Yes.
It's kind of hard to feel excited about it after the atrocious way in which CCP decided to let the cat out of the bag, but aside from that I believe that they are taking the right steps to maybe still realise the ambitious vision they had for DUST. |

Support. You'd only be shooting this game or Legion's chance at a re-release on a current gen console if you continue the backlash. PS3 technology is dated and Sony plans on only having games developed on it for the next 1-2 years or so, which should give people plenty of time to transition to the PS4. More games and features will be released for the consoles as well as possible price drops on consoles.

It was never in question that Dust had to evolve for it to survive. It's not like EVE on a PC where it can upgrade as technology does, but now it can be. The problem remains in the ethical department. Them milking the money out of us right before this thing, not announcing it sooner, announcing it at fanfest, ******* the people who flew to fanfest over, ******* our years of hard work over, lying to us, not bringing anything new for Dust 514. Add that on top of all the idiocies they had before this mess.
But on top of that, I support legion. Whether I'll play it is a different question.

Logically this was the next step, eventually we were going to have to buy into new platforms, either the PS4 or the PC, and looking objectively at the two platforms and bearing in mind I have been for the entirety of the gaming time a console supporter, the correct choice is the PC.
Fortunately for me I have both my laptop and PS3 at the end of their life times, I could with relative ease have a gaming PC built for me, and still choose to purchase a PS4..... so I think, only think, that I will transition to Legion, and continue to support CCP, provising they make some serious advances and considerations for their players.
However currently I cannot support CCP for the absolutely atrocious treatment of their player base. fans, etc.
Still that doesn't mean I am not intensely bitter about the underhanded way CCP scammed us out of our money in the last few months with booster events, with promises of Fanfest being our answer to all of DUST's problems, all the while advancing characters that were in all likelihood were to be shoved to the side and forgotten by upset fans.

Does the phrase "We have been sold a bill of goods" mean anything to you. You've been given some vague statements about what might or might not be from a company that just had two projects that fell through and did it about as badly as it could be done.
You talk about Legion like it is something that exists and we just have to decide if we will play it or not. It is a pipe dream and a distraction to focus the player base on what might be instead of what is.

I am a casual solo player of Dust, so I know pain and the rage of being powerless, and know it really well. It has made me strong. It numbed me. I feel no pain and am not afraid of something like the transition to Legion. Dont act like youre all hurty hurt, you spoiled chromosome vets. Youre not hard, you have just the SP and ISK advantage. There is now obviously a touch of bad blood between those staying and those leaving, as we all know, but those who stay as well as those who come to the game in the future would do well to know and remember what has happened here this weekend. I would at least like to see the biomass thread linked in somehow to the OP. I understand not wanting to put words in peoples mouths, but the information is relevant to this thread. As i've said, we can't preserve our story, only those who stay can.

Assuming there will be Asset transfer (or equivalent exchange) from Dust (specifically BPO's and rare items) - I support Legion.
I do sincerely hope that they release a Ps4 version too so all the console-only players are taken care of in the best way possible, since it has been them who have put it with "Dust Beta Testing" for the last few years.
-however-
I, like many, feel that CCP have handled this incredibly badly. The way it announced has been appalling and I feel extremely let down by CCP as a company - not because they are moving from Ps3 - but because of the insensitivity they have shown towards a very loyal fanbase.
Therefore, I am deeply torn.
I have played EvE since 2004 - just after it was launched, I joined Dust because I supported CCP and love the EvE universe and wanted to experience another aspect of it (even though I'm a terrible merc, it's been fun), and I was enticed by the idea of two different games linked by economy and battles etc.
After this though, I'm honestly unsure whether I can continue to support (pay for, talk about, spend time playing) CCP games (Legion, EvE, Valkyrie). Since this does seem to be unusually insensitive and badly handled (even for CCP).

They have no idea what they are doing. The restricted hardware of PS3 explains only a small part of the problems we had in DUST 514. Remember how often bugs and network or FPS issues have been re-introduced after being fixed in earlier patches? Remember the many game-breaking mechanics they came up with last-minute? Balancing issues that haven't been fixed for months. How dull and boring the game modes became?
Porting the game to PC, will change nothing in the lack of software engineering skills of CCP Shanghai and the many bad game design decisions they like to make.
So, don't get your hopes up, PC gamers. Again we hear all the same tantalizing visions and the bold promises, they are going to break. Legion is just the next sad chapter in this tragedy of a game development.

I'm going to go ahead and support Project Legion. CCP's decision to use the PC as the platform for EVE mercenaries is only logical and makes sense in every way. That said, I'm still smarting from the way they handled it's reveal.
I support the obvious abuse of flawed game mechanics to force CCP to fix them. Nothing else seems to work.

Put me down for conditional support if it comes out for PS4 *or* comes out for Linux. Carbon looks wonderful, but being tied to DX11 is going to only hurt later on when MS decides to tighten their leash on it. I also doubt that CCP will be able to stop their FPS from being horribly hacked without it being on a console. Moreover, the PS4 isn't using the bizarre architecture the PS3 was; it's practically a PC already. |

Lets face it people, PS3 was a bad move for the game. They should have been working to make it a PS4 launch title. but instead, we got this. It failed on console due to CCP not having experience with coding for the console. Now with the project moving to PC hopefully their dream and vision can be fully accomplished.

I absolutely support Legion. From both a technical and game design standpoint it's the right move, the announcement clusterfuck was terrible but I'm super stoked for it and will definitely play it. If they don't end up transferring, I'll biomass my Dust toon so I can use the same name there.

Legion is absolutely the right move for the future of Dust. How CCP went about revealing it is the biggest problem.

The last time i updated my PC just to have the specs to run a game, was so i could run Oblivion.
Updating for a shooter just doesn't seem worth it.... But if another epic seeming RPG comes along, I may look into it.. And I might also remember that Dust/Legion was a thing, and so come check out how things have progressed.
I really couldn't care less right now though, I mean i have a PS4, a Beta key, and 5 or so more weeks until Destiny Beta opens. I'm good, so add me to "don't care" please.

Im a PC gamer and a console player....PC514 wont survive....FPS create a competitive environment with the must win at all cost attitude....now on PC this leads to hacks and aimbots.....look at TF2 by valve....valve is huge....it has alot of hackers in TF2...im not positive but CCP consists of at most 100 people....they cant win...PC FPSs dont see the numbers that console FPSs do...PC loyalist are saying its moving to a larger player base but they are only half right..there is more PC gamers...but not FPS PC gamers

I support, it's the only way forward since CCPs programmers in Shanghai can hardly work with the ps3. Even the ps4 would probably limit them when they get halfway to their vision of a shooter connected to EVE.

A little after Uprising i've lost all hope and tried to forget about Dust like it was just a nightmare.
But now after EVE:Legion announcement i'm lurking quietly around here again all excited.
So YES. I do support Legion. Be it on PC or PS4 or both, just avoid ancient platform (ps3) as plague thats all I care.
But PC will provide alot of benefits for early development cycle, no question about that. But if it will be any good this time (closer to their original vision) it will end up on consoles as well i'm sure.

Sadly, PC is the platform the DUST should have been on, partially because thats what CCP knows how to do, and because it is plaqued with many fewer issues, such as Sony, and the lack of a Test server, and being able to have a high max for visuals, but still be able to set to really low for the low end computers.
Here's my condition, that Character Move, and if it isn't F2P, My EV account should let me play Legion (and Valkryie, while were at this)

Obviously sad way of handling FF for DUSTers, but just as obvious for the player, that was/is a necessary shift for progress. I get some of the outrage. I'm p!ssed too, but mostly on the principle of the matter. Poor form on CCP, but really, a lot of the names I see coming up over and over to forum rage are those that have b!tiched and moaned and cursed this game since they created a forum AV. For those specific few, HTFU. Be civil and join a discussion like most have. It's not submission, it's compromise. I love DUST514, and I'm broken-hearted to see even just the name change, but I also live in a place called reality where grade-school perspective has evolved and can empathize the change in direction; though the the past to that fork in the road was misguided at best (i.e., damn near every development decision made up to this point).
I hate that my PS3's sole purpose now will be NetFlix access---at least until I upgrade to a smart TV. =\ But until then, DUST has been my only game of choice since CB and will remain so until the transfer. Now if the overwhelming flood of full-fit protos could back the hell off in pubs haha wtf. Is this some form of protest?
All the best to the players, and here's hoping that CCP higher-ups may actually learn something from obviously short-sighted decisions.

I support the game, but i don't support their actions in how they decided to announce this game, at the expense of Dust 514 and all of the players who supported it a lot. It really depends on their actions. If they give good compensation to each player, relative to their skill set that they had in Dust 514, i could see the shift going over well (as long as they also have a good PC) But with CCP there's really no telling what their actually going to do, if Dust has been any clearer of an indication of that. So who knows, I hope for the best yet again, but more than likely expect the worst.

How about have the DUST mercs be the ones capturing territories for the Pilots and have the Legionnaires be the ones scavenging for different salvage? That way, Dust 514 will not fall into obscurity.
This about sums up the debate on Legion.
Any anti-Legion campaigns will likely be as effective as AV in Dust.

Support the idea of Legion on the platform it should always have been on (don't get your panties in a bunch, I play on PC, PS3 and 360, but this game was misplaced from the start).
Also support the players who stuck with Dust on the PS3 feeling really poorly treated over how this announcement was handled. Great for me, and I applauded it at Fanfest, but some of you guys got screwed hard.

Maybe ya, I really really would like to see a beta for Legion this year but that might just be asking too much. I just don't want to play Dust at all, that grinding just gets me out of the mood for playing each time. But I also want that Sand box MMO-FPS that's connected to EVE online.

Honest opinion: I don't support Legion because if you're relying on a developers experience and perspective on making a game and how the interpret input, then what they did with Dust is bad and I can't have high hopes for Legion. At some level playing on a PC should make it easier for FPS imo but they still complain.
Also, something i think EVERYONE missed on the Dust forums are the EvE forums. For example we have this:

...which I had to lol because thinking 1.8 made Dust more playable made me *facepalm* a bit.
If they did a whole revamp of Dust, I think players would support it even if they had to take the game offline for a month or two; players are more forgiving if the goal is to really improve something. Offering a transfer of skills and ISK or whatever is planned smooths the transition for some but Dust is really the only product I have judging CCP's ability in making a FPS style-mmo and by that criteria, I feel it's only a few notches superior to when Duke Nukem was re-released.
EvE players would be happy if console gamers left and so would some of the low level level players as well. The thing is that eventually you'll end up in the same spot where Dust is right now with protostomping and then what? CCP has no clue what to do with that scenario now and who knows if they ever will.
Just something to consider when voting: this is CCP and if Dust was a beta test, they really didn't care to look at the feedback it got. |

It is pretty obvious people on that list feel unbelievably burned (rightfully so) and have little chance of supporting CCP in the future. That list is a whos who in Dust btw.

I think you can kind of assume when someone throws everything away from Dust, that they are done supporting CCP. Call it a hunch.
Otherwise this list is pretty much bollocks. It was created well after a large portion of the fanbase quit.

I definitely support legion, Dust 514 always had to move on from PS3, nobody expected PC first but it is only this community that can continually remind CCP of Dust's console roots and pressure for a next gen return

Lastly, I understand that the thread was created a bit late but the idea came to me a bit late and if that makes my list bollocks then so be it. I only track names of the people willing to publicly state their stance on EVE: Legion and the best way in my opinion is through this thread

Expecting different results while doing the same things is the definition of insanity.
To those obviously super-intelligent mind-readers who say that it was only logical and inevitable to move to PC, that is BS.
Good Developers made good games on PS3, Destiny will be played on PS3 ffs.
How is the promise of Legion any different than the promises of Dust? Same company, same developers, same game, same results. Graphics and scenery, even added to Dust, would not fix Dust, and it will not sustain Legion.

Does PC have some magical balancing mechanism? Does being on a PC platform fix conceptual issues?
If it's true that PC was the needed direction, what is one specific issue that we have currently in Dust that PC would magically fix? Do you really think Dust's problems are solely related to frames, processing, and architecture?
Denial is easier than being bluntly honest. But in all reality the vision that was Dust is dead, which is fine for this closed beta vet. However the method of delivery is what will keep me away from CCP entirely and keep me from giving them a second chance.
Just gauge them on their actions or words; the vague statements offered barely show vision and are even more scarce than those same visions offered for Dust, but their actions already put forth on that vision show a lack of execution and an un-willingness to acknowledge it. They are victims of their own self-preserving delusions as well it seems, so supporters you will at least have good company to slowly become irrelevant with.
My view of CCP is now the company that provides EVE, and a few other tiered vaporware offerings. Poor treatment of your playerbase should not, and rarely is, rewarded. If CCP was bigger the damage would be akin to EA, but them being small will most likely keep the damage to the CCP image small. I will not forget though, and neither will the "supporters" of Legion. How will the Legion supporters react when Legion encounters similar conceptual issues and lack of direction? I know the answer and so do all of you if you answer yourself honestly. A slow death is rarely preferred but to each their own. |

At first I was a little pissed that Dust was being replaced, and jumped on the "EFF CCP" bandwagon. But honestly? This is the best move. This game deserves a platform that can stand the rest of time. Ps4 is already out, so continuing to make a game for the last gen system is silly. And consoles seem kinda crappy for a game as ambitious as this. Dust brought my to New Eden, I made a character on Eve, and I love it here. I want this to prosper. So I support Legion. I understand that the console only guys are pissed, and rightfully so, but the game would have died a sad quiet death without the move to pc. |

I've supported legion since 2009, I've been making do with PS3 since then.
Still not chuffed about the way CCP did it though, although on reflection I think they did what they did innocently.

I support Legion IF they port it to PS4 not too long after, which means at least before the end part of the lifecycle, which practically means at most 4 years from now.
I could check it out if it comes to Mac, but that still feels like a ripoff and qualifies for a No.

CCP being too incompetent to optimize the unreal engine properly, or even use it's BUILT IN AI features for a cheap mock up of PvE with rudimentary art assets makes this far harder than you think.

they're doing the best that's possible, really.
unreal is hopelessly unoptimized, and does not have much room for optimization within it, no matter how good you are.
also those built in AI have massive processing and memory overhead, making the problem worse |

Someone call up rocksteady and tell them that their batman games shouldn't be able to run at all on consoles... and mass effect, and Alice madness returns, DC universe online, gods among us, contrast, thief, DMC, Spec Ops, Boarderlands, Gears of War, Fable, + about 60-70 more games.....

Unlike most of the people here, I have two reasons to be pissed at CCP: Dust and WoD Online.
I never invested in Dust; it was such an incomplete game, I don't feel remotely guilty over not supporting it financially, especially given how it's ended up. I did, however, pay for EVE, so as a paying customer for CCP's bread and butter game (the game that allows them to squander money on other mismanaged games that are cancelled/moved to new platforms after years of inefficient development), I feel my opinion does matter a little.
As of right now, I'm in a boycott mood, so here's a solid "No" vote for Legion.
If Legion turns out to look great, I might weaken and reconsider. And by great I mean improving in all the ways EVE is lacking: fun, not grinding, single player combat; more story/roleplay immersion; NPCs with any personality at all; the option of doing things with your clone out of combat, besides watching them walk around a tiny futuristic hotel room; etc.
Probability dictates, and CCP's recent development history indicates, that few, if any, of those features will exist. |

those games have a lot of leeway to use "cheat" optimizations that would look awful in dust. like massive texture pop in or very small environments with loading sections on the fly and skyboxes. unreal doesnt like unobstructed wide open spaces |

I do not support ccp on legion at all. Everyone is all happy about a game that doesn't even exist yet but your not looking how they treated thier current game and fans. Personally the only reason dust is still running is so the jerks don't get sued. After talking to a Sony rep after this crap they pulled on fanfest I pray that anything ccp touches burns to the ground.
