New players will be able to get up to our level much quicker. This also means that we won't have as much of an advantage over most of the players and therefore, the quit dust rate of new players won't be so low. This also means that pubs should get better so we won't have to no life it with cheese ball tactics in PC for some decent level of play.
How is that a bad thing?.
Just the grind that I went through to get my skills. I didn't like any of the triple SP events that much either but I'm all for whatever brings new players in so don't get me wrong I like the SP changes as I hope more players stick around. I will admit that it does devalue a little bit of our grind and effort in the past but you are right in thinking more new players may stick around. I get the same feeling. If this expands the life span of the game, I am all for it. If it creates more diverse and unique battles. I am all for that too. I can see the positive effect these changes may bring. Feeling the devalue of my work and looking at what these changes could mean to the player base, I am willing to bite my ego and let it go if this ends up being good for everyone else.
Wonderfully put master, superb.

TL;DR you forum warriors don't have a good reputation outside of the forums. Stop calling yourselves "the community" and realize the vast majority of the actual Dust community doesn't even log onto this forum.
Yeah, and people who don't vote complain about the outcome of elections. If you don't speak up, your voice isn't heard. This is not the problem of those who do speak up.
Because, that's why.

Anyway, the fact you can Max skills means that the whole 'nigh untouchable vet' level is a figment of imagination and its never been easier to own with a starter fit.
Agreed, the OP's love of his accomplishment is touching.
I have brought many players to this game long after launch and most quit due to the grind it takes to get the first full proto fitting.
Months...
Cut that time down and more will stick around. Guaranteed. |

In DUST you cannot buy anything with aur that you couls not with ISK. You ca get to 40 mil just like booster buyers. It only takes longer. Speed advantages are not pay to win. Technically officer weapons wouldn't be because you can get thwm via play but that is REALLY pushing the envelope.
The fact that CCP makes the best weaponry non real money purchase speaks against P2W. Yeah we all get that but how can you not see buying three boosters and stacking them to get ahead as not pay to win? People who do that are going to get massively ahead over non money spenders. It'll be nice for the new players but as a vet is stings a little to know I worked for so long and so hard to get where I'm at and now others will be able to reach where I'm at in a fraction of the time I invested. Why exactly does that sting though?. New players will be able to get up to our level much quicker. You really think the play and tactics will change just because there are more people? All it will do is add more people to the FOTM and scrub tactics that's already heavily implemented in this game through stomps and playstyle multiplying.

Hmmmmm I barely capped back when it was 180K...... this is now roughly 4x the amount of SP per week and 8x as much with an Omega booster.......
Now I only have 29,000,000 SP....so its not like I have a lot.....but wow....
Dust 514 players.....having everything handed to them..... that's kind of weak. What it took me roughly 18 months to achieve it will now take a player 7 tops.....

Lets be honest. HTFU doesn't work here on Dust anymore. It worked in the beginning but it has moved on beyond that. The landscape of Dust has changed. Just my opinion, but the true brutality of Dust would have forced many gamers from it, reason why EVE is such a niche game catering to only certain people.
In the console world, letters and class action lawsuits would change HTFU into "I love you very much, with hugs".
Not that is a diss or anything. It's just that I think HTFU has no place here anymore.

Just the grind that I went through to get my skills. I didn't like any of the triple SP events that much either but I'm all for whatever brings new players in so don't get me wrong I like the SP changes as I hope more players stick around. Oh god, can you imagine triple SP events now? New cap + stacked omega boosters x triple SP = 6,750,000 SP That is more money going into the game. Also at my sp level, that boost hardly matters... After a certain sp point.. You already have multiple suits, maxed passives, multiple guns, ect. All at a proto level. Anymore sp just opens up a few more options but you can only use one suit at a time..So in my eyes the value of sp starts to goes down after first 30m sp. The first 30m sp is probably the most critical. If this brings alot more noobs up to speed with vets the game will feel alot more balanced imo.
Certainly have a point there. Although, 6.75m SP is still rather alarming for one week ._.
