It's about knowing that the feeling we used to get - and I honestly still get - when WE were new players... that vets were to be respected and that one day you could EARN that respect yourself... that feeling will no longer exist in Dust.
There will be no more diversity. No more will you be in awe at a good Caldari Commando sniper, or a committed Minmatar Scout.
No matter what niche you filled prior to 1.9, you will just be another one of the many.
It felt good to be one of the few. To have truly earned your place through hard work and careful use of SP boosters.
Not just stack 3 of them and cheese your way to upwards of 2 million SP in a week, for a very small fee.
This song used to be an icon of how it felt to have achieved greatness in Dust. Now it will just be a faded memory.

i disagree as most vets can easly have 30m+ sp and even after the new changes comming in 1.9 the vets will get a massive multipler to sp while newbies still need to nolife or raise their loyalty level up to get better returns at the end of a match.. all the while vets are speeding ahead getting like 5x or more the sp newbros get so vets will still be ahead.. and newbros will get some better sp per game then they currently get meaning they get basic/standard much much faster and advanced a bit faster.. proto is still a massive leap/commitment
my verdict the "vet respect" is still there (if such a thing existed in the first place as vets would just roflstomp newbros who are in mlt suits anyway and cause newbros to leave dust and not play again) but this is more about helping newbros get up to speed and also rewarding vets so i see it as Win Win

Not sure what point you're trying to make here. For me it's not about the numbers. It's about having ALL your dropsuit upgrades maxed, so you're just that much better, faster, and stronger. It's about feeling a sense of accomplishment becoming, for example, a Gallente Logi. I was very proud of this because hardly anyone else was willing to choose that race. Not anymore.

Being a veteran has nothing to do with a number. thats just "bitter-vet" but a generalized "vet" is lets say 30m+ sp their preferred role is proto cores maxed weapon maxed and a good amount of knowledge of the game and maps (which will be shaken up in 1.9 with new maps and the tweaks to old)

but it devalues each role. you used to be a unique person on the battlefield if you chose something and stuck with it.
all the SP boost means for vets is that the roles we haven't skilled into yet are that much less important.

Point being, I'm not as effective on the field as I am because of my core skills: it's from knowing the maps intimately and knowing how to read the flow of battle - no amount of SP can give that.

If newbs can level up quick enough to not have to no life it so hard to even come close, then I'm all for that. More will actually stick with the game.
Anyway, the fact you can Max skills means that the whole 'nigh untouchable vet' level is a figment of imagination and its never been easier to own with a starter fit.

Meh. Beta vet doesn't care because I have sentinels more or less maxed. I think I could maybe optimize four skills and then no one could be "better" than me without being naturally hot on the battlefield.
Means they are either damn good or damn lucky. Either way, not my problem.
Let the newbies grind, the last two years of snail's pace progress have led too many to burn out too fast. A feeling of progress always slows burnout.

TL;DR you forum warriors don't have a good reputation outside of the forums. Stop calling yourselves "the community" and realize the vast majority of the actual Dust community doesn't even log onto this forum.

That's an awfully big supposition there.
In my experience most players neither know nor care that there is a forum. You and your little tryhard friend circle jerk don't qualify as anything resembling a majority.
Get over yourself. Most players want more FUN, not more grindy bull shizz.
You do not represent the views of anything but an indignant fraction of the player base. And quite bluntly I'd rather see a buncha crazy newbies who are enjoying shooting mans than see you and your buddies restrict everyone to the burnout grind.

Again, twice the current cap would put the new players in a really good place SP wise.
Quadruple the normal cap completely undermines the hard work ANYONE has done before 1.9 not just the vets.

You keep generalising and projecting your own opinion as fact though, not looking good.
We are fanboys because we want the game to be more accessible for newbs which will give the game longevity, OK then.
And if we are idiots, then what does that make you for being part of the forum community?.

Bluntly newbies can close the SP efficiency gap fast. This is a good thing.
Vets can keep ahead and retain their 30-70 million SP lead the same way. Whoop de doo.
The new changes give vets a reason to do something other than say screw it, passive SP is good enough till legion.
Most vets QUIT because of the grind, or only play once a month, or only play forum war 514 because actually playing the game has traditionally rewarded dedication the way a power drill through the forehead rewards a lack of common sense.
