Redline snipers just get hunted for sport and the pleasure of destroying thales. The redline is for risk aversion and I will forever dismiss any claim to "skill" by anyone who spends most of their time there.

But if you're continually geting rekt because the other team outnumbers you? Blame the matchmaking tier.

EDIT: Fifth match, this is how it was when I joined. Didn't get hardly jack for rewards because I couldn't find anything to kill in what little time I had.. Can't even AFK the match maker screws me so badly!

EDIT: Match six, lost again for a total of 5/6 matches lost in two hours time. Here's the gallery showing the progression where I actually played because you guys kept whining buuuut didn't make a damn bit of difference. Maybe I should 'git gud'? Right?

A better way to say it would be the top tier is starved for enough players. The bracket I'm in performs beautifully.

You are just part of the problem. LOL. The matchmaker thinks your good, if you are paired up against other good players it's a compliment lol. According to you though, the matchmaker is wrong, and you are truly bad.

I apparently waited so long (got scotty'd for duration twice) that it threw me into a lower tier bracket.

Results were about the same because the game still thinks I'm some kind of god, apparently.

Maybe because I only had two hours to play the game before I have to get ready for work and I at least want to enjoy them or not waste my [REDACTED] time.

That last match was the final straw for me. Five guys against an entire team and I'm somehow expected to actually fight? To actually compete against that? But if I AFK it's Shameful?

No. AFKing isn't "risk-averse" it's not being an idiot and putting yourself in a stupid situation when you're just going to lose anyway. I actually respect players who AFK in those kind of matches more than people who just throw themselves at the enemy desperately hoping to somehow turn it around in some 300-esque BS because they're so terrified of how the community views AFKing.

To be absolutely certain, we have taken the steps to correlate this value with a number of skill ratios, such as KDR (Kill Death Ratio) and WP/D (War Points per Death Ratio), and finally W/L (Win Loss Ratio) and are certain of the systemGÇÖs merit.

So DUST is still bad then? Good, good.

Just wanting to point this point, since we now have a devblog discussing matchmaking improvements.


KDR - Can be increased to absurd levels by redline sniping.
WP/D - Keeping your death count low by avoiding combat via sniping would also inflate this ratio...
W/L - In this post you state that you ran squads with RnD/Negative Feedback folks which may have upped this ratio too. By sniping the ratio may have leveled out. For argument sake, I'll pretend you are "average" in this particular ratio.

That's 2 out of 3 indicators of player skill being artificially increased.

Your mu score is controlled by your actions. Perhaps one of the reasons some players are experiencing issues with the matchmaking improvements while others are not is due to their predilection for low risk, high reward playstyles.

If that is the case, then AFK'ing will not solve your problem, Aeon. It might lower your W/L ratio, but your KDR and WP/D will stay the same.

You will have to fit a non-sniper rifle and get into the fight. Pick up some newer players and squad with them. Teach them what you know and be 100% ready to die a bunch. Initially the matches may be stomps, but as your mu score adjusts itself you will be put into more and more balanced matches.

That is my attempt at not-in-any-way-trolling-completely-sincere advice. Good luck and godspeed.

I dont personally get too many games that are nearly over that's not to say that they dont still happen because they do. If you keep getting a lot of nearly done game then that IS a big problem that CCP should definitely look into.

Aeon mate this is how matches have been for me playing solo for a lot longer than just this last matchmaker hotfix.

The way I see it is, if my team is really crappy, it means I will knock the WP figure up nice and high and bag a lot of isk n SP. (I lose more isk to achieve that however..... would this be your experience too?)

By the way man, next time your online hit me up, I will run some squads so you can see the kind of matches I get into on the EU servers. Some of them can be absolutely great fun brawlfests, others are massive stomps.

Again, watch my youtube videos. Watch my stream for once in your life. Read something I post other then those cherry picked threads. Talk to people who I roll with. They'll tell you a completely different story and maybe, just maybe, you can look at this objectively.

It's times like these when I wonder if the matchmaking is broken or if our playerbase are a bunch of risk averse pansies...

Play your matches, lose and yeah maybe even get stomped. Your mu score will adjust accordingly and place you in matches with players more your skill level. There's no shame in it.

There is shame in AFK'ing though. Why play the game at all? Just quit and be done with it.

I am about as anti the new matchmaking system as it gets, and suffer from many of the same problems you do. And while I've made posts bitching about it I didn't even bother reading past the title and instantly assumed that you're just a life-long AFK scrub lord.

EDIT: About five and a half hours later I gave it another go and this was the result: http://postimg.org/gallery/16daq2hhu/ I was Scotty'd twice for duration queuing for just Skirmish and after ten minutes it threw me into this Dom match, presumably in a lower Tier bracket for waiting so long, and the result was largely the same despite my actually trying.

Still think it's my fault guys? Still trolling? Kay.
