IGÇÖd like to point out that weGÇÖre not doing this to pick on CCP Games, or continue the barrage of useless doom-and-gloom, that has infested the forums for so long GÇô WeGÇÖre doing it because weGÇÖre sceptical, and concerned, and scared by the nature of CCPGÇÖs communication (hint: It is still insufficient). We truly want DUST514 do to well, to hold its own, and to evolve into EVE:Legion; some of us are actually even buying PCs just to play EVE:Legion on! It has been more than 2 years now, and CCP is still just throwing crumpets at us, and expecting us to be well-pleased that we get anything at all. In this age, where other companies are engaging their customers much more frequently and direct, especially in the F2P area, we are getting the odd bit of information, with nothing to support it or any explanations, and weGÇÖre just here to say that CCP Games can and should do better.

There's a reason they threw a rather meaningless number of unique monthly players at us instead of something more relevant (because such a number wouldn't be great to show off).
Also, that 100k daily players statement was indeed questionable, as as you said, it took 18 days to even sell 100k Dropsuit Command skillbooks following a reset.

They did engage their customers more frequently and directly. We got DUST and then the DUST keynote at fanfest. We got only a part of what was marketed. They are keeping their mouths shut on Legion for good reason.
EVE connection anyone? The biggest feature that DUST was marketed with and largely non-existent.
I'm glad they're keeping their Incarna/DUST mouths shut for once.

PS4 is the only thing that can save this game.
Re-inventing it for Legion is too time consuming and resource intensive. Something CCP has never been good at managing for the long haul. It would take them around 7 years minimum, at the rate they work things out. Hilmar will lay them all off by then, because PS3 Dust will no longer be generating income and they will simply be an unattractive money sink at that point. Just like WoD was.
On the other hand, moving Dust to PS4, the actual existing game that isn't vaporware like WoD and Legion, will continue to generate income and draw in a massive playerbase of PS4 owners who want quite literally anything to play that they can get their hands on. That would give them a launch base to do whatever long term stuff they want to do on PC, as well as a stronger system to try out new things on.

I wish DUST players got the same level of respect from CCP that EVE does. its such a huge contrast between the two games, it feels like a difference of shopping in Harrods (EVE) to shopping in Wal-Mart (DUST514) i'm hoping that once its on PC and the hassle and redtape of developing for a consoles online store is removed the game can actually be freed up and allow to progress. For games liek this Consoles are nothing but a restriction, Microsoft and Sony and even Nintendo really lack a sense of adventure when it comes to independant devs on the online stores and lack a bit of imagination. i know a lot of people think Legion is death of the FPS side of EVE but i think it'll be theonly time we'd actually see more rapid progress without CCP having to run to sony for clearence on a patch. least with EVE and Legion on the same infrastructure it should be a helluva lot more smooth sailing.
one thing though is i think CCP need to limit their development, i think they spread themselves too thin by workign on EVE, then DUST514, then World of Darkness and then Valkyrie, for such a small company 4 games was too much and i often imagine what DUST514 would have turned out like with that extra $20m and extra 56 staff working on it that was wasted with World of Darkness

Why would I play Dust/Legion on a PC?
If I have to buy a PC, I could play Star Citizen instead...
I know it's not the same, but from what I gathered, SC will do a lot of the stuff that was promised Dust/EVE wise back in the days...

Bamm, I'm a fan of your videos normally but this is just peterwhocares.mp4.
Why care about how CCP spins its numbers to generate whatever BS stats? I enjoyed my year-ish here and spent my share but that's all over now. If CCP wants to fix it, they will fix it and no scathing ~video game journalism~ will matter. If they want it to stay bad, let it be bad and just let go.
The best part of this video is the end where you go 'amorti, morti, *mouth fart noises* say that 10x fast' Keep doing those videos and save your serious business effort for games that aren't abandoned. |

Well what are you waiting for! Start chuggin and let it flow
Interesting video, Im curious to skip to the last chapter and see where it all winds up. I stumbled into the EVE/DUST world about 10 yrs too late I guess, and as a newcomer its disheartening to hear that "things aren't going so well". Looking into Star Citizen and Elite Dangerous, CCP has some seriously stiff competition. It makes me a little reserved in deciding to spend money on something that is in all possibilities "circling the drain". If EVE is "dying out" why would I want to make such a risky investment when there are other options that seems to be offering more? Just to help keep the boat afloat?
I'm completely down for that though, because I do like the game. Although, I am starting to understand why so many long time CCP customers are so upset with them now. CCP almost seems like they are some sort of shady investment broker, and take your money and then leave you in the dark so they don't have to tell you how much they screwed up with it. A little transparency would go a long way right about now. Something, anything hinting at projected future goals for the CCP games in question. Article? Screenshots? (pushing my luck) video trailer?, Would do more to draw investors (customers) than apparently CCP realizes.
The thing has me "in awe" sort of speak, is the 10+ yrs of history and lore, and what they have to build upon. The EVE world is so vast and rich in history, I would hate to see it end just as I'm beginning to get interested in it.
Hey thats my luck though. I'd love to see more, but when you look into games like Elite Dangerous, and there's actual joystick flight, space piracy, exploring an actual galaxy. Heck, it seems like how EVE was supposed to be.
Now if only CCP could put up EVE, Legion content showing what we all want/ hope for in these games, I believe CCP could bring something that makes Elite Dangerous look too simple. But they need to hurry up and do it already. They are going to miss their moment and be stuck in the same rut it seems they've been in for years, if they don't give the last of their audience and the few they've drew in recently some kind of content if they expect to go anywhere with the little momentum they've gained recently. |

In fact, we are currently seeing the highest engagement numbers in over a year, averaging around 300.000 Monthly Active (unique) Users over the last few months. Edit: And when companies publishes numbers like this it's usually just characters unless stated otherwise as that implies a bigger playerbase.

That would give them a launch base to do whatever long term stuff they want to do on PC, as well as a stronger system to try out new things on.
so you think that porting to ps4 won't also be time consuming and resource intensive? it has been said by the developers that those are the reasons for which not to port dust to ps4.

The two systems have completely different architectures. The Unreal 3 engine running DUST right now has been heavily modified. This means it will have to be massively overhauled to work on the PS4. That is a HUGE deal (like redesigning/rebuilding your car's engine while it's driving down the road). This is basically what they've been doing for Legion, and what I suspect they've spent 90%+ of their time working on since Fanfest. The difference is that they have a lot more flexibility on the PC, can get a test server going, and don't have to push changes through Sony which slows everything down. Once they can get Legion sorted on the PC, porting to PS4 is not nearly as difficult. As much as I wish it wasn't, Legion on the PC first truly is the right call.
Best PvE idea ever!
