Its been a year or so now? There has been trolls, discussions and heated debates about the future of Dust 514. Will it go to PS4? Is Project Legion dead? Has CCP given up on Dust 514?
Lets examine this topic indepth....
Imagine for a moment, you wake up early in the morning. You roll over and sit up, hanging your legs off the bed and planting your feet firmly on the ground. Its Monday. You take a deep breathe and let loose a very heavy sigh. You know its time to go to work and deal with the Dust 514 community. You feel like this might just be the day you quit...but then you remember the mortgage payment is due next Thursday and you are on your feet before you know it.
You get dressed, eat breakfast, brush teeth and check out the news or your Clash of Clans game and then you're off. You dread going to work because no matter what you do, no one is ever happy. You think about your day talking with fellow CCP employees, reading the newest batch of B.S. on the forums and the endless streams of complaints. You really do or did at one point, want to make this game amazing but you're only one man and you can only take so much.
LAG! DROPLINKS IN WALL! AV UNDERPOWERED!
You stumble in, say hello to your coworkers and log on to get to work and you deal with the mercilessly pathetic, abhorrent, negative and despicable community that is Dust 514's remaining player base.
Imagine if you had to deal with you each day.....would you want to port Dust 514?
Would you want to design a brand new version for the masses to flock too and after all that work, still have to deal with you?
Would you want to continue your crusade and push your bosses and beg them for a port telling them it will be the best idea ever because 3,000 people (or so) say it would be?
Probably not.
Its my opinion there is no talk to a port because we don't deserve the port and we don't deserve to know. Why would CCP reward us with such information when all that goes on here is negativity and just flat out mean people acting like douchebags because they're protected by their keyboards?
I'm just saying....food for thought.

Are these paying customers? Do I receive a pay check on the 15th and last day of every month? Is that pay check enough for me to support my family?
Oh then yeah, I would continue to work on Dust 514 and push for a port to a newer, easier to work on platform. Moving this game to PC/PS4 would open it up to a larger audience and thus allow it to earn more money. And when this game, that I have worked on for so long, finally begins making big bucks who will my company look to? Who will they blame the success on?
Me.
That's right. I put up with the minority of whiny players. I carved spreadsheets into my arms. I came in early and left work late. Me. I did that.
And **** you for suggesting that angry customers might deter me from my goal. My customers deserve a quality product and they cannot have that on the PS3. I want the best for my customers.

Honestly, it sounds like you assume everyone on Rattati's team is a thin-skinned noodle creature. Adults can take criticism and use it as a form of feedback.

And I don't mean to imply that our general negativity is without consequence. I'm sure it would annoy anyone. My point is that while our collective "toxicity" might be sufficient to break the will of a weakling, it is likely not sufficient to break the will of a guy like Rattati, who has a vision and the wherewithal to see that vision realized.

The community has become toxic due to absolute silence and much of the community making their way off to PS4. It also remains toxic because on average newbies fail to even make it a few matches past the academy due to the terrible NPE and matchmaking being in shambles because there is no incentive to win at all. While I 100% agree that this community has reached a point where septicemia does not even begin to describe it one must also look at who allowed those toxins to reach such a critical mass through poor management.
There is no talk on a port because CCP is happily sucking up money from players who choose to stick to a dead platform. Being able to turn a profit off of a skeleton crew who only gets half ass support from the company is something no one would want to readily give up especially if it meant reinvesting millions of dollars to gamble on what that leap would end up looking like.
If you want a port toss your PS3 out in the road and send pictures of that as well as your shiny new PS4 to CCP and tell them to come get your money. A company is by nature capitalistic meaning that the only real vote we as consumers get to cast is dollars. Unfortunately right now everyone is operating on the notion that spending money on Dust is a vote for a port when in reality every dollar spent is a vote to stay right here so that you can consistently give them more money.

I understand where you are coming from, but that is an extremely hard attitude to keep up.
Most people on the forums have been here for at least the past year, crying and bitching about this and that, I should be op and they should not, My weapon should be good theirs should not, and all the other issues that arise.
You must have some serious dedication to keep that attitude.
And I believe that our Devs do.
I am not sure CCP sees it, but our dust devs have to be some of the most tolerant hardworking people out there, to put up with the **** that half the community posts. and continue still to respond, and take feedback even though we are misleading bastards.
The issue is making CCP, not our devs, see that if we port dust to next gen, or to PC, it will be profitable.
Personally I think they could make it work, you just have to find the right case to throw to the higher ups. And that case can be very hard to find.
Our developers, already know how involved the community is, just look a the CPM, it is literally a nigh uninterrupted line directly to CCP for us, the community to use, and share ideas.
Look at biomassed, they have a goddamn podcast that interacts with the players.
The only question is not will we get a port, rather; when will CCP realise for dust to be as profitable as it can be, that it needs one.
Cleaning up the mess everyone leaves behind :)

This.
I'd add: you are making a game. And by definition it's way better (and way harder tho) than pushing three buttons and then go home. You can broadcast feelings, personal experiences, happiness, sadness, sorrow through a videogame. Your limit is only your hardware and your own imagination (given that you have all the other skills/manpower needed).
Moreover you are working on a game that anyone would agree has "huge potential". But this huge potential is not reachable on a ps3, it's clear. Would I keep following my dream of being the next big name in videogame industry for making the ultimate FPS experience even if my current community is bad and toxic? Hell yes, this is also what that toxic community wants.

I would just like to point out that a lot of the current anger and frustration stems from residual Rouge Wedding drama, in which we were(console bound players) abandoned by the company who we had dealt with for years and who had stated a 10 year plan.
I would like to point out that people are angry that although the game is insanely balanced atm, servers are terrible and matches still very glitchy so they cant even play the balanced game...
I would like to point out that some people are angry that although they post feedback, they get negative responses primarily because most of us playing for years have seen the same post 2000 ways and the issue remains. Invisible swarms? Still around. Loading into matches ending? Yup, just did. Stuck on terrain? Yup. Tanks falling theough maps? Last I checked map yes.
I would like to point out that people want to continue to play this game, but it is very hard to justify spending my money that could towards my brother, sister, bills, food, hell other games when compared to this game that might not be getting any future. I never bought Aurum so I could have proto gear. I bought it because I believed in this game. That was it. I felt my money was going towards the next expansion, that my work had a personaly hand in bringing enjoyment to everyone here. I don't feel thst way anymore. I want to hear from Rouge. Honestly if we aren't getting a port to PS4, tell us why. I'll play this game on PS3 till the port is complete. Otherwise...well that's another customer you just lost. Thanks for the memories, maybe I can squeeze out a few more.
I would like to point out that we as a community are just as tired as we are angry. And not angry, just disappointed.

You are assuming that corporations work in a perfect world where they all are genuinely nice and courteous. If that were the case the suicide rate would be a lot higher. Sarcasm and trolling customers is what more than half of the population of people working in corporations is all about.

I've never seen a gaming forum where there are no random people who drop whine threads and disappear. I've also never seen a game forum where there wasn't a countercultural argument about how whiny and bad the community is.
Fact of the matter is there's always a very clear division between people who whine once or twice and never contribute anything useful and those that don't. If you can't ignore the first class of people you probably shouldn't be on a gaming forum in the first place.
Dust's forums are completely unexceptional amongst gaming forums. Same proportion of whiners as always.

Each week i've logged in i see less and less people in my chat channels, less people on my PS3 friends list and more on my PS4 friendlist playing the likes of Destiny and Planetside, gotten to the point i barely even play myself. i'm hardly even bothered about continual login. one of my PS3's died after 8yrs the other week and the one i used as a media player in my bedroom has been moved to living room seeing as the PS4 is shocking as a media player and i'm just generally losing interest in DUST. Its the same players in the same matches, you know from the first game what the rest of the evening is gonna be like and i honestly just cba to be on a losing team against a full block of try hards all evening so i'll just shut off and watch tv or play a diff game, i can't even be ar**d to afk Something needs to happen soon, prefferebly a PC port to encourage the vast playerbase of the EVE players to try Legion/DUST PC, special exclusive items and perhaps a link to EVE sub boosts your LEgion/DUST account so they can catch up with the rest of us, keep all our stats and assets and fight the game in a far prettier environment with a hopefully bigger playerbase
Please fix my C-II hitpoints!!

He gets to troll whinny players who complain about the game and become a god-like figure to those who are impressed and grateful for the work he is doing.
Idk that's just my opinion. Spot on I have one question and one question only
