So I have two fits I mostly use these days, one which is proto, one which isn't. Here they are;
Non-Proto Fit
'Dragonfly' Scout
Rail Rifle Breach Scrambler Pistol Nanite Injector Stable Drop Uplink Enhanced Shield Extender Enhanced Ferroscale Plates Enhanced Kinetic Catalyzer Basic Cardiac Regulator
Proto Fit
Republic Assault mk.0
Republic Boundless Specialist Combat Rifle Republic Six Kin Submachine Gun Stable Drop Uplink 2 x Republic Complex Shield Extender Republic Complex Shield Energizer Enhanced Light Damage Modifier Basic Cardiac Regulator Enhanced Kinetic Catalyzer 2 x Republic Complex Shield Regulator
Now, the weird thing is, out of those two, I do MUCH better with the non-proto fit, which only has 335eHP, as opposed to the proto fit's 585eHP. It just goes to show that using Proto gear will not make you invincible, and that you're not getting stomped because someone's using proto gear. It comes down to their teamwork, and how your team works together to combat them.
I don't even think Proto-stomping should be a term for it. I've seen plenty of people say that they'd still stomp in mlt gear.
Thoughts?

Thoughts? It's playstyle. Proto is used with squads and mics. They tell each other every thing, and use general strategies like logi and heavy. They also have some scouts to find positions. It's not about proto. It's the squad. And the squad uses proto to be the most effective.

and if you come up against 6 guys all runnign full proto it doens't matter which you run cos they'll tram straight though it. the thing that leads to stomps is the full squads. its a simple idea
2 heavy 3 logi 1 cal scout with range amps
(or swap logi/heavy round)
the scout picks up any uplinks and the squad farms them and jus tmoves round and round farming uplinks. until smart deploy is sorted then people will get stomped because it takes about 30 clones for smart deploy to think "oh hey s**t. my guys are getting f**ked the hell up if i drop them there, i better not do that no more"
someone many moons ago came up with an idea that teh spawn map is divided into 4x4 grid. you pick a grid to spawn in and it drops you somewhere in that square. if you dont have scanners and drop in on reds thats your own dumb fault. as it stands smart deploy is too stupid to prevent the uplink farm stomps

Proto gear is just the excuse for people that want something to whine about instead of squading up and finding ways to win.

Trying to turn an assault into a scout suit, yes it going to get wrecked. I don't know how far you've specced into gal scout but its dampen bonus will keep itt off the tacnet. That min assualt its just waving a giant red chevron over its head saying 'shoot me!!".

People stomping in militia gear in pubs these days, I'd really like to see.
I don't think it's the fact that people have prototype suits, but more that you get 5 or more people running proto AND travelling in a group. Attacking one flares the attention of the entire group, which fires upon a player with prototype weapons.
Again, no squad public matches.. |

If they do this they should remove skirmish as a public gamemode as there is no reason or purpose for a skirmish if it's all solo players.

to be fair a player should be able to play solo if wanted. if the match making was working as CCP intended with the MU then there wouldn't be such a problem, solo players would be with solo players. the problem with the matchmaking system probably isn't the system itself but the fact there is such little pool of players that you can't help but 'break the rules' and incorrectly match players because there simply isn't any other choice.
and the reason we have such little player pool is because it took so long for decent match making to com ein that any new player was stomped through the floor so hard they just left the game. in the six months i've known 10 players that have just left because they're fed up of the try hards proto stomping all evening and for them its simply not a fun game so they leave to play an easier game

Correct, a player should be able to play solo. But said player should be able to realize that they are at a disadvantage, not because of gear, but because they are solo going against people working together.

Proto has nothing to do with it. You can put a single player into a ambush against an entire corp of Nyain San and if that player is smart, he'll win. Or I should say, if that player has any battle logistics. All that one player has to do is kill one guy and hide the rest of the match. I respect Nyain San, because they play together as a team. That's all it is guys. That's all you have to do. You can't expect to win by having 6 assault guys in your squad running proto, spread out across the map. Get some logi's and heavies and stick together and use common sense. This guy I squaded with yesterday threw the biggest fit over running ambush. He ran into the "blob" and died. Then left my squad and battle, but not before he said this, "I'm going to leave your squad if you keep putting us into ambush. I hate these proto stomping *ssholes. They use modded controllers dude. wtf." My response, "Maybe, or maybe you stupid for running head on into 8 guys, who do you think you are Kalante? Regnum? lol" Then he left.
I'm a try-hard, because half my team sits in the MCC.

This is why I want the game to push people to squad. Playing with others should over time help them play better. It would take a single match and a dude would find out that crouching doesn't help (aside from sniping and HMG) and he wouldn't look so stupid.

Which is precisely why I suggest added Skirmish/Ambush modes where there are no squads. What problem are you seeing with this? People shouldn't have to search for a squad to join every time they play a match, lest they be stomped in battle.
Which, they probably still would be beaten down if their opponents were 2 queue synced squads. |

Proto gear and the skill bonuses that allow a player to use them act as a force-multiplier that prevents your average blueberry from coming even close to matching them in battle. I always know if I'm up against gold crosses because they can stack enough hp to survive the damage I dish out to bunny hop, take cover, regen and then wiggle-waggle back out in the open and take me down. Blueberries in std fits will just melt immediately. The difference in suit quality is astounding to be honest. Short of blapping them with forge guns and plc's, proto stomp squads are untouchable.

Now, the weird thing is, out of those two, I do MUCH better with the non-proto fit, which only has 335eHP, as opposed to the proto fit's 585eHP. I don't even think Proto-stomping should be a term for it. I've seen plenty of people say that they'd still stomp in mlt gear.

Prototype gear is not THE reason people get stomped in pubs, but it is certainly A reason.
I dont understand the effort to downplay prototype gear in team imbalances. Proto gear is objectively mathematically better than non-prototype gear. If 6 people of equal skill fight another 6 people, the side wearing higher tier gear will win most of the time.
New players should not have to fight against prototype gear, its just one more layer of imbalance that screws over people who are having a hard time to begin with. Im not sure why people keep trying to imply that prototype gear, which can give you 3x or more health than starter fits in addition to much more damage/speed/regen/etc, is something that doesnt matter. Its just insane.
This isnt even some unsolvable problem that we need to make drastic changes to fix. All we need is a battle type limited to standard only gear. This would give new players a sandbox to play in without having to worry about their many untimely deaths being due to a drastic gear advantage. Boom. Problem ******* solved, thank me later. |

Each member of a person signed ups squad also has to run militia fits as well. many of the guys in here are from the loud mouth corps and alliance so prove the community wrong, earn a butt ton of isk and have a little fun and perhaps show newbies the game can be fun when a*shats arn't stomping them into the ground with superior gear. Thor is pretty good with corp management, if he;d be up for creating a channel and organizing something between general tso's too it'd be awesome. i knwo some guys in opposing corps and alliance and we'll get together in one big a*s militia chat channel and perhaps meet some new friends HELL YES! Count me in!
Only way I see this backfiring is that the loud mouthed big corp proto runners may just see this as an opportunity to mow us all down like grass...but hey, all kinds of fun to be had!

Good players will be good regardless of gear. I've seen some shits in PRO gear that I DESTROYED in my Quafe Assault, fully militia except for the rifle and the suit.
If they are destroying you HARD in PRO gear, most likely they will destroy you hard in militia gear too, just slightly less so.
