Scouts in 1.7 needed an e-war buff
Assaults with the commando bonus to damage + current bonuses and slots (minus cal assault and perhaps gal assault) fixes the problem of slayer logi's.
Heavies were fine in 1.7
Logi's with the nerf to reps and buff to assaults would have been fine.
The e-war game was better in 1.7 aside from scout needing a better advantage.
While I like the idea of a delay, I think a good 1 second where a scout is fully visible before they are able to use a weapon is plenty.
Anything more, and you make it too much of a liability. Remember, cloaks are not by and large completely invisible, whatever any of your half thunderbolt video making CPM brethren might say.
If a cloaked scout is spotted and engaged, 3 seconds is WAAAAY to long for them to return fire. Especially considering in such an instance they are already at a significant HP advantage. One second is already well beyond the TTK for most, if not all, dampened scouts.

LOL. this age old debate. Ehhh I tried them for research and they have to many advantages compared to disadvantages. I would like to see a week with out them, then we will go from there.

It would be a liability for offensive combat purposes. But for recon and the like it'd be fine.
And if you do get seen and engaged as a scout..you just run...that's precisely what happens in game in most situations.

While I do agree that scouts are the lowest of the low I don't agree that it is the fault of the cloak.
In general the only problem I have with scouts is how damn fast they are, the effective range of the shotguns, and how far they can throw remotes.
I understand that scouts should be fast but this has gotten little bit out of control. Add in even the smallest amount of lag and many scouts will simply disappear. Being a scout should be alot of picking off the stragglers and flanking the enemy but we see scouts running through mob of opponents and not getting touched. Add in how far they can throw a remote and you've got a real problem on your hands that is leading to scout spam.
I don't know what the solution is but there are bigger issues to deal with than the cloak.
I would start with the remotes tbh. I see them as a trap device you should have to stop and set derectly in front of you and not as something you throw. Right now they are functionally a remote sticky bomb.

When you are caught in the open, without any cover to run to, it is more a matter of desperation. It would be nice if we could speed tank and maybe be a little more evasive in the open, but I don't think that is a possibility.

As a shotgun scout (who doesn't like cloaks, but prefers to use hiding around corners and such) I hate that no skill shotgunners can literally sit right beside an objective and be unscannable (Gal, 3 damps) even with GalLogi Focused scanner, it's a sad tactic.

I don't mind cloaked scouts in and of themselves, but they have too many advantages at this point. Scouting was more fun before the buffs, it was a challenge that required you to take better angles and routes. Also bring back the volleyball agaisnt the wall sound for shotguns, that was terrifying on its own. If you heard that anywhere on the map you took notice.

the problem isn't the cloak, it is the fact that precision enhancors are not the same % as dampeners allowing any scout (not just the gal) to be unscannable with spare low slots(aside from cal), and same problem with active scanners

Also, on an note related more directly to the OP, don't need to remove cloak. Just change it so it's a tactical survival tool more than an assault tool. |
