Doubt people will say this but the worst part of fps PC gaming is the community, you think the dust forums were bad on the release of legion at the dust keynote... that pales in comparison to the daily active PC fps communities.

Actually it's quite easy, buy a controller for the pc, they sell them on amazon for around 30 bucks, if you are to lazy for that, plenty of computer stores you can get them from. You can choose from xbox styled or playstation styled along with custom styled. |

Emulators man!
Right now I have an emulator for pretty much every console up to playstation 2 and 90% of the games run perfect or even BETTER than they did originally.
I have MGS 1 - the PS1 version not the PC version, with improved shaders, anti-aliasing and all sorts of other clever shader techniques. All of this running on my PC and it looks sweet.
Crash Bandicoot 3 - warped looks amazing for a game that is so old!
EMULATORS ARE SWEET!
Oh and by the way - the Xbox`s controllers easily work with a windows PC. I can even use my Sony PS3 controller on my PC using a clever little application.
Really - if you can be bothered to play around - the PC is hands down the best platform. |

"usually" <- What a joke... Usually, they are not available for PC, except you are talking about "time-exclusives" Try to play Uncharted, The Last of Us, Little Big Planet etc. on a PC Or Mario Kart, Zelda and the other Nintendo stuff Perfect example of how not all games on console transfer over :) But I could easily say the same for hundreds of PC only games. As far as I've seen, the bigger more popular games are both console and PC. I'm pretty sure you have some examples of how I'm wrong, but it's just an example of why a PC is better.
Not interrested in your console PC beef trash talking, i would only knock on the word "usually" ;)

Well, the first thing you have to do is stop treating PC as a fourth console. It's even more distant to console gaming as handheld gaming is. It has its own genres, it's own priorities that are separate to anything else. Just make sure you like strategy games, RPGs, and shooters, because there's a ton of them on PC. If you like those genres PC is heaven right now.
Also you're also forgetting that there's tons of classic games on PC as well, during the NES/SNES/N64/PS2 generations PC gaming was producing it's own unique brand of classic games that are still playable on modern PCs, as many titles as all of those consoles combined because PC gaming was alive during all of those generations. If you've never had a PC before you get access to classic stuff like Ultima Underworld, HoMM3, The Longest Journey, SiN, Blood, Heretic, StarTopia, Planescape Torment, Baldur's Gate 2, Arcanum, Age of Wonders, Stalker, Master of Orion, Freespace 2, Tie Fighter, Jedi Knight, Sim City 4, System Shock 2, Thief 2, Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines, Might & Magic World of Xeen, Populous 2, Jagged Alliance 2, XCOM, Grim Fandango, Day of the Tentacle, No One Lives Forever, Commandos, Age of Mythology, Clive Barkers Undying, Gothic 2, SWAT 4, Alpha Centauri and Wizardy 8. That's just a fraction of games off the top of my head, 60% of my playtime on PC lately has been classic titles because I got into it pretty late. It's never worth missing out on this stuff. |

I think I was not paying attention the best due to how horrible allergy season is going for me. My point I was trying to make is that PCs do have the ability to use gaming controllers which had been brought up early in the forums.
Also, ps3 emulation is quite possible, just not going to touch on the subject that much, all games on the PS3 or Xbox 360 originally were designed and created on a computer, what keeps people from playing the games on a pc is usually a bit of code within the cds or games themselves. This is why Sony is able to send games through the network which you can download. Just like your game Dust 514, you didn't program it or create it on the PS3 you made it for the PS3.
Though I would really love to see one of you trying to code and program on the PS3 using a PS3 and a controller. |

PS3 emulation is totally possible we tried it out in UNI when we trying to work out how a few of us could use the one dev kit :P
however we where quickly informed that it was horrifyingly illegal and switch to just making a game on the 360 :P

some people mentioned that you can upgrade your pc cheap instead of buying a new pc
well that is partially true and there is alot more behind it: -first of all, current pc games are equally demanding for CPU and GPU performance and this will most likely not change in future. if your CPU bottlenecks your GPU then a new GPU upgrade will be useless. that means atleast a CPU + GPU upgrade. a good CPU + GPU costs like 300-400 euros together, the price of a new console. -second, getting a significant upgrade is only possible if there is no leap to the next developed technology. if you buy a computer now chances are that you will not be able to upgrade it significantly any more because the next CPU is running on a different socket and you might aswell get a complete new computer. there are already rumours of new sockets and ddr4 memory around, e.g. Intel is going for DDR4 memory and for that they need one more pin on the socket, that means 1151 Socket CPUs which wont fit on your current 1150 socket motherboards and DD4 also means your old memory wont be of any use too.
if budget is a problem then console + cheap pc is the best of both worlds. you can buy a console and not care about the hardware for the next 5 years. additionally you can get a cheap PC/notebook for stuff that a console cant do like using office/photoshop/whatever and you are set.
if you have the money, nothing stops you to get both though. a pc obviously delivers better visuals with latest games. |

I've been a console gamer for almost 20 years and I never really bothered/had time for PC gaming i'd also like to know what computer you have, how much it cost, how much you usually spend to upgrade it
My argument
You guys just might never understand why console gamers stick to consoles instead of a PC.
Whoever it was who said "the only advantage consoles have are inconsequential exclusive games and most of them get ported anyway" is severely mistaken. When was the last time Nintendo ported ANYTHING to the PC? There are just always going to be people like me who enjoy the console exclusive franchises more than anything else.
Sure, sometimes being faithful to companies like Nintendo can put you through a few dry spells... like how the 3DS is amazing but has an underwhelming number of good titles for it, not to mention the atrocity known as Wii U... but you can never turn people like me off of games like Kirby and Zelda, because even though they're usually rehashes of the same thing they get better every time.
Also the whole emulator thing? You don't need a gaming computer for that. A simple, cheap computer will do.
It's like I said in another thread. The whole "superiority" complex you guys have for PCs, gamers like me just don't care that much about that, and are just as happy playing classic stuff with outdated graphics as we are with the newer, "better" games. Don't get me wrong, Gran Turismo 5 was pretty amazing but I'd be just as happy playing some old Super Nintendo title.
I can pretty much guarantee you, unless some force of nature or extremely appealing game compels me, I would rather buy a PS4 and play the new Kingdom Hearts than buy a gaming PC just to have a bunch of games whose only selling points are better graphics and better MMO's or FPS's which can probably be played on the PS4 anyway.
Indeed why pc?
The best is yet to come

well that is partially true and there is alot more behind it: -first of all, current pc games are equally demanding for CPU and GPU performance and this will most likely not change in future.[...] This hasn't been true for years. You can use a 3 year old mid-range CPU and still have your GPU bottleneck in most games. Also, if a component is bottlenecking then has untapped potential left. Why would you throw away a GPU when you just replaced the component holding it back?
Also, good mainboards go for <150$, so does sufficiently sized RAM for at least the next few years. DDR4 is years away from providing better gaming performance, let alone at good value, which has been the case for all major RAM iterations aswell. As I already said there hasn't been a compelling reason to regularly upgrade CPUs for years now so everyone buying a decent midrange board/CPU today will be fine for years to come.
You can take a benign object, -you can take a cheeseburger and deconstruct it to its source...
