In all seriousness though (as obviously there is no way at this early stage that we can predict exactly what the framerate will be on any potential system setup) PC gaming and console gaming are different beasts. The discussion/debate/irrational screaming matches can be found all over the internet so I won't go too much into it here.
I would say it is not more time-consuming, however - you can sink just as many hours into consoles as PCs, and in my experience downloading patches and updates on PS3 has proven to be just as much of a hassle if not more so than automatically updating my PC games on Steam, for example.
I can say though that if you bought yourself PC capable of playing Legion with whatever specs it needs at launch, then you will more than likely be able to play every PC game that has been released since the dawn of PC gaming (using DOSBox and so on if needed) and almost definitely every Windows XP+ and later game, so you would be opening yourself up to one of the - if not the single most - largest backlogs in videogaming.
Plus I have gone through periods where I had the PC in the lounge hooked up to the TV, with a wireless mouse and keyboard for regular gaming and an Xbox 360 controller for console-like gaming, playing amazing looking 1080p games in full resolution with great framerates...
So yeah, I'd love to be able to tell you the frame rate etc you can expect from Project Legion, but this is very much in the 'we don't know' stage (remember, the game is not even greenlit yet!). |

61 FPS But I have a 120hz monitor... Hmm. I guess there are also terms I need to familiarize myself with if I go for a gaming PC. Not sure how Hz affects FPS.
Check this out to explain the difference:

I might consider buying a gamer PC after I establish how much time I will have for it (if this college accepts me).
Plus I have my video game hating girlfriend to contend with.
I used my PC all the way through university and the only real upgrade I needed to do was to buy a graphics card - I didn't run everything at max settings super awesome all the time, but the same thing that was churning out assignments in MS Word let me play games in 'glorious' 3D as well...
PC gaming can be a matter of as much or as little as you want to spend and you will reap the rewards accordingly. You can get AMD/NVIDIA-powered gaming laptops for the same price as a PS4, which have HDMI output for playing on HD TVs. They will run everything, but just not as beautifully. And while we are on the subject, I would hate to try get MS Office running on a PS4. |

Hey Minor Treat - you can get a gaming laptop for $500-$600 these days - it won't play the top latest releases at 1000 FPS (let alone 61 FPS) but it will do all you need to. Just check Newegg, Amazon, Ebuyer, whatever.

Minor Treat wrote: Really? I'll do some searching around in those sites. Thanks for the info. Also can you provide some information on what would be consider good specs for todays gaming? I have no idea where to even start.
Good specs is very much a "depends" thing - depends on how high res you are running, if you are using multiple monitors, what sort of framerate is acceptable for you, how much anti aliasing you need to enjoy the visuals, and a lot more.
There are tons of sites out there that can give you a good breakdown, but for example this is the laptop I have at home, permanently hooked up to the TV when I am not traveling, sitting alongside my PS3:
Lenovo IdeaPad Z585 Laptop, AMD A8 4500M, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD, 15.6" TFT, DVDRW, AMD 7640G, Webcam, Windows 8 64bit
It's nothing amazing but it runs everything I have tried, albeit with reduced settings. Having that HDMI out is awesome.
It cost me $545 in August last year, so you'll be able to pick up something considerably better for the same price today.

Minor Treat wrote: Now I know PC rigs can be customized but are laptops capable of being customizable for upgrading in the future?
To some degree - things like extra memory, faster/larger hard drives and so on, for sure. When it comes to graphics and CPU, it can get a bit more tricky. If you're in it for the long haul then getting a desktop PC is just way easier down the line.
If portability/travel is a must, and you see yourself using the same machine for more than a couple years, then invest in something a bit pricier. There's not really much way to 'future-proof' yourself in the world of PC gaming. It is more a case of 'how much do I want to spend in order to get the most out of the games currently on the market, and what will be coming in the next 6 months or so'.
Probably your greatest consideration is determining what is the most recent version of DirectX that the GPU can run, as that will at least mean that new games are playable, even if they don't look as good as they will on a $2500 machine.
It's really all about weighing up what you are using the machine for, and then browsing sites to find the best portable GPU in your price range and then ensuring the laptop's other specs meet your requirements.

That's not what we said! We said that we aren't optimizing yet. That generally comes after the content and features have gone in. We will absolutely optimize the game for performance when the time comes.

Can't we talk about PC gaming again? That was more fun.

Actually it's quite easy, buy a controller for the pc, they sell them on amazon for around 30 bucks, if you are to lazy for that, plenty of computer stores you can get them from. You can choose from xbox styled or playstation styled along with custom styled.
I don't think any of these games are available on the PC, and I don't think PS3 emulation is a thing (or remotely legal, were it even possible at this point).
