I am asking who the people are who have, at different times, had the most power (or control or hold over people or whatever you want to call it) in Dust.

Who are they now?
Who are the most powerful in the history of Dust?

Me.... at one point in time.

A mercenary with a thirst for ISK. Corps declaring wars on each other. All corps trying to hire me. I was the deciding factor of a Corp's Victory or Defeat. One match I fought for a corp. The next, against them. A true mercenary.

This may sound like Snugglz is being arrogant, but it's actually true. I remember getting stomped by ERA, not by their infantry, but by Snugglz. He pretty much single-handedly throtted our high-ground, tankers, other ADS and slaughtered our infantry.

And it was damn near impossible to take him out of the sky unless using a forge gun. He is pretty much what made us realize AV is absolutely necessary to win.

Matter of perspective. Kalash and I chatted about this last night. The "best players of all time" are the best players AS TIME GOES ON. A year ago, people I perceived as the best simply had a massive sp advantage over me - that little extra health, higher damage from proficiency, versatility to change to whatever was OP as soon as it was released...sp meant everything. After the three month break, I noticed the bar raising higher than when I left: everyone's sp was higher, their ability to perfect a suit attained.

We speculated that it isn't CCP's "screwing over the playerbase" that pushed these respective beasts out of the game, simply the fact that they no longer had that little bit extra to keep them one step above everyone else - those ego's just can't take not having 6.0 k/d's when it's not just straight scrubs running around everywhere. Or, they come back and find what OP setup they used is no longer such, and they are unable to adapt. Take the respec option for example - now anyone can instantly switch out to the next flavor, or take all the wasted sp and spec completely into super fits.

Now, I will say that there are those who no matter what happens will always be greats in their relative class. Preston in a heavy, Snugz derpin, radar in scouts, etc. etc. I guess the better question is, who are the greatest class players now/all time? Who are the most versatile? Who is able to stay great, no matter what mechanical changes are implemented? Talent > Skill.

Alright, what if i decide to be that guy and ask for a top ten list?

Alot of the current PC community is to new to remember the 1st year of PC. (yes PC existed before DNS) the fact that people like Mavado ,Cubs and Sha Karn were only mentioned once proves it. There used to be wars with hundreds of attacks launched weekly not this care bear PC we have now.

The real wars haven't been for over a year - none of the players who came in during DNS reign have ever experience a true war on those scales.

My thumbs bled from all the PC's you'd do in one day. You'd finish one, hop into another instantly, for like 4 hours straight, sometimes going into games already 2 minutes in with the enemy set up. And we still smashed 'em.

We'd have to 5 cap a game, beat it by MCC to a point, then instead of waiting for battle to end - hop out the core A team players and leave behind ninja hackers to make sure the district flips or is kept.

the sheer logistics and work put in puts everything done in the past year to shame.

How dare you all forget the one true king of Dust... Kingthunderbolt.

Seems I'm living your story. Only not the mercenary part and I rarely ever charged my clients.(might be why I got hired so much)

By the way, you and I should duel sometime. We've never got a proper one.
