Honest opinion: I don't support Legion because if you're relying on a developers experience and perspective on making a game and how the interpret input, then what they did with Dust is bad and I can't have high hopes for Legion. At some level playing on a PC should make it easier for FPS imo but they still complain.
Also, something i think EVERYONE missed on the Dust forums are the EvE forums. For example we have this:

...which I had to lol because thinking 1.8 made Dust more playable made me *facepalm* a bit.
If they did a whole revamp of Dust, I think players would support it even if they had to take the game offline for a month or two; players are more forgiving if the goal is to really improve something. Offering a transfer of skills and ISK or whatever is planned smooths the transition for some but Dust is really the only product I have judging CCP's ability in making a FPS style-mmo and by that criteria, I feel it's only a few notches superior to when Duke Nukem was re-released.
EvE players would be happy if console gamers left and so would some of the low level level players as well. The thing is that eventually you'll end up in the same spot where Dust is right now with protostomping and then what? CCP has no clue what to do with that scenario now and who knows if they ever will.
Just something to consider when voting: this is CCP and if Dust was a beta test, they really didn't care to look at the feedback it got. |

You can copy/paste the entire name list from the biomassed/quit mercs on your do not support list.
It is pretty obvious people on that list feel unbelievably burned (rightfully so) and have little chance of supporting CCP in the future. That list is a whos who in Dust btw.

I think you can kind of assume when someone throws everything away from Dust, that they are done supporting CCP. Call it a hunch.
Otherwise this list is pretty much bollocks. It was created well after a large portion of the fanbase quit.

I definitely support legion, Dust 514 always had to move on from PS3, nobody expected PC first but it is only this community that can continually remind CCP of Dust's console roots and pressure for a next gen return

I will not post a mercs name on my list unless they say so in this thread and because of that and Dunk Mujunk's post asking the same thing as you do and the answer is still the same.
Lastly, I understand that the thread was created a bit late but the idea came to me a bit late and if that makes my list bollocks then so be it. I only track names of the people willing to publicly state their stance on EVE: Legion and the best way in my opinion is through this thread

Expecting different results while doing the same things is the definition of insanity.
To those obviously super-intelligent mind-readers who say that it was only logical and inevitable to move to PC, that is BS.
Good Developers made good games on PS3, Destiny will be played on PS3 ffs.
How is the promise of Legion any different than the promises of Dust? Same company, same developers, same game, same results. Graphics and scenery, even added to Dust, would not fix Dust, and it will not sustain Legion.

Does PC have some magical balancing mechanism? Does being on a PC platform fix conceptual issues?
If it's true that PC was the needed direction, what is one specific issue that we have currently in Dust that PC would magically fix? Do you really think Dust's problems are solely related to frames, processing, and architecture?
Denial is easier than being bluntly honest. But in all reality the vision that was Dust is dead, which is fine for this closed beta vet. However the method of delivery is what will keep me away from CCP entirely and keep me from giving them a second chance.
Just gauge them on their actions or words; the vague statements offered barely show vision and are even more scarce than those same visions offered for Dust, but their actions already put forth on that vision show a lack of execution and an un-willingness to acknowledge it. They are victims of their own self-preserving delusions as well it seems, so supporters you will at least have good company to slowly become irrelevant with.
My view of CCP is now the company that provides EVE, and a few other tiered vaporware offerings. Poor treatment of your playerbase should not, and rarely is, rewarded. If CCP was bigger the damage would be akin to EA, but them being small will most likely keep the damage to the CCP image small. I will not forget though, and neither will the "supporters" of Legion. How will the Legion supporters react when Legion encounters similar conceptual issues and lack of direction? I know the answer and so do all of you if you answer yourself honestly. A slow death is rarely preferred but to each their own. |

At first I was a little pissed that Dust was being replaced, and jumped on the "EFF CCP" bandwagon. But honestly? This is the best move. This game deserves a platform that can stand the rest of time. Ps4 is already out, so continuing to make a game for the last gen system is silly. And consoles seem kinda crappy for a game as ambitious as this. Dust brought my to New Eden, I made a character on Eve, and I love it here. I want this to prosper. So I support Legion. I understand that the console only guys are pissed, and rightfully so, but the game would have died a sad quiet death without the move to pc. |
