To me, The game felt much more alive back then. Back then, I used to play 10 times more PCs than Pubs. I had a lot of fun fighting Cubs. If his original plan was going to hell in a hand basket, He'd always manage to flip the table or he'd lose but by a minor fraction.
& Ace -- I've never been apart of 0.H's core leadership except as their vehicle commander & I was, Technically speaking, Their "Shrink". I'd always talk to Rei, Radar, Tibs, Guy, Blitz, Musturd, Rex, or Templar about problems they're having or just trying to smooth things out. Spin control, Basically.
Other than 0.H, The only dealings I feel may be note worthy is Imperious & I forming Pandemonium (PD301). Heck, Maybe if I can get Imperious playing again -- We'd form it back. I had a lot of fun making those projects.

If I was doing the roster for them, I might have replaced 1-2 guys (If the criteria was "Pure Talent"). 10-12 of them had TAC ARs... It was a sight to see. Came down to one tick of armor(It appeared to both sides that imps had no armor left, couldn't have been any closer). The biggest takeaway was that their most talented team almost lost to a ringer squad. Admittedly, it was a pretty talented ringer squad, but if I made the cut, then it was certainly no all-star team... Maybe half an all-star team. We were missing Kono(Who was a big part of our earlier win), but did have quite a few 'best in class' players.
Point being: most of the teams that still play now-a-day would probably wipe the floor with imps as they existed then. They were operationally exceptional and above average in small group tactics, but relied on those advantages too heavily and never developed much strategic depth.
But to be fair.....they did almost lose to The Generals (no disrespect to GEN) so maybe having all of that talent would have been toxic for them.
I remember that fight against Generals. I screwed up sending clones and only 100 landed on the district from Hrober attacking Aedald. You have to believe I was careful about clone jumps from then on. Of course most NF combat directors hated to wait for district regen, so it was mainly attacks with clone packs.
With the current clone loss geography doesn't really matter in PC anymore.
On topic I will say that Cubs was by far the most talented combat director I ever had the pleasure to work with and hands down the best FC in Dust. His ability to manage people and personalities in and out of battle was unparalleled. It's just a shame it took so long to bring him into NF. You can have the best meta in the world but if you don't have people that can get it done on the ground it doesn't matter.
In regard to Kujo, you have to remember that AE was created in order to try and keep NF alive after many, if not most, OG Imps quit Dust after checking off their bucket lists of people they wanted to smash from closed beta. 13ear and I picked Kujo to be the CEO of the new 'elite' corp, I came up with the name Ancient Exiles, and then the rest is history.
The unsung people in a lot of threads like these are the logistics people behind the scenes that kept these corps running. The Himiko's, Zaria's, Fiddle's, Gunner's, Sota's, Steeldark's, and countless others that keep the wheels in PC from coming to a grinding halt. Any leader that thinks he can truly manage an organization by himself is a fool.

Agree with this wholeheartedly...a ceo is nothing without his directors. One man simply can't do it all, and to have a cabinet of personalities adds an unfamed dimension to leadership. I love when my leaders disagree with my opinion, without that cross examination one will never make sound decisions. The most powerful people in dust are the guys you will never list or know, the guys that...damn, kept me playing when I wanted to give it all up. Cheers to them, the stage crew of our grand orchestra. |

He pretty much single-handedly throtted our high-ground, tankers, other ADS and slaughtered our infantry. And it was damn near impossible to take him out of the sky unless using a forge gun. He is pretty much what made us realize AV is absolutely necessary to win. This was right before ERA. lol. I realized that ERA gave the biggest paychecks so I pretty much unofficially became permanently contracted to them. But before them it was first come first serve.

Yeah, AE was always 1337 But I've always truly wondered who would've prevailed in an AE vs. imps fight. They were both dominant during two different times along DUST's development. But if you've been around DUST long enough and remember each, experienced each, then who do you think would have won? You have to remember that a good amount o AE came from the Imp/IE group. But judging from what I perceived, I don't think the Imps had AE's teamwork. But again, it was early in pc where everyone was still learning what's best. Imps' roster was bested by noone in Dust ever. They could have filled 2 squads with 7 KDR players easy. If the Imps would have adapted and learned teamwork to go with their raw talent, Imps would have won that war. Remember Regnyum, protoman, Reflex, Zitros, Ludvig, Moejoe, G-slick, etc. I'm not even counting the endless players that were competent enough to compete with anyone plus others that I can't even remember their names. Agree mostly Dubbs, but I have little doubt who would have been winner in that. We almost beat Imp's A squad with a thrown together team(STB&Friends vs Imps match 3 of the day). Granted, there were a lot of really solid players on that thrown together team, but you would expect a little more from guys of that caliber who had been playing together for a few months. Imps had incredible pure talent for sure, but post-1.4ish AE would have smacked them silly.

Cubs, AO, and CJ swapped back and forth between the two outside points. Gave them fits. Our dropship got shot down on the way in, instantkilled everyone, and we were never able to get a solid foothold in the city. I ended up getting ganked by TAC ARs trying to get links into good spots over and over :/. And yes, footage exists for all three of the matches that day, courtesy of pdiggy. so much BullSh*t in this thread, let me do some clean up.
*Ahem*
AE was getting about 19 battles a day, from both FA and ERA, while we were winning about 40% of the battles alone with locking, it simply wasn't enough. We were getting tired of getting on from 6 to 6 sometimes later to fight these battles that seem almost hopeless. It didn't feel good having little to no allies. FA/ERA had EvE support which at the time RA had about 7 dedicated pilots who were on sparatically so EvE was not an option.
at this point we were in a place we were almost going to fold. However, we liked our isk. we were still making around 120m a player at the time which was a nice steady flow of cash, and it payed for our other gaming habits, which was a luxury we weren't ready to give up. This was where things became complicated. Kujo being a very busy man wasn't able to show up much and that meant morale over all was low.
This was when the snake known as kane approached i believe steeldark with an offer. 2 billion isk for them to be on our side rather than FA's. What did this mean exactly? well, it meant that about 9 of the attacks that were going on daily, were now FAs problem to deal with. Now it was time to play aggressive. FA was locking their districts at the time as well and we had no spies there at the time so it was very hard to attack them. With this being said, we did have spies in other places. Every other corp in GTA, for example. So we did what is only logical, we spammed and took all of their districts leaving GTA bone dry cept for FA.
While we regained our morale and strength we had ERA basically distract FA.
the funny thing is? THEY LOST 99% OF THOSE BATTLES
we paid 2 billion isk to a corp that couldn't flip a single district.
Now for DNS. About a month into Renegade being formed we had an EvE corporation leave called "Vengeance Inc." They left with a promise. They went to DNS saying they were all about PvP and once they laid the ground work we would be in, as at the time everyone suspected an EvE/Dust tournament which as everyone knows got AE. harder then a virgin f*cking jessica alba. Now here comes the kicker. Kane Spero and DNSBlack turned out to be buddies IRL, and when kane reached out for us to join, we were not extatic. We were pissed. They stole what was rightfully ours and with the tournament on the line there was NO WAY we were letting kane have our in. so we complied.
As for the ****** who said we did this betraying Renegade, you have NO IDEA WHAT THE HELL YOUR TALKING ABOUT. literally, EVERYONE in renegade came to DNS that includes Dust and EvE side. My proof of this? Look at GTA. once DNS fell apart everyone from renegade went to GTA together ONCE AGAIN. We at AE. believe that friends are the most valuable resource in this game. Which is why every war we've ever been in we've won. We never burned bridges. Kujo taught me that.
Now for the icing on the cake. the FA battles.
At the time, FA was a corp that on their own wasn't very scary. FA HAS NEVER BEEN A CORP WHO FIELDS THEIR OWN 16.
on the rare occasions where it was 16 FA vs 16 AE we won every time. no question about it. Where the real problems came in, were when FA got their little "A-Team" Together. That was when they hired people like blitz and tibs from 0.H to carry them.
However, FA was not alone in this. You all know ERA and their famous "Were the best team ever lulz"
no. gtfo. You guys couldn't beat us 16v16 even if we were blindfolded.
You guys want to know why AE was the best most respected corp in the game? its because no matter what day in day out, if we had 16 players in corp chat, willing to play, we had 16 ******* with AE tags in the battle. The ONLY exception for this was 2 people. Rexero from 0uter.Heaven because i like his voice, it makes me laugh and made soul horny. And ReGnYuM from Imp/TP/ERA, for the sole reason that kalante liked him and kujo liked making fun of him.
AE. was never the enemy guys. All we did was try to expose the corrupt nature of molden heath and the corps inside it that all of you relied on.
Throughout it all, we kept our dignity, our honor, our pride, and our egos. These people are trying to throw dirt on our shiny name because we are all gone and cannot defend ourselves, But look around. At the end of the day. ERA came to us with the deal and got CARRIED by us all throughout DNS. They hired our members for almost every battle because of the simple fact that THEY CAN'T WIN WITHOUT GETTING CARRIED.
FA approached us with the idea of us joining GTA and taking out DNS. NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND. pull the veil from these lies. as the truth is right under your noses. That is all.

Interesting read. I'll correct 1 point and leave the rest for others to fight. It was not Kane that got everyone into DNS. Yes he did jump at the opportunity to get on board. It was the leader of Renegade Alliance. Eatsbabies.
Even tho yas didn't like me much in AE on dust. I was a big part of your eve support. So I was in the loop. He made the call to merge into DNS. Not Kane.
Other then that. Carry on with the argument. Should log on some time rampage.
