I'd like to go back up a bit with the skill, to either 5% to 7% as Derrith suggested in feedback. Big thing that needs to be done is change heat build-up on railguns. 7 shots is pretty worthless.
If you have constructive feedback, it would be appreciated.
If you find an issue and I stumble upon your thread, I will do my darnedest to get the issue known.

I am sorry CCP Crippled your toy. Ofcourse you want a broken mechanic back such as stacking skills to increase rate of fire. And you deserve it. Yesterday all I ran was Logi with Wyrokmoi (sp) Swarms, sat on 6 nanohives. It seemed like there were more dropships out than normal. Like the pilots didn't believe their sh!t had just got pushed in. Thank you CCP. I think in one match there was a total of 4-5 dropships I downed.
Swarms should be a sidearm so that everyone can shoot a dropship down, it is quite fun. |

he is right though. I watched as a armor ads with max skills, proto rail turret and gunner attacked a militia shield tank and the tanker was in my squad was laughing due to he had no vehicle skills and using militia mods drove from the reds redline to our back ground to get away and the ads could NOT KILL HIM?! umm. ads are assault dropships made to attack vehicles and ground units. so if a militia shield tank with no skills can live what chance does it have against a full skill tanker? you over heat after 7-8 shots with max ads skills and that is with a gunner. |

Swarm launchers have the ever so obvious downside of being easy to spot once they fire and being absolutely useless to infantry unless they are hugging a vehicle. One vehicle shouldn't be a cure all for everything and as I've told tankers a dozen times if you play careful and don't rush into the middle of a battle you could do wonders. |

Thats kinda funny, because I fluxed a dropship that was low flying and killed it with a Kali rail rifle in WWI. |

And besides we are talking about ADS not tanks Slow charge, eh? IAFG has base 3 second charge, which is reduced by the passive skill bonus. Swarms have 1.4 second (much shorter than the forge, also fire and forget) lock on timer, which is reduced by the passive skill bonus.
Can you honestly give me a rational argument as to why a rifle should be a serious threat to a vehicle?

I was in a dom yesterday, sniping from [REDACTED] on Fracture Road, and I watched seven - SEVEN - redberries loose swarms on a Python simultaneously. The smoke trails from their missiles blotted out the sun. The Python crashed in the shade.
Delta just dropped, Swarms vs. ADS is the thing of the minute. After a few matches, I was indeed seeing a lot of new snipers trying the rifle. I literally took two guys off the same rooftop twice each, but I couldn't see their uplink from my vantage point, so when one of them came in a third time, I popped him again. I saw them in the killfeed with the STD rifle and the NT-511 respectively. Just like Swarms, a lot of people are trying it because it's newly buffed. They'll find that sniping isn't so easy and they'll go back to being regular infantry whining about snipers.
All these new swarmers will find themselves still ineffective alone without Wyrkomis on a Minmandong, and pilots will find that they're not facing 7 swarmers at once anymore and they'll still be largely immortal as they can still GTFO with near impunity, they just have to wait longer before coming back.

Also, 12 proxies? Didn't they have their damage increased? Let's go with their base of 750, because I don't have the game on. 750 x 12 = 9000 damage. I think I just shut that down right there. Don't forget, it's explosive, so it does increased damage against armor.

Delta just dropped, Swarms vs. ADS is the thing of the minute. After a few matches, I was indeed seeing a lot of new snipers trying the rifle. I literally took two guys off the same rooftop twice each, but I couldn't see their uplink from my vantage point, so when one of them came in a third time, I popped him again. I saw them in the killfeed with the STD rifle and the NT-511 respectively. Just like Swarms, a lot of people are trying it because it's newly buffed. They'll find that sniping isn't so easy and they'll go back to being regular infantry whining about snipers.
All these new swarmers will find themselves still ineffective alone without Wyrkomis on a Minmandong, and pilots will find that they're not facing 7 swarmers at once anymore and they'll still be largely immortal as they can still GTFO with near impunity, they just have to wait longer before coming back. Really now? The third volley is guaranteed to hit, unless there's people on the ground to witness the first volley leaving to tell the pilot to GTFO. Swarms are still invisible at least half the time, you don't hear them approaching sometimes, and rendering is still abysmal, giving AV infantry a huge advantage.
I may be missing something, but I'm pretty sure that I didn't call for a tank nerf before Uprising 1.7. - Atiim

Your whole arguement revolved around "it's a tank, one infantryman shouldn't be able to take it down even with weapons specifically designed to do that" which completely ignores the fact that a single infantryman has been able to take out tanks since WW2.

In fact, I've been here, under one name or another, since beta.
But I'll tell you what, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, since I don't read every single post in every sub-forum. It is entirely possible that some idiot may have actually posted something that stupid, and I just missed it.
So prove it: provide a link, or stop arguing about crazy nonsense.
Again, I don't think there is a single person on here, AV OR pilot, that has SERIOUSLY claimed that a RIFLE should be a threat to a vehicle, and if they did, I completely agree that they are stupid.

I fully agree with this. If someone has a proposal for this, that enables either the ADS or the AV to win, I am entirely for that. But most claims I've seen have been that the ADS should always be able to survive an encounter with an AV user and escape, and that isn't something I can agree with.

The funny thing is this thread was started on the Turret RoF for the dropship, and not anything else. As it stands, AV, HAV, and LAV's can engage dropships but dropships can not engage them back. Iron Wolf I would love to make a nice chart for this but I don't for CCP. And I do not mean this in a negative way. From what it looks like to me CCP just wants this game to stay around and will adjust things according despite it causing balancing issues. There will always be a, "Flavor of the Month," because their goal is just that. Every bit of feedback myself and many others have been giving is being over looked. Perhaps silence on what needs to be done for balance is the best answer.

No that isn't the only way, though it is the best efficient way without upsetting the other parameters that currently are around or doing major overhauls to the game as an entirety. CCP can fix this as Rattati stated. They can go in and change something not working in no time.

In regards, to Hard Counters (Fundamental Roles etc) Yes. As for soft counters like: Suit frames, tanking, weapon profile, and many other things No.
Dust is a different FPS yes and the whole meta of rock, paper, scissors, Spark, and Lizard... etc makes the game interesting. However, player skill in positioning, movement, and aiming needs to be weighted as well.
We're not rolling for kills here...

Yes because being near immune to all small arms fire with the only things able to kill you being one of three AV weapons which have limited use against infantry, a tank that can barely aim up, or installation turrets with a massive blindspot and short range clearly indicates that infantry have an easy job killing ADS. Ever seen video of Taliban firing their rifles at an Abrams tank? You know what happens? Absolutely nothing, as has happened since the beginning of tank warfare in WWI. That's exactly how it should be. You ever see what a 280mm cannon does to a structure? but when I drop OBs **** still survies fairly well, thing is I don't cry about not being strong enough
jace that person could always be a bad pilot, anecdotal evidence should be avoided for a logical arguement, for an emotional or ethical one it's fine.

Resistance and all ADS pilots 5% sure, OR as long as there's no plain damage bonus that ADSes provide, 10% even would be reasonable I'd like to see a high ROF, because you're going to reload more often and resupply more if you have higher ROF which allows for higher DPS, and a 15% reload bonus, would be reasonable and once 100% is reached (Skill Stacking) the math would go screwy making the reload either instaenous or make the DS explode into a singularity....

I've said this hundreds of times since Open Beta about dropships and people can't wrap their minds around it.
Let's find a popular Cult Movie to explain. Rambo First Blood. When Rambo is sitting there fighting a Helicopter with Trained sharpshooters having an aerial view and Rambo is stuck in the Forest with just a gun with a few bullets... Or even a Hunting knife i think?
Rambo and the Helicopter with trained sharpshooters and high powered weaponry are still able to stand off and have a meaningful fire fight where the Helicopter takes alot of hits and Rambo gets shot at alot(He is the hero so he can't be shot)
Dust has never had it so a Super Human Dropsuit and a Troop transporter with Defenses are able to stand off and have a meaningful fire fight where they can both exchange fire and have somewhat equal footing.... And the only time that One part has been able to kill the other party is with EXTREMELY low TTK... Meaning the Infantry has been able to drop the dropship in 3-4 hits and the dropship has been able to drop the infantry in less. Never ever allowing dropships to establish any meaningful role in DUST but recreational PUB use and momentary positional advantage in PC.
Having a dropships operate in a low fly position and be durable, while having defenses only strong enough that infantry and vehicle can have meaningful and competitive exchanges. Picking up and dropping off mercenaries and providing a mobile spawn platform with survivability in position of actually functionally using and deploying mercenaries..... Will do nothing but IMPROVE THE GAME AS A WHOLE.
The red-lines, Stale mates... Minutes without seeing enemies or trying to get to positions.... would largely NOT EXIST IN DUST IF DROPSHIPS ACTUALLY FULFILLED THEIR ROLE IN ANYWAY.
Not only this but having full time AV infantry specialists will be a viable role with a durable dropship that is in place in the skies in a reachable position... in majority... As dropships will be durable and have time to pick out engage and have meaningful engagements with AV users.... Teams will need AV users Full time to remove or scare away mobile spawn platforms and troop support... Giving a full time role to AV enthusiasts... rather then just a Viable use of the allocation of Skill points every other match for a few minutes... which is all AV weapon investment gives the average mercenary, a very momentary and rarely used item.
It's a massive hole in the General Concept that the entire game was designed around when they built the game and planned out mechanics. It hurts the entire game that the concept of how dropships fit in DUST has never even closely been realized. |
