Eh, Kali Tac Snipers are very relevant, not so much the others, put it on a fast tanked Cal Scout and you can do hell in Dom if you keep moving due to that sexy settle time and clip size, allows you to suppress and sweep away pockets of people camping the usual dom spots.
Twenty-some kills a match seems satisfying and effective. *shrugs*. But what do I know.

You don't think that they might need to do something about the marker indicator and help it to stand out when and while targeting ?
Too many times it get's lost in backgrounds and yes I understand the purpose of the red highlights around the scope while targeting but too many times that dot gets lost from blending in .
It needs to be more distinctive and defined , it would help in lining up targets better .
Just asking IWS .

If they would increase TTK , it wouldn't be noticeable but it seems like there trying to decrease it . Weapons are a problem in this game and seem to not get the attention deserved . Take the PR for instance and how it should be the CQC king but gets out DPS by the CR and ARR . Some of the pistols have high headshot bonuses which help them to headshot with the slightest amount of aiming if at all . I hate how someone can strafe like a trot from side to side and still be 80 - 90 % accurate in their firing with 0 drop off and that just doesn't add up when quick lateral movement and hip-fire is more accurate then ADSing for the most part and with the low TTK one can't afford to ADS in most instances with the shoddy hit detection that works better when it shouldn't in cases like such and doesn't work at all when one can be close and firing on an opponent at times .

No, sniping is still point'n'click with dumbest of dumb sway mechanics. Simply wait crouched fixed x seconds until your gun is 100% stable, no matter how fast aim changes you make. And on top of that, when round leaves yes there is the sway but the crosshairs return to 100% same location. Surely we can not hope for, before fixing those, to have touch-ups like activating limited 'focus time' for increased stability.
Up on that list I really hate all those 100%s.
Yes, Sniper Rifles got a great balancing run with all of them having their uses (even though charge is somewhat an odd boy). The ranges are better for gameplay, especially considering the weak redline game design and redline map desing. And for the first time: combat sniping is viable, previously it was not.
Now unleash that barrage of hate posts! I bet I angered both sniper-lovers and sniper-haters.
PS: I actually came back to sniping after a long long break

I still snipe... Every match... Still the only Active Sniper out there that I know of... Been Using my Iskukone lately to save ISK, but still loving it. I don't even run damage mods. The Ishukone's best ability IMO is 1 hot to the body and followup to the face will drop 90% of targets on the field. I highly roccomend you come back and snipe. Just get used to it, and you will love it in a week or so.

So when the snipers suggested higher zoom fidelity, CCP and the CPM said (paraphrasing) "Thales Scope was OP" and that snipers are bias, suggesting that the scope was OP instead of the weapon which was already extremely powerful in it's own right. But when someone else says it, you guys seriously consider it and say that increasing zoom is fine.
Whatever. I'm just glad -SOMEONE- talked some logic and reason to you guys. I'll just pay some random to say it for me on the forums next time; would be faster.
Anyway, you're going to be hard pressed to find a hard counter to high zoom-scopes because each sniper rifle has a different range and therefore is going to have a different zoom level. Tactical Snipers have a lower zoom than Vanilla/Charged. There's no point in having the same level zoom if their ranges are different and your only counter to high zoom level rifles are equal or greater zoom levels. That's just something you're going to have to factor in, less they be broken.
EDIT: Although, one could argue that higher zoom levels inhibit the ability to engage closer range targets. If your zoom level is designed to have a target fill up the screen at 300m, you'd be hard pressed to land a headshot on a moving target at 150m.
Other than that all I can say is that we seriously need to consider how to combat redline snipers in a different and more intuitive way considering that the range changes did nothing more than empower them.

This. We need this so freaggin badly and I've proposed something similar, only it was in the form of equipment that no-one seemed to be able to wrap their head around. This proposal is far more simplified and useful. Everyone constantly complains about Snipers not supporting team-play and something like this would do exactly that considering that it's basically a target painter, something snipers have been asking for for a long time.

I like this idea, as long as it does't give people more incentive to just lurk in the redline and paint targets all match.

tactical is fine, but afaik its range is sub par compared to the ishukone. Sway is not a problem once you skill up sniper rifles (unless you aren't crouching).
The call was for feedback on how to possibly implement higher zoom on sniper rifles. I gave 2isk about a larger clip longer range higher zoom variant, notably a rifle that could be used as an anti-sniper platform, but also something which would help round out the sniper rifle line up.
in my opinion, range is fine atm, but a higher zoom/longer range variant would be nice (with the lower dps being a balancing factor)
just an idea...

How about tracking? Hitting your target lights him up on the tacnet for 7 seconds and rewards snipers with +35 for a kill assist if a friendly player kills him. That's up from the standard +25 normal kill assists net. Would add an entire new dimension to snipers asides from just being annoying.
Spotting is actually one of my favorite mechanics of all time.
So much time in Battlefield spend 150m away from an objective with a Bipod, MAV, and a DMR. Just calling out targets and taking shots when I saw them.

Just got done with a Dom match where Chestburito or whatever that corps called, they camped a roof sniping the whole game. They had glorious K/D ratio, but never touched the objective. Snipers are doing ok, trust me.

I for one would not mind it as it will tell other players of a wounded prey to go finish off.
Maybe have an 'explosive tracking' variant that tags nearby people of the impact area.
But like I said technical exploration would likely must be done first in order to check feasibility.

Well the thing is we brought in the sniper to be more suitable for the current fields of play presented; however the terms of how small hostile targets are at the expected ranges to be shot at in comparison to other games; ours is a bit too low for it to be useful for the more precise shooting demanded by new sniper rifle slants in body to headshot damages. Bringing the zoom up would also lower the difficulty of some players trying to aim with it at longer distances. The charge and standard would be affected the tactical however seems very spot on for the kind of shooting it does and I am afraid to see it go up or down as it may hurt its current effectiveness.

Additional zoom buffs will honestly just be teasing snipers at best as the target will appear large enough to hit but the they will be at 451m this was the same problem experienced by the Thales where you could clearly see a target 700 m away but could not hit them. Bringing up the zoom would also hurt the Std and Charge variant at the closer ranges where you can actually hit your target.... idk about you but I would like my zoom to be better tailored to the ranges I'm effective at, than to the ones where i can't actually hit my target..
btw IMHO the roles of the sniper variants should be changed.... while the Tac and Std variants are performing rather well the charge is falling behind Its really hard to get head-shots with it ,and the executioner role is better filled by the Std variant...

The headshot multiplier is great, but it is damn near impossible to line up a headshot on a moving target. If a target's wiggling at longish range, I'll miss him 3 out of 5 times aiming center mass. Aim for the head and I'll miss 5 for 5. It seems to be a total crapshoot; headshots on a moving target are more about chance than skill or effort.
So aim for the body, right?
If it's a Scout you're shooting at, you hit him once then he begins to evade. With a little luck, you'll hit him again and get the kill before he reaches cover. But if it is anything else, you have to hit him again and again and often again and again. This isn't so bad a requirement with the Tac SR, but the Ishukone fires too dang slow and kicks too dang hard for a weapon which requires multiple, consecutive shots to kill.
Not sure what to suggest.
Adding inertia on directional change would help with target tracking and the "crapshoot" aspect. Perhaps better zoom fidelity, reduced sway, and/or an ever-so-slightly faster rate of fire?
Shoot scout with yes.
