And? Listen, people are not dumb. Or, well, at least the vast majority is not dumb. Everyone has made their choice and will make their choice based on many factors, it's just useless, all this fanboyism trying to build an excuse for Dust's fails and for any other CCP failure.
It's even useless to tell people to buy a gaming PC because if they didn't until now there's always a good reason. |

First off, I have told no one to buy a PC.
And secondly, I have witnessed many forum posters being precisely dumb when it comes to the possibility of entering the PC gaming world.
I thought this would help those who are genuinely interested, but uninformed, about PC gaming.
Clearly you aren't in that group. Fine. Shoo.

If they're here on the forums they can visit websites and Google is always your friend. There's no point in posting such things on a ps3 game forums. It's just like trying to sell Russian Wine in France. |

Not at all. Firstly, the discussions about PCs have been writ large lately due to Legion.
Not all console users are going to get much out of google if they don't know what to look for. TB has summed it up succinctly and in a way that can help inform.
Lastly, with Dust transitioning to Legion, there are likely a lot of people here interested in the possibility of getting their first gaming PC (or first one in a while).
This thread is for them.

Your upgrade comes standard with sitting completely upright, being a foot from your display, and the inability to control what you're doing with a single input source. Congratulations--you've joined the Master(bator) Race!
IMO, it's not an "upgrade"--it's a change of physical playstyle. I won't deny all the Comic Book Guy yappity-yap about potential graphical superiority, but I'm a gamer, not a computer scientist. I guess you can play Civ, though, and MMOs a la Warcraft/EVE, if you're into those kind of games. Though in all likelihood, RTS will be realized in an unexpectedly viable way on tablets and the like in the near future. |

PCs can be used from the comfort of a couch just as effectively as a console can.
See, this is exactly the kind of lack of knowledge that the video helps to address.

There are indeed a lot of posts about this, but this video is actually pretty decent.
Take into account that for a lot of people a gaming PC can mean not buying a (console AND a standard home PC) and you can't really complain about the price.
The fact that PC game prices plummet drastically faster than for their console equivalents can really seal the deal for anyone who isn't used to selling back their used games.
Though on the flipside of things, not everyone has an interest in computers, so the increased cost for convenience won't ever kill interest in consoles.
Trying to argue the superiority of one platform over the other is pointless when the majority of factors are subjective. |

Unprecise. They can be used from a couch, but absolutely not as effectively as a console can. That said, if you place your PC in your living room on a 50-inch TV, it lose all its other purposes outside gaming and movies. It would just become a bigger, more powerful, more expansive console, with less exclusives, playing with a controller against m/kb.
And I don't even want to mention the overall gaming experience, which can be very disappointing to say the least. As a former PC gamer, I really think that consoles are the best platform for a more competitive game style: it may sound strange, but think about it. You have the same platform, the same input latency, the same input device. Except for latency and internet connections, it's all about skills. |

As to the OP, thank you for the video. I have no interest in PC gaming, but, it was a not @$$ video just talking ****... Which surprises me after reading some of your previous comments elsewhere... Insightful video, but, yea, if the games that everyone brags about on PC are like the background old western CoD, I'm not missing much..

Still, this isn't a thread for you to try to convince me that one or the other is superior. this is a thread for those considering moving to PC, and what to consider.

This isn't a thread where I advocate which one is better. I've used them all. I know which one I prefer. I'm trying to help those that don't know about PCs but might be interested. Ostensibly because of Legion. |

Good video, but every thing seems to leave out the games trading, especially when arguing which games are cheaper. Example: Dark Souls 2. On steam right now? Gé¼50. For console in my local shop new? Gé¼55. Alright, it's Gé¼5 more. If I buy a pre-owned copy? Gé¼35, and that'll go down with time.

Well, with Steam you can get great discounts (like 75% or more) but you have to watch for the sales. So, you might not see a big price difference unless you're looking for particular games and watching them. You can get good discounts elsewhere as well.
After a two minute search, here's one for $43. |

I don't think it should be ignored either. I believe that he mentions the used game trade, but perhaps not. I do recall him mentioning the renting of games though.

Why would the need to help the poor console players with the transition to PC even crossed anybody's mind is a mystery. Console players may or may not have PCs. But they certainly don't need help from these forums to figure it out.
But most of them prefer to be console players, not PC players.
Nothing to see here but pandering.

Wow. That's a lot of assumptions. First off, as you can see by this thread alone that there are interested parties. Also there are misinformed parties. This thread aims to address both of those issues.
Please take your assumptions elsewhere.

1) Type in www.greenmangaming.com or follow my link.
2) Create a account.
3) Add Dark Souls 2 for -ú39.99 to your basket.
3) Add voucher - FUSWJT-B1DU64-JBV8UY for 20% off.
4) Pay -ú32 instead. Add key to Steam, download, play.
In a few months time, perhaps even shorter, that price will be cut by half and in a year, you will see the game go for 75% off. |

Actually I've also posted this in the several forums involving PC's and PS3's. Some titles are cheaper than steam on PS Plus and some titles end up going for free. I think Xcom was one of the games that made me pissed at Steam I got it for $34.99 on sale on steam but was later a free title on the PS Plus 2 months later. I haven't touched it ever since I beat the game and I think that adds to my animosity on that issue.
It's also why gaming and prices are so hard; not every title you want will eventually become for free on PS plus but if you're not trying to beat every game in 2 weeks it has a good appeal to it. In that respect I mostly went from PC to console gaming and I know Sony is pushing the PS Plus heavy if you examine it's marketing.
Depending on what you mostly game, each has it's appeal really. |
