ikr.. 100% to rof was ridiculous but so is over nerfing the system where it becomes redundant so they can sweep the issue under the rug and sht on everyone who wasted points on it. they obviously didnt learn anything with the complex damage mod nerf/rebuff,

In regards, to Hard Counters (Fundamental Roles etc) Yes. As for soft counters like: Suit frames, tanking, weapon profile, and many other things No.
Dust is a different FPS yes and the whole meta of rock, paper, scissors, Spark, and Lizard... etc makes the game interesting. However, player skill in positioning, movement, and aiming needs to be weighted as well.
We're not rolling for kills here...

Starting this to have Assault Dropships viable again. With the new rate of fire along with the Afterburner changes Assault Dropships are not serving their role. What we want as pilots is our old rate of fire and operation of our turrets back. With our old ROF and turret operation Assault dropships can at least have a fighting chance again. This isn't a petition for Afterburner changes but turret changes done to the Turrets. Please like or sign below so as pilots we can update this list.

Not to burst your bubble but is with or without small weapons fire from the dropship?
Over 50 Million SP and almost full proto in all Caldari Suits. No matter how hard CCP tries Dust just won't die on PS3/4

Yes because being near immune to all small arms fire with the only things able to kill you being one of three AV weapons which have limited use against infantry, a tank that can barely aim up, or installation turrets with a massive blindspot and short range clearly indicates that infantry have an easy job killing ADS. Ever seen video of Taliban firing their rifles at an Abrams tank? You know what happens? Absolutely nothing, as has happened since the beginning of tank warfare in WWI. That's exactly how it should be. You ever see what a 280mm cannon does to a structure? but when I drop OBs **** still survies fairly well, thing is I don't cry about not being strong enough
jace that person could always be a bad pilot, anecdotal evidence should be avoided for a logical arguement, for an emotional or ethical one it's fine.
Reg, you're on the ball. on both statements
Resistance and all ADS pilots 5% sure, OR as long as there's no plain damage bonus that ADSes provide, 10% even would be reasonable I'd like to see a high ROF, because you're going to reload more often and resupply more if you have higher ROF which allows for higher DPS, and a 15% reload bonus, would be reasonable and once 100% is reached (Skill Stacking) the math would go screwy making the reload either instaenous or make the DS explode into a singularity....

I've said this hundreds of times since Open Beta about dropships and people can't wrap their minds around it.
Let's find a popular Cult Movie to explain. Rambo First Blood. When Rambo is sitting there fighting a Helicopter with Trained sharpshooters having an aerial view and Rambo is stuck in the Forest with just a gun with a few bullets... Or even a Hunting knife i think?
Rambo and the Helicopter with trained sharpshooters and high powered weaponry are still able to stand off and have a meaningful fire fight where the Helicopter takes alot of hits and Rambo gets shot at alot(He is the hero so he can't be shot)
Dust has never had it so a Super Human Dropsuit and a Troop transporter with Defenses are able to stand off and have a meaningful fire fight where they can both exchange fire and have somewhat equal footing.... And the only time that One part has been able to kill the other party is with EXTREMELY low TTK... Meaning the Infantry has been able to drop the dropship in 3-4 hits and the dropship has been able to drop the infantry in less. Never ever allowing dropships to establish any meaningful role in DUST but recreational PUB use and momentary positional advantage in PC.
Having a dropships operate in a low fly position and be durable, while having defenses only strong enough that infantry and vehicle can have meaningful and competitive exchanges. Picking up and dropping off mercenaries and providing a mobile spawn platform with survivability in position of actually functionally using and deploying mercenaries..... Will do nothing but IMPROVE THE GAME AS A WHOLE.
The red-lines, Stale mates... Minutes without seeing enemies or trying to get to positions.... would largely NOT EXIST IN DUST IF DROPSHIPS ACTUALLY FULFILLED THEIR ROLE IN ANYWAY.
Not only this but having full time AV infantry specialists will be a viable role with a durable dropship that is in place in the skies in a reachable position... in majority... As dropships will be durable and have time to pick out engage and have meaningful engagements with AV users.... Teams will need AV users Full time to remove or scare away mobile spawn platforms and troop support... Giving a full time role to AV enthusiasts... rather then just a Viable use of the allocation of Skill points every other match for a few minutes... which is all AV weapon investment gives the average mercenary, a very momentary and rarely used item.
It's a massive hole in the General Concept that the entire game was designed around when they built the game and planned out mechanics. It hurts the entire game that the concept of how dropships fit in DUST has never even closely been realized. |
