0% risk or reward my butt. Snipers are easy sitting targets. The only problem is heavy and super tanked Assault snipers. You know a sniper is UP when you can't even kill enemy snipers with headshots. You guys are just lazy and want the sniper to stay in the dirt just because you don't want to pick up the sniper and actually counter snipe. The last time I was killed by a sniper was literally a month ago. How sad, I have been killed more by flay locks and ion pistols than snipers.
I remember a time when you had to be careful crossing large areas. Now even a militia scout can survive a direct hit from a Thales. I remember a time when you had to have a counter sniper in your squad because snipers were good but ever since they have been getting nerfed into the ground. Assault HP buff, Damage mod nerf, new crosshairs ect. ect.

There is only ever 0 risk when nobody tries to kill you. people like to say about this 0 risk for red liners, well they also get 0 reward. . they get low kills, so do not really enjoy sniping (first time you get more than 20 kills, you start to feel it, after your first 30 you are hooked) .all snipers get relatively low wp and by extension low isk, the worse you do the less you get. .they do not get taken into corp battles and the likes .When they come across a decent sniper they get severely punished for their sins..
but the thing to remember is that does not describe all snipers, but all snipers get described as that.

This, the average sniper..........I said average, not highly skilled like Snake n Symbiotic, miiiiiiiiihgt make 150k isk on a good match, if I lost 1 suit at that low of an income, I'm in the red for that match since mine are somewhere between 150-200k don't have the game up so I can't give exact numbers. Anyway, to be PUB effective, you pretty much have to run a proto sr to keep up with the ehp on most non starter fit suits anymore..... Apothecary Za'ki....if you ever meet a REAL sniper in a match, one that comes on here anyway, you will be regretting those words.....they will be ******* with you the entire match like I do a redliner.-

good enough they were up to standard.. it was like sniping in a normal FPS where you can't tank a headshot and it took 2-3 body shots to kills someone.. i dont even snipe but it's just a joke now the guy getting snipe just shrugs it off.

So now head shots do nothing.
the sniper rifle has been all but made useless.

Well, think about it, back then a headshot meant death, which also made it easier to counter snipe so there weren't that many people ballsy enough to risk losing a Thales. Now that the sniper rifle is underpowered, countering that Thales guy in the back of the redline means figuring out how to efficiently take out 1000+ HP before he realizes what is happening and hides. Counter sniping people like that is so inefficient that it borders on insanity. What are we, snipers, to do if infantry cried to nerf the sniper and up the amount TTK which indirectly killed the most efficient counter to the 1000+eHP Thales.
The only counter then is either another Thales, which means the opposing Thales user will have to cross the battle field and risk his Thales to take out another Thales who is chilling in the redline, or some other unconventional and equally inefficient method.
People who complain about redline sniping being zero risk forgets that it is the underpowerness of all the other snipers that make it no risk to redline snipe. The weakness of the rifle gives added protection to many redline snipers from the elite snipers.
So if good snipers see the inefficiency in killing pub Thales users then how does one expect the rest of the player base to compete.

Listen, it cost me around 50k each time I wanna kill a sniper because I have to fly deep into the redline, hope I kill him.
Then I die...NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS.
So to stop this person who is picking myself and my blueberries off before we can get to the point(and please stop saying this is impossible, I've lost many Proto suits to sniper rifles) I have to either skill into the weapon they are using, skill into a suit with lots of highs then get to the point and start trying to snipe him while avoiding his team mates. God forbid he is near a supply depot or in a fat suit.
If I choose not to go into snipers, then I have to kill myself or risk a minimum of 300,000 isk to fly a ADS into the redline to kill one or 2 guys who were suppressing my entire team.
As long as there is a redline you can't buff snipers.

People don't ***** about Snipers because they got killed by one, they ***** because there's 4-10 of them in every match, doing jack **** to help win a match. Hiding in the hills like a ***** ass Charles Whitman wannabe, trying to pad their KDR, not actually making a dent in the clone count or contributing to point control. Your payouts suck because your Team probably lost because the Team that won had less than 3 snipers. If it was a Deathmatch, you might be useful. But, that mode does not exist. So get your ass on the ground and flip some objectives if you want to get paid and not ridiculed.

Honestly the biggest problem I've had with sniping is that half my shots blue flare. The shot hots, I get a hit marker, shields flare, but no damage is done.

Actually, the redline is there for a reason. It's supposed to be used as a quiet reprieve area where you take the time to summon in vehicles safely and decide what suit you want to use before heading in (etc.). But because of some ungodly reason, it's a place used by snipers to hide behind hills to where you can be hit, but when you go to counter-snipe, you hit a hill instead of their head.
Removing the redline solves nothing (considering it's all balanced around pubs). It only encourages protostompers to redline stomp even worse than already happens.
Imagine being a match with 6-7 blueberries on your team against a full 6 man squad of let's say Nyain San. They push you back to what would normally be the redline, but because it's removed, that no longer applies. They are now allowed to camp under your mcc so you never land without being shotgunned to death in the face. You are never allowed to spawn at your normal spawn either because you'll get HMG'd to death in the face. What do you suppose we do then? Make it to where you randomly spawn on the map like ambush? Yeah look how well it does you already. Spawn camped because it refuses to spawn you anywhere else, and when it finally does, it's too late because you just lost 30-40 clones.
I'm all for changing the redline, but not removing it completely. The single best way to make the redline how it should be would be to make it to where you can't shoot in or out of the redline's line for each side. This gives people that are redlined a chance to summon in tanks/dropships to fight back and get inside the area while preventing people sitting 200-500 meters from the objective inside the redline from sniping you with that 1k EHP Thales heavy. However, should someone decide the cross the redline into enemy territory, they're allowed to shoot you with infantry/tank.
It won't stop people from sitting just outside the redline on some maps, but it makes them more easily accessible than it used to be. Redline tanks/installations are also nerfed, so all turrets would have to be placed strategically on the field.
But considering that would require an actual change and not just a hotfix, it will never happen.
But in the meantime, any changes to nerf the sniper's range/damage are just going to make the sniper a dead role. For those of us that get the chance and do snipe outside the redline, some of those great perches are still 200+ meters from the objective.
Tl;dr- Change, but don't remove, the redline, and don't nerf snipers range.

No, people ***** because they got sniped, last match I played that I can remember my stats for because I generally don't care about them, oops there goes your stat padding theory) I went 26-0 with10-15 assists, top of the board for wp on my team, top kills overall, and we won......while I was nowhere near the redline. Still got hatemail for supposedly being a redline sniper......yeah people like you don't just assume redline when they see a sniper in the killfeed, not at all.
How a real sniper acts: 1. Find the best overwatch for the current area of engagement
2. Support team through killing, if not possible (brick tanked heavies mostly) soften them up before they hit your team
3. Continued support through equipment destruction, typically uplinks first then nanohives, and on the very rare occasion you spot one, re's (this is not done for wp, this is done to kill off their support and deny wp, denying a quicker ob)
4. If you have a mic, speak up and do long range recon, even if it's just warning of incoming vehicles so your team can be prepared

Counter sniping is one thing. Needing a specific item to kill someone because they're so deep into their redline a dropship can't even reach them in time is another. If the draw distance in this game was better, it wouldn't be so bad, but to kill the average Thale's sniper, you have to also use a Thale's to have any chance of finding them because they won't even render through the normal rifle scopes.

With the sniper, we're talking hundreds of metres of ground that I need to search before I travel thanks to the 20s timer.
And if the sniper is terrible, I still can't kill him. If the heavy is bad that all changes.
There it is, really - sniping from the redline has no real counter except itself. With a heavy, sure I could slug it out in CQC. If he's better than me, or better equipped, then I die. Or I could attack him from range, outside his effective, and kite him to death. Or I could place a remote explosive around the corner and instagib him.
The only way to kill a redline sniper is to counter snipe from a comparatively vulnerable position (i.e. Not the redline) and shoot him back, to run for twenty seconds and suicide to get him (and if he's a heavy I might still fail) or to use an ADS which is even more costly.
It would seem like wisdom, but for the warning in my heart...

Snipers in redline are usless. You can't even see the person 350m out, you just gotta rely on the little arrow above their head and the way the new crosshairs are set up, you can't see what you're shooting and the person is smaller than the crosshairs 350m out. The zoom on the SR is set up for a weapon used within 150m
