Edau Skir2 wrote:So I have two fits I mostly use these days, one which is proto, one which isn't. Here they are;
Non-Proto Fit
'Dragonfly' Scout
Rail Rifle Breach Scrambler Pistol Nanite Injector Stable Drop Uplink Enhanced Shield Extender Enhanced Ferroscale Plates Enhanced Kinetic Catalyzer Basic Cardiac Regulator
Proto Fit
Republic Assault mk.0
Republic Boundless Specialist Combat Rifle Republic Six Kin Submachine Gun Stable Drop Uplink 2 x Republic Complex Shield Extender Republic Complex Shield Energizer Enhanced Light Damage Modifier Basic Cardiac Regulator Enhanced Kinetic Catalyzer 2 x Republic Complex Shield Regulator
Now, the weird thing is, out of those two, I do MUCH better with the non-proto fit, which only has 335eHP, as opposed to the proto fit's 585eHP. It just goes to show that using Proto gear will not make you invincible, and that you're not getting stomped because someone's using proto gear. It comes down to their teamwork, and how your team works together to combat them.
I don't even think Proto-stomping should be a term for it. I've seen plenty of people say that they'd still stomp in mlt gear.
Thoughts?
Proto gear is just the excuse for people that want something to whine about instead of squading up and finding ways to win.

When I play with good players you literally never hear them say, "hey that guy is using proto".

I don't think it's the fact that people have prototype suits, but more that you get 5 or more people running proto and travelling in a group. Attacking one flares the attention of the entire group, which fires upon a player with prototype weapons.
Again, no squad public matches..
So people that want to squad would do what? PC and FW?
If they do this they should remove skirmish as a public gamemode as there is no reason or purpose for a skirmish if it's all solo players.

The last week I've run a lot of proto when I do get to play. But normally I don't run it until it's clear that we don't have a lot of help from our team and work needs to be done.

If they do this they should remove skirmish as a public gamemode as there is no reason or purpose for a skirmish if it's all solo players. People that wanted squads could run regular public matches, people who don't want squads could run squad free public matches. Skirmish would work just fine without running squads if they team members knew what they were doing. The point of having no squad public matches as an extra option is to prevent stomping.
Why not just address the fact that the problem is with people choosing to deploy over and over again solo in a game geared towards squad and team play?

Why not just address the fact that the problem is with people choosing to deploy over and over again solo in a game geared towards squad and team play? to be fair a player should be able to play solo if wanted. if the match making was working as CCP intended with the MU then there wouldn't be such a problem, solo players would be with solo players. the problem with the matchmaking system probably isn't the system itself but the fact there is such little pool of players that you can't help but 'break the rules' and incorrectly match players because there simply isn't any other choice. and the reason we have such little player pool is because it took so long for decent match making to com ein that any new player was stomped through the floor so hard they just left the game. in the six months i've known 10 players that have just left because they're fed up of the try hards proto stomping all evening and for them its simply not a fun game so they leave to play an easier game
Correct, a player should be able to play solo. But said player should be able to realize that they are at a disadvantage, not because of gear, but because they are solo going against people working together.

1. That person have isk to do so. 2. That person can't count on his ret@rded team.
Ps. Full squad of players using proto.. they don't need to use comms. They know what to do cuz they're not a bunch of ret@rds.
This is why I want the game to push people to squad. Playing with others should over time help them play better. It would take a single match and a dude would find out that crouching doesn't help (aside from sniping and HMG) and he wouldn't look so stupid.
