I've always wondered why when recruiting or hiring ringers, that guys talk about how much sp they have and what sort of suit that they use. Personally, all that matters to me, initially, is what is your KDR and what role do you play.
And when I say role, I don't mean what what suit do you have...For instance, if you're a slayer but you use a logi suit then you're an assault/slayer. You are not a logi just because you are using a logi suit. If you say that your role is logi, then I expect you to be support.
It can be frustrating when guys run down all of the unnecessary information when trying to shop themselves. And then you still have to follow with a message asking them questions that will determine what role they play and are they competent enough in it.
"I have 30m sp, proto AR, proto SCR, proto MD, CR, RR, $100M ISK...". If you're shopping yourself, state your role and KDR. Once you've gotten past that preliminary screening, then you go over what suit and weapon that you have if the FC or recruiter asks that of you.

Don't look at KDR, WP/death (takes a little work to calculate), is what someone should look at, if they believe in any stats.
However, recorded stats are unreliable. Players who primarily go solo (yours truly) will almost always have worse stats than people who run squads all the time. Other players use some under-powered weapons for sport, or in preparation for them getting over-buffed (also yours truly). Other players also put winning over WP, by doing necessary but low-wp roles (not me, **** my teammates)

Also, you obviously have your roles wrong because there's no such thing as a slayer. That's far too general a term. "Slayers kill people"- so you could be a shocktroop, a defensive area-denier, offensive area-denier, vehicle-based offensive area denier, AVer....

KDR is a guideline. It's annoying to see shotty scouts with a 1.5 kdr who do nothing but making fool attempts on killing heavies and jerking around typing they are "slayers" when the word come out in VC.

slayers kill people.....which is why you should specify your role over your suit. I mean, common sense dictates that if you're a heavy or an ADS or a tanker, you should specify that. But if you're a scout that kills, a logi that kills, an assault that kills then you should classify yourself as an assault/slayer

wp/death matters most for logis. That's a stat that is good for a logis. But for slayers/assaults the KDR stat means something.
People have to realize that KDR does mean something. It's not the end all be all but it does mean something. It's like when you're searching for a job.....your resume is what a recruiter sees first. An impressive resume may grant you an interview over a not so impressive one. Your KDR is like your resume.

Whatever job you ask the contracted mercenary to achieve.
Frankly if I was every to hire out players for a some reason it would be to achieve a specific goal. I would establish that before the contract, and interview potential applicants to determine which could best achieve the goal.
In that sense having high KDR means nothing if you can't get to the objective and fulfil your role. If you don't achieve the goal you don't get paid for it.
Additionally under most circumstance if I don't know that's players abilities how do I know how to best use them?

Having a higher KDR means that you are killing more than you are dying.....it is safe to assume that you may be alive long enough to reach the objective. If you can't stay alive, it is much harder to cap and hold objectives, correct?

That is actually pretty good. It is informative and lets one know whether they can or need to use you. Anyone talking about slaying should drop in their KDR as well.

KDR is very important, but only if you play for the win and push objectives. Anyone can be a perifferee hero in this game. Its just laughable seing a lot of players playing defensively with what I call "cheap EZ-mode tactics" and still they think they're good for having a 2.2 KDR in the worlds least competative FPS.... |

All a high KDR tells me is that you have a great deal of kills for few deaths. For all I know you are just as bad as Duna running against pubbies padding that KDR for your own vanity.
That vanity means nothing to me.
