Not if you run 2x regulators.
A fully maxed shield suit is actually pretty incredible at burst tanking. Deal some damage, sit behind cover and you can destroy slow-rep suits easily.
My Min Assault runs about 480 shields with pretty insane shield recovery and regen, AND it sprints at 8.77 m/s.

I still don't like how gk bonus is now vastly inferior.. it was already a pretty much an ooc (out of combat) bonus. so what are we looking at are rep of .5 more compared to every other suit gaining a slot... jesus and retaining current attribute? 4.5 rep/s? typo?

All the races have an advantage in some way.
The Amarr get extra armour and stamina. The Caldari get extra shield regen and reduced regen delays. The Minmatar get extra speed and extra stamina regen.
The Gallente previously got a small innate armour repair of 1-3 HP/s (although any repair fitted dropsuit will quickly render that negligible as 2 HP/s in 30 HP/s is practically irrelevant).
Now, the Gallente advantage is 0.5 HP/s.
All of the other races trump this bonus hugely.

Personally I am all for you Gallente being the Rep kings. In my mind that's great but your bonus, should significantly impact your selection of modules, increasing your rep rates more and more as you stack reppers while minimising stacking penalties.
IMO if these passive reps are to occur they should only rep to the suits unmodified base armour value.
E.G- Gallente 275 (343 with skills) Caldari 155 (1194 with skills) Amarr 315 (394 with skills) Minmatar 190 (237 with skills)
Then cap off. This gives the Shield suits the greatest benefits of the native reps as is CCP Rattati's intention but does not make armour suits significantly better, only receiving (or boosting if you will) to increase repairs until their drop suits armour values have repaired.
Further more it does not deviate from established armour mechanics any more than necessary.

Alternatively you could bypass this issue entirely by using a rail rifle. It's not like the Galassault bonus makes the AR worth using over it.

Vulpes Dolosus wrote:Actually, I think you'll see a lot more shield tanking as a result since it will free up a low slot on Cal/ Min suits for Regs, PG/CPU mods, and biotics.
Granted there will probably be an increase in armor taking as well, but honestly they'll still need to fit repair mods since the native boosts are lackluster at best, it will only really just improve on current fittings rather than remove repairs all together.
I would most certainly utilize more regulators if given some passive armor repair.

The native rep they'll give to everybody won't change anything about our current fittings.. Why do you even cry? Do you really think I'll stop using a 9.38HP/s armor rep because I have a 2hp/s native one? No, it will just give a very (very very) small buff to suits, but wont change the way we build them.
Sorry for my bad english.

I do just fine in a Gallente Assault G-1. Similar to the OP Gal Scout, but you know, is actually made for assaulting?
BTW, AR is still beastly.
Why not a buff to the other races. I know that the Cal Sentinel could use an innate repper so it can still employ a regulator effectively.
Give the Magsex some love.

It's just not cricket. The main advantage is that it frees up suits for more creative fits, especially on the low end, and on shield suits, with limited low slots.

I think it is to increase up time of all the suits, but specifically commando and reduce everyone's abuse of supply stations. Is there a fix for supply stations in the mix or in the future?... lets hope.

It's just not cricket. Honestly it changes a lot - it could break up the fitting meta in a lot of ways. Because the change isn't just a buff or nerf but will have an impact on what modules are needed it could make many alterations viable than we see today.
Change is good. Get ahead of the new curve.

Does that ("next time around") mean that we would have to wait until the next balancing pass, after this one, in order to get the buff to the Gal rep rate? Or will this buff be happening during this balancing pass?
If the later, then I am ok with the changes.
If the former, I am extremely upset, and feel like grabbing who ever thought that this was a good idea by the shoulders, shaking them violently, then screaming, "for god's sake man snap out of it", in their face.
This is bad mojo more really bad. Your about to make ever suit I have nothing but a mediocre piece of crap.
