While it's obvious that DUST has a lot of potential still, it does need a port to better hardware. The best answer would be PC, not to appease the elitist, entitled capsuleers (or pc players in general), but to ensure the longevity of the game by continued access to the best hardware available. PC is the platform DUST 514 deserves, but not the one it needs to be on. It needs to be on the PS4. The whole point of putting it on the ps3 was to bring the New Eden universe to a wider audience on the console platforms who would have otherwise not likely known about it. To turn back on that and port to pc would be a betrayal to those of us who stayed for the long run here on the ps3, and a slap in the face to those who only bought a Playstation to play dust, but would otherwise not use consoles.

Keeping an Eve account running to accrue SP could be very useful one day and it's only $15 a month. Of course, SP has diminishing returns so if the character is already a year old you are probably right in cancelling the sub.

Not really.
If more than a year of asking has produced nothing, if people(foolishly, IMO) still pumping money into a game that has effectively finished development hasn't convinced CCP to announce the port is in production, it is more likely that there isn't anything being worked on.
I think if CCP had something to show they would have, because it would spur the whales to spend more because the games permanence had been saved.
You seem to have easily forgotten about CCP's past here.
They have, in the past, shown what they would have in the hopes of getting interest started. They did it with World of Darkness but it got stuck in development limbo for 8 years before it was permanently shelved and $20 million in research and development down the drain. Even before that, they did it with Incarna with walking in stations for Eve Online players. All we got were small racial rooms like you see in your merc quarters with no clear exit other than going out to the balcony where our ships were waiting. That and there were a crap ton of bugs and people's hardware were reportedly crashing due to poor client optimization. Immediately after that, the "Greed is Good" letter got leaked, CCP mishandled the reaction with a response that seems to slap us all in the face with $1,000 jeans and $70 golden monocles back in 2011. Then came the still-fresh-in-our-minds Rouge Wedding back in 2014 with the announcement of Project Legion which eventually whose forum section became a ghost town for over a year now.
Three times.
Three times CCP shot itself in the foot every time they opened their mouths to show anything they have. Because of this, they developed a new policy of "don't say anything unless it is actually ready." This caused CCP to become strangely silent for long periods of time back when players got use to CCP saying anything at all.
This times, silence is something most of us now expect. But even then, CCP can only keep quiet for so long before people finally start losing their patience.

He is certain. My Eve Online account has been dormant for 138 days since its subscription lapsed. However, Gerald Sphinx is still training skill books with 20days 10 hours and 45minutes remaining on the queue and counting down still.

I actually had not seen the "Greed is Good" memos. After reading any of those how can a single person here really argue that Dust is going to leave PS3 a single day before it goes negative.
People need to stop spending money on this game like yesterday so that we have a chance of a port.
The only voice for a port is the voice of reason from money drying up.
More skins and 1% damage to keep Dust on PS3.

No it is not a catch 22 at all. CCP is not going to spend millions of dollars on making the switch when they can sit around here on PS3, spending little money on a skeleton crew and depart fools from their money at what seems to be a rapidly expanding pace.
In the memo about Incarna he says:
Quote:Currently we are seeing very predictable feedback on what we are doing. Having the perspective of having done this for a decade, I can tell you that this is one of the moments where we look at what our players do and less of what they say.
What exactly are we "doing" by sitting here pumping money into a dead console that we all say we want to get off of?
Obviously CCP is simply realizing that they are free to go crazy with the lines of thinking that went caused such an uprising in Incarna.
Why is it that no one is even willing to ***** about the fact that CCP is attempting to charge well over $1000 for the cool down on the warbarge just to get 1% more damage?
The only voice for a port is the voice of reason from money drying up.

One month till Fallout 4 btw. If CCP plans to do anything with a port, it will be an announcement during fanfest. At this rate Warlords 1.3 is likely to be the last major content update... or if we're lucky we'll see a Warlords 1.4 with the remainder of what's on the development Trello. If nothing happens during this next Fanfest, consider the project effectively shelved.

Through us a bone here CCP.
What must we do? Should we stop spending money on this game (But then I fear CCP would say, well there is not enough money to do a port)
Or do we continue to spend money and push for a next gen dust / port - showing CCP that there is money to be made but we really want that to contribute to something more than the last days of DUST on PS3?
This is the turning point, the rising of the tide.
