain keys issues like extending NPE or lag(unfixable so no dinging here just saying), and lack of company( upper managment that actually has the port decision) discussion, hell even a simple we will take such under consideration but nothing is set in stone is very much saddening to read month after month. I quit because this game was takong up too much time ans to make a statement that I am no longer playing a game for a company that does not speak to its players. Why play if the game has no future? Why spend money if it has no future? Yes, you can say to have fun. But I cant do that if I know my days are numbered and my immortal clone is going to put to sleep due to some bollocked presentation a few years.
Legion was a great idea, but it went against everything that Dust stood for and was mentioned after months of silence that this all over again.
This protest is whatever we want it to be. Be it because of lack of company communication or because the things that we have been complaining about for years aren't fixed, etc. Yes, Dust is not Eve and does not have a team of people in the hundreds. However we are paying customers all the same and that puts us on equal terms with Eve Players. Eve is getting tens of update notes and trailers. I havent seen a Dust trailer since 2012. I haven't heard anything about where the game is going save 1.3, which I know NOTHING about. CCP says they wont state till it's absolutely done? Why state anything about Eve then thats still months away? What's that double standard all about?
This protest is people saying enough with the games. If you are farming us for money, then farm sheep like yourself who condone this behavior and who allow this company to so as they please. CCP is more than welcome to have their game, however we dont, nd won't play it. This first strike is to show we're serious.
This second one, probably for a longer period and during an event, to show that we won't news. Can the game if you're gonna can the game, or at least tell us that you will start thinking hard bout Dust's future, because the overwhelming majority want this to be ported. #PortDust514 isnt bout a stupid which vs what, its a message that we want the game elsewhere and we cant do that here and we are willing to pay if we KNOW that all our funds here are being put towards a port.
In conclusion, stop derailing the thread. Dries removed names for the same reason I wrote about during my quitting post: Too many people to write down. Anyone who is not going to protest knows who they are. A lot of support is from inactive people who are happy guys like Dreis are finally seeing what we saw long ago and soing something about it.

I quit because this game was takong up too much time ans to make a statement that I am no longer playing a game for a company that does not speak to its players. Why play if the game has no future? Why spend money if it has no future? Yes, you can say to have fun. But I cant do that if I know my days are numbered and my immortal clone is going to put to sleep due to some bollocked presentation a few years.
Legion was a great idea, but it went against everything that Dust stood for and was mentioned after months of silence that this all over again.
This protest is whatever we want it to be. Be it because of lack of company communication or because the things that we have been complaining about for years aren't fixed, etc. Yes, Dust is not Eve and does not have a team of people in the hundreds. However we are paying customers all the same and that puts us on equal terms with Eve Players. Eve is getting tens of update notes and trailers. I havent seen a Dust trailer since 2012. I haven't heard anything about where the game is going save 1.3, which I know NOTHING about. CCP says they wont state till it's absolutely done? Why state anything about Eve then thats still months away? What's that double standard all about?
This protest is people saying enough with the games. If you are farming us for money, then farm sheep like yourself who condone this behavior and who allow this company to so as they please. CCP is more than welcome to have their game, however we dont, nd won't play it. This first strike is to show we're serious.
This second one, probably for a longer period and during an event, to show that we won't news. Can the game if you're gonna can the game, or at least tell us that you will start thinking hard bout Dust's future, because the overwhelming majority want this to be ported. #PortDust514 isnt bout a stupid which vs what, its a message that we want the game elsewhere and we cant do that here and we are willing to pay if we KNOW that all our funds here are being put towards a port.
In conclusion, stop derailing the thread. Dries removed names for the same reason I wrote about during my quitting post: Too many people to write down. Anyone who is not going to protest knows who they are. A lot of support is from inactive people who are happy guys like Dreis are finally seeing what we saw long ago and soing something about it.
The forums has plenty of characters available for all players involved to be on the list, the reason he didn't post names is because he knows I'll expose how many actual players will have any affect in this farce. Inactive players don't have any right to say they're a part of any in game event, they don't play, they can't be bothered to play, they don't deserve anything.
I don't care about the motives behind the boycott, I care about the fact that the protest was done in a disingenuous fashion. I condone it because it doesn't affect me because I no longer spend money on the game, if you don't want to play then go somewhere because you're not needed here. It's a joke of a boycott because the players who claim to be a part of it don't play to begin with. Why would you take a group seriously that doesn't affect you because this won't have any affect on CCP's decision making.

There is no lack of communication, literally almost everything implemented since Rattati's been in charge has been suggested by forum warriors who generally don't play. What more do you want? When they have news, they give news, Rattati always asks for feedback, and he always delivers what the players want.

Yes, actually. Because comic relief is a good morale booster despite popular belief. The #PortDust514 movement might be over a serious topic but the methodology with which the movement is being performed is largely comedic in nature with various (sometimes poorly) photoshopped pictures that pay tribute to the developers in question. Rather than chastizing the developers for their hardships, the #PortDust514 movement embraces them.
In a way they are helping the game in a more effective and efficient manner than possible. And while it may be a bit of NDA-Breachy to say this (I'll risk it, it needs to be said) but there has been some laughs shared by the devs in regards to the content. Thusly, the CPM supports the movement.
The strike on the other hand may be done with good intentions but the methodology does more harm than good. Rather than playing the game despite it's faults and supporting the devs, the strike seems to aim at holding them responsible for something that is largely out of their control at the moment.

You know i do not like one thingy and that is when i trying to poit out issues of the game, like many times before and nothing.
What is hould do, tell me.
I do not want to be silent because i do not know if these issues already sent are in fixing.
Or if they are lost somewhere.

From my side of view i just want better communication with devs.
From better communication we will know what is "in work" and what is prepared for future.

The primary message i'm looking to communicate is this: my sole reason for continued participation in DUST is to show CCP support for bringing New Eden to the ground game in a meaningful way and with a quality product.
This has been a long haul, and for the majority of that time it's required an act of faith every time i decide to invest time in the forum or the game.
I think this is the case for most players.
A day off for reflection won't do any harm, and who knows, maybe it'll recharge the faith.
