Oh then yeah, I would continue to work on Dust 514 and push for a port to a newer, easier to work on platform. Moving this game to PC/PS4 would open it up to a larger audience and thus allow it to earn more money. And when this game, that I have worked on for so long, finally begins making big bucks who will my company look to? Who will they blame the success on?

That's right. I put up with the minority of whiny players. I carved spreadsheets into my arms. I came in early and left work late. Me. I did that.
And **** you for suggesting that angry customers might deter me from my goal. My customers deserve a quality product and they cannot have that on the PS3. I want the best for my customers.

I'd add: you are making a game. And by definition it's way better (and way harder tho) than pushing three buttons and then go home. You can broadcast feelings, personal experiences, happiness, sadness, sorrow through a videogame. Your limit is only your hardware and your own imagination (given that you have all the other skills/manpower needed).
Moreover you are working on a game that anyone would agree has "huge potential". But this huge potential is not reachable on a ps3, it's clear.
Would I keep following my dream of being the next big name in videogame industry for making the ultimate FPS experience even if my current community is bad and toxic?
Hell yes, this is also what that toxic community wants.

Because for whatever reason, and I refuse to speculate because I have no godsamn clue why this is, they have to keep the chinese players on a separate shard from Tranquility.

Any internet website/application must be approved by chinese government in order to be accessible and as far as I know, people in China can't actually play online games on the same server as "the rest of the world minus North Korea".
For example you officially can't connect to Google
